this is a helpful video in that it shows there are lots of complexities that can happen with hidden geometry. But I'd like to see something more in depth that shows all the relationships, when and why the mesh gets created, and use of the outliner and tags/tag inspector to hide/unhide parts of the model. I've had this mesh appear and still don't really understand it.
I created custom shortcuts for show hidden objects and hidden geometry under the preferences tab, and in combination with a shortcut for show/hide rest of model (and show/hide similar components) editing within groups is fast fast 💨
yeah my custom short cuts are 1) view Hidden, 2)hide rest of model, 3)xray . I have only now realised this does not work above su2018 now as geometry and objects different. I would just put everything on layer before. I might need more shortcuts. It would be cool if you could view object you are editing and just one container above , but i guess this is done with outliner. I have never used outliner as laptop did not like it much. Layers being called tags a bit annoying for me ATM
I want to hide the objects above the level I want without grouping. For example I draw an apartment and I want to work on 4th floor.Can I hide the objects that above it via inputting the bottom level(Z +14,85m etc) of the 4th floor slab? If there is not a such option, would you think add?
Why cant an individual object just have a property "show as hidden" toggle just like the hide or the cast/receive shadows option? You could even give it other options such as show as "Xray" or "Muted" ( the lighter view you see when edit a component).. or even a range of dashed linetypes much more flexible than the dashed lines in layers

Anything can be put on any Tag you like and toggled on or off as you wish!
Add a skill builder on how the state hidden things (including those in "containers" ) can be saved differently in different Scenes.

I think in sketchup 2020, they just put the codes of hidden Manager plugin for hidden object functionality
