    Athletic plays doesn’t just mean jumping over a player. It’s the agility, power, stamina, etc… of the individual. So running over everyone, jumping, running long distances, leaping for a catch, slipping out of hoods, is all athletic.

    • @ettibbet5493
      @ettibbet5493 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly, look at say Tommy Frazier run in the 95 Fiesta bowl where he breaks 8 tackles and houses an option, play has a lot in it, he jukes 2 players, gets piled up, muscles threw the other 6 and then just out runs everyone

    4:33 it was a great play because he blocked the pass that his opponents were attempting by an huge leap through the air to barely snag the passing ball.

    The one where you asked why is this clip in the video, the guy was flat on his face and got up to his feet through basically sheer core strength. Go back and look at that again. The play's over -- it's not about the play. It's about how he got up. I could *never* have done that.

    It's still funny watching videos like this and seeing the throwback film And remembering how normal that quality seemed back in the day but looking at now against current film I can't believe we actually could tell what was going on

    The pilon its self is considered inbounds and the only thing required to cross the plain of the endzone for a touch down is the tip of the ball

    The incomplete pass to Zay Jones at 6:58 is crazy. Look at how he gets up, it’s like he goes in reverse. You even questioned what’s going on? But I don’t think you truly noticed.

    7:20 the ball just has to pass into the airspace above the end zone while in the control of the player. The orange pylon marks the corner of the zone so if they can touch the inside corner of the pylon it proves the ball was in the touchdown zone.

    • @Alex.Kaleipahula
      @Alex.Kaleipahula 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think of the end zone as a box with a laser wall pointed up on the front back and the sides all you would have to do was penetrate one of those lasers with the ball and it’s a touchdown

    • @AdamNisbett
      @AdamNisbett 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Alex.Kaleipahula Yes, also has to be in control of a player of the team targeting that end zone at the time that it crosses into the goal zone as well - not just that the ball penetrates the imaginary “laser walls”. That seems obvious to those used to American Football, but might not be so much to someone more used to a sport like soccer where the ball being kicked through the plane of the goal zone would count.

    • @jasonweible2834
      @jasonweible2834 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also I'd like to point out that it doesn't matter where the body of the player is when the ball breaks the plane as long as no part of his body is touching the ground on or past the sideline.

    Julio Jones got 300 Yard Receiving against the Carolina Panthers, I was actually at that game. That is impressive. Good stats for a game is 100 Yards Rushing or Receiving, 300 yards passing. If a player scores 2 TDs that's good, if a QB throws for 5 TDs that's good. If the Defender gets a Sack, Interception, or a Forced Fumble in a game that's impressive as well.
    You need to watch a game to get the understanding of it.

    #17 with the Cardinals was a Quarterback. Quarterbacks don't do moves like that. They usually try very hard to protect themselves from injury. They have to get the ball over the white line; it's called "breaking the plane". It is a focus point in the corner of the field for the pylon.

  • @mikesakas

    Try to get a ticket to annual games in London.. I would recommend somewhere around the 20 yard line about half way up the bottom section. You're high enough to see the whole field and the plays develop, you can see the goal line and hopefully half the time the plays will be right in front of you.. if you're on the 50 yard line sht always is happening down there somewhere.. too low and you can't see the far side of the field. There are a couple of bars in the Fiztrovia section that show NFL..

    The ball has to be in your possession and cross the "plane of the goal line" to be a touch down. It does not have to be touched down in he end zoen as it does in Rugby. It just has to go over the line. If you hit the orange pilon, you're in.

    For every question you have asked about the game: Google the rules of the sport. Also, the flips and jukes are mostly glam, like dunks in basketball. The catches, whether one handed, keeping feet in bounds or in intense coverage showcase immense concentration, skill and/or situational awareness. Finally, many of these great plays have more to do with the teammates of the player than of him himself. Whoever made this compilation is a plebeian

    The goal of every play is to advance the football as many yards as possible, hopefully to get inside the end zone for a touchdown. Sometimes the announcer says, “Good play,” when the player advanced the ball many yards to get closer to the end zone. These crazy plays don’t happen very often in a football game. Some of these clips are from much older games.

    1: For a quarterback to run forward, straight into defenders is a highly unusual thing. They're more often going to the sidelines, or trying NOT to get hit.
    2: "Good play". This one confused you a little. The "good play" was the guy that touched the ball, but didn't catch it was a defender, not the intended target. He interrupted the throw, eventually causing a turnover (the other team gets possession of the ball).
    3: Technically, they're not running to hit that orange pylon in the corner. They're aiming for the single blade of grass at the very corner where the pylon sits.

  • @gunny2044
    @gunny2044 ปีที่แล้ว

    In order for it to be a touchdown the football has to break the plan of the goal line. The plan of the goal line is the leading edge of the thick white stripe. There are four orange pylons that mark the four corners of the end zone, therefore the front pylons mark the leading edge of the end one, if the ball touches them, it is a touch down.

    My son, each line is 10 yards. If they don’t make the ten, they make it to the second, which is delineated. So that would be a second and ten. They need ten yards to go ahead. The field defines how this goes.

  • @raspycellist
    @raspycellist ปีที่แล้ว

    For it to be a touchdown, only the tip of the football has to break what's called the plane. It's an invisible field that's obviously not, right of the goal line, the player does not have to cross. But they do have to be in bounds.

  • @thomassmith-s4i
    @thomassmith-s4i 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The ball just has to touch any part of one of those orange pylons and it's a touchdown- that was one of the most remarkable plays of athleticism in sports history... By the way, you can make great plays on defense too... and if you intercept a pas or recover a fumble, a defender become an offensive player instantly. And the more flips a player does, his odds of having a disastrous, career-ending injury- or a broken neck and instant death- increase exponentially. Which is why you seldom see flips.

    Also, the one where you asked why did they say good job to the guy who looked like he was trying to catch the ball but just hit it, it’s because he wasn’t really trying to catch it but trying to stop the other guy from catching it. The guy behind him on the other team is who that ball was meant for.

    Okay so basically with American football. You want to get the ball down the field and score a touchdown. You have 3 free plays to do whatever and 1 play to decide wether you kick the ball down the field, or go for it on 4th down and risk losing the ball at that spot. Although, if you get the ball 10 yards down the field pass the yellow line you gain all your downs back. So anytime a player passes a yellow line and starts celebrating it’s because they now have a new set of downs. Celebration in football goes beyond just touchdowns, but for first downs, preventing big plays, etc… it’s very often I see these videos and people are like “why aren’t they flipping around?” Because that’s pretty rare in the nfl and is why they make lists like this. The majority of plays in the nfl are more like chess

      Also you’re the only reactor I’ve seen watch these running backs break ankles and knock people off them and just stare at the screen like “where’s the flips?”

    Check out a video on Earl Campbell. He was a running back for The University of Texas, And played in the NFL for the Houston Oilers.
    The man was an amazing running back. He was like a human tank. He was a beast. Nobody could tackle him. It always took at least two men to take him down, And they would end up taking a ride on his back for a few yards in the process.
    A girlfriend of mine sat next to him for a picture once. Just one of his thighs was bigger than my entire girlfriend.

    If a player has possession any part of the ball breaks the threshold of the end zone it's a touchdown, the orange pylons are on the goal line.

    It’s out. Remember that each stripe on the field is 10 yards. Their is nothing between football and hockey and basketball.
