So you want to learn a bit more about American Football?
"In June of 1963, Vince Lombardi spoke at a coaching clinic in Reno at the University of Nevada. (John) Madden signed up as soon as he heard about the event. Madden thought he knew everything about Lombardi and his offense. For a young coach, Madden thought he had a lot of football knowledge. 'But I didn’t know anything, ' Madden later recalled. That day Vince Lombardi talked about the Green Bay sweep play. He talked about the play, showed film, covered the normal defensive adjustments to stop the play, how to counter the adjustments and answered questions. The presentation lasted eight hours! He talked about one play for eight hours. "

QB must know the role of everyone the field for each individual play.

Michael Vick had a dog fighting operation and he was using street dogs as breeding stock so they wouldn't fight. He killed them, personally, by holding their head in a bucket of water or looping a rope over a branch and putting it around the dog's neck and lifting it so only its hind legs touched the ground. If those methods didn't quite do the job he grabbed the dog by 2 legs and beat it against the ground. He was getting a multimillion dollar salary yet he wouldn't spend a few cents for a bullet because he enjoyed it. He should have been banned from football forever.

Please watch “Opening for 2017 Army-Navy Game”
Army is the official military school at West Point, and Navy is the Naval Academy at Annapolis. Every year for the past 120+ years Army and Navy play a game of football near the end of the season. It is said to be the only game in which the players on the field are willing to die for everyone watching. They will become brothers in battle, but for 60 minutes they are rivals in the field.

12:34 was a fake handoff and the QB went around the outside and scored.
14:00 that super high snap was done on purpose to give the QB more space to run in with the defence spread out around the field instead of all of them focused on defending the 1st down line. really smart play.

The other thing about QB runs is that they're often not particularly good at it.
There is a lot of specialization in American football, and quarterbacks are usually chosen for things like passing ability and decision making. If a QB is good at running with the ball, that's definitely a bonus, but many of them are not.

In addition to not wanting to get injured, some QBs just aren't athletic (compared to other pros). Most of the great QBs (Manning, Brady) were almost pure passers. However, the newer generation(s) is a lot more prevalent with running QBs (Cam, Russ, RG3, Lamar, Deshaun, Kyler Murray, Josh Allen...)

Quarterbacks that run the ball often are called "dual threat" quarterbacks. Michael Vick, while playing for the Atlanta Falcons was considered the most exciting player in the game back in the early/mid 2000s. Colin Kaepernick, Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson, RGIII, Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, Russell Wilson, Steve Mcnair, and Daunte Culpeper are among the greatest dual threats of all time.

If by any chance you check out individual running backs I recommend Derrick “King” Henry, of the Tennessee Titans by way of the University of Alabama “Crimson Tide”, Best RB in football, well on his way to the Hall of Fame with the insane stats and highlight reel runs. These aforementioned highlights of his should be in any recent running back, best runs video. There’s a reason his title is King Henry and it ain’t from birth rite.
Good video gentlemen, lookin forward to the next.

You are correct that QBs don't run a lot. Most can't run, so that sorts itself out. But those who can, consider there are 32 teams and at any given moment, only about 10 teams are happy with their QB. There just aren't enough humans who can throw a ball that accurately. Therefore, injury is a major concern.

  • @wiggum5136

The fake handoff is called the read option. Where the offensive line leaves a defensive end unblocked. If the end goes after the RB the QB takes the ball or vice versa. It basically ends up that the defensive end makes the wrong decision.

Quarterbacks, particularly at the NFL level, are taught to slide or go out of bounds to avoid getting hit. Most NFL QBs have contracts that total in the hundreds of millions...its basically thought of as protecting your investment by not letting your QB get hit. Its def. been creeping into college football more and more through the years, too.

The quarterbacks are like the field general and are usually the highest paid player on the team. Teams invest a lot of money into a good quarterback to run the offense. So if the quarterback takes unnecessary hits and gets hurt, most of the time it affects your entire teams' chances of going to the playoffs. If you are going to react to running backs, You should check out Walter Peyton or Barry Sanders. They both changed the game. Amazing talent.
