I just used Layout 2020 after attempting to make construction documents in years past. Great improvements and I was impressed at how much quicker Layout now functions. Freezing inside viewports is no longer an issue. Great work SketchUp Team. Keep pushing this forward to give a good alternative to midsize architecture offices who are always frustrated with Revit's lack of graphic capabilities.
At 3:49, the relink button is actually a new feature of LayOut as well in that if you relink using that button (or by right-clicking), it will change the model reference for just that viewport. Previously, relinking a model would change the references for ALL viewports using that reference. You can still relink all your viewports at once from the Document Setup window.
Nice video. It's great to see some fundamentals changing around in SketchUp. 2020 has some really decent improvements. Presumably a lot of the development over the past few years has gone into the backend with integration to Connect etc. These changes at the front end are a lot easier to appreciate!
This is great... to build on this, one feature that would be helpful would be something that helps navigate viewports, so that if you're 'stacking viewports' in layout to achieve a look, you can easily flip between the viewports you've inserted... (I'm hoping you'll tell me this feature already exists). Either way, these new 2020 features in Layout are awesome.
I think this new functionality is a big win for layout! This will speed up my workflow in layout as I do not have to back to SU and switch off a layer/tag eg. What I would like to have in Layout in the next version whould be more functionality for measuring in layout. Eg. having the ability for dimensions with high numbers like we are using in the german dimensioning in construction.
So, I need some advise on transfer from sketchup to layout. When I print or print to pdf it is defaltingng to my views that are pulled up on sketch up. It is hard to relay.
Tags in LayOut correspond to Tags in SetchUp. What used to be called Layers in SketchUp are now called Tags. They are used the same way with geometry being created and remaining as Untagged and then assign tags to components and groups.

Thanks, this got me up and running again.

Why is my Sketchup Model box greyed out states 'no model selected' tried highlighting a portion of the drawing, still nothing.
Awesome, thanks.
I would like to know if you can add shorcuts in layout like in Sketchup?
Is there plugins for layout?
Yes! Hell Yes!

Christian Burgoyne I would recommend heading to the forum with an example file. Over there we can dive in and find you a solution!

scratching my head here... Tags in Layout = corresponding layers in Sketchup?
