Had to replace the battery on my GPD Win 2 recently, found that shoehorning a credit card below the battery from the front to be quite an effective approach to lift it away from the adhesive.
Just sayin... I did this for mine tonight because the original battery wasn't charging. Worked flawlessly and now I'm back up and running again. Much thanks!!
Thank you so much! I had to use a flathead screwdriver and a cutting knife (for the massive glue) to pry my battery off.. so glad I didn't break anything. And yes there are screws on my battery cable

I like the back design of old laptops, when you have easy access to ram/battery/hdd, unscrew a few screws and you can swap it easy. Why modern devices can't be designed same way? Would be nice touch if battery have same lid as m2 SSD slot, so you can swap it.

After replacing it the battery seems to work but the little battery icon in the corner says "No battery detected" what can I do to fix this? I've tried unplugging it and replugging it after holding the power button for more than 10 second and still nothing I also tried the uninstall the drivers but the only one there is for the AC adapter and nothing else. Is there anything else I can do?
Phawx, when you received your new 256 ssd , can you make a short video on how you replace it (which should be easy) and make the Win 2 recognize it. Sometimes there are small steps which are required to set up the OS to recognize the drive, such as partitioning, etc.....
What size screwdriver are you using? Cant seem to find any information on the exact sized screwdriver to use, i need to get into the back of my gpd win 1 and dont wanna end up stripping the screws thanks
It seems weird, most lithium control circuits are designed to cut off at 4.2 volts, also with 2 cells in serial you need balancing. GPD could have designed a super flexible BMS, but then i wonder why they picked such a weird connector. Only time will tell i guess, these batts are so temperamental.
I wonder if this would fix a unit that stopped charging? I have one that stopped charging a good while ago. And I only ever used the charger it came with.
This is a very dangerous operation, if the battery is chubby, it can be depressurized during dismantling, and this will cause it to catch fire. We already had 2 such cases in the USSR = (. In the first, the device completely burned out, in the second the keyboard melted. We did not have time to unstick it.
I don't mind bending a dead battery, but I would be concerned about breaking something else. Would it be better to use a jimmy tool to get the batteries loose?
I don't have a strong preference. Mostly use NT-H1 myself, since Noctua includes it with coolers, but for a project like this, I would probably be willing to pay for better stuff. I think Thermal Grizzly was popular with GPD Win 1 modders.
Oh man. I bought a HDMI mini cable, hooked the HDMI to it, connected it to my GPD WIN and the GPD turned off. It won't charge or turn on now. When I connected in the MINI HDMI did I unhook the battery or something. Please respond. I barely got this.
to be honest this looks more like a video on how not to replace a battery XD it was a disaster. Still it's very useful to know, seems like the battery is glued in place and that's why you needed all that force to pull it out, you need something to lift it from below or a way to not bend it while you lift it out

They were so nice telling everyone that they gonna sell replacement batteries before many GPD Win 1 units was sold... but when people actually tried to get replacement batteries GPD just ignored them or was saying something like "Sorry, we don't have any to sell and we don't know where you can get one".

That Planet, Pluto would be a nice option to add another easy accessable battery on the lid, it will add more juice to the device and easy fix if built in stop working.

Linux - yes and with understandable purposes. Android - most likely, but why? GPD XD+ is cheaper by far and power enough for almost every Android task, and if you need build-in keyboard, you should look at GPD Win 1, which costs twice as cheaper than GPD Win 2.
Well Saturn emulation isn't great to begin with but the games that work well should run fine, then theres MAME that has the arcade versions of many of the best Saturn games and some too. Mame pretty much runs on anything lol

I really want to see a more easily removeable battery for something like this. It looked like something they could have achieved if they wanted to. I dont want to look like I'm arming a bomb on the train or bus lol
TacticalPower88 If you wanna interchange batteries on the go, I'd recommend one of those larger battery packs instead, given that this isn't going to be easily done on the bus, especially with those smaller screws.

Imagine this machine as a very tiny laptop/notebook windows pc. You install your games the same way as you do on a full size pc. Most pc games are digital, so as Phawx said, login into your favorite store and download your games as usual.

I really like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. It's easy to apply and remove and has great thermal charateristics.

Can you connect a god win 2 battery on gpd micropc? (Chassis doesn't have to fit, just the connector).

I’m not going to lie but it would have been better if it had and msata ssd or m.2 2280. I don’t know if it’s just me but do anyone see and m.2 2242 higher than 256gb?? Because if I can get a 1tb drive for this thing it would be golden to me :-]
There are 512GB M.2 2242 SSD's already available at major outlets like Amazon and Newegg.
I really want to see a more easily removeable battery for something like this. It looked like something they could have achieved if they wanted to. I dont want to look like I'm arming a bomb on the train or bus lol
TacticalPower88 If you wanna interchange batteries on the go, I'd recommend one of those larger battery packs instead, given that this isn't going to be easily done on the bus, especially with those smaller screws.
I plugged the damn thing and I am getting an undetected battery and no charging (no matter how often I re-plug it in) anyone else had this problem or am I just that unlucky? XP

No it doesn't. This is just a tutorial for future use when people need to replace their batteries.

TacticalPower88 for some reason sometimes the game has stutters on any pc you play so you have to put the priority to real time fixes it for me on 4 pcs I have had since the game came out
+magic beanman I had the stuttering issue myself. That game is famous for being a terrible PC port.

I think its just the attention from a Replacement fatherfigure on Screen giving their wishes acknowledgment. Most of them already play these games on console and dont even have money to buy the system hence why all these tests of newest mext gen console games is absolutely braindead-Stupid

It's a PC. So you can install games through Disc. USB. Steam. GOG.
Imagine this machine as a very tiny laptop/notebook windows pc. You install your games the same way as you do on a full size pc.
Most pc games are digital, so as Phawx said, login into your favorite store and download your games as usual.
