I started to bawl when you (Alex and David) asked the first question. I was hardly heard by the adults in my life. My child is silent whenever I tried to communicate with him. I'm guilty of doing what my parents didn't do -- listen to me. I like the question of "What are you thinking and/or believing?" You are correct that asking how my inner child feels is not meaningful. I've done long 20-page journals in one sitting without any resolution. Perhaps this is why my inner child is silent. Thank you for these insights.

Great job. You make our lives wu wei better!
My inner child isnt so anxious about itself but about the planet, all species, forests, climate.
Because our species alone is destroying everything else's habitat, oceans, forest, etc, I've felt responsible for it from 11 years old thru middle age. I take action daily, but nobody's actions alone can stop this madness. It sends my inner child into sobbing or angry despair at times, especially under a corrupt leadership here in U.S., where propaganda so abounds & hides reality.
The outer me plants trees, creates habitat, shares native plant seed, builds topsoil, but the only thing the inner me can do is pray for divine intervention, so there's this huge open gap.
Maybe it's enough. I doubt I'll ever feel happy & ok about this dispiriting vast waste, animal suffering & our human oblivion till my life's done & I'm seeing things from another realm. It's just hard for the inner kid to feel at peace when i & my species are destroying ancient, vital, living stuff all around ourselves as if life does not matter.

      Hi Liza,
      Thanks for your share.
As you will appreciate it would be inappropriate for me to comment on personal issues without full knowledge, history and background. Therefore I can only comment in general terms.
I can understand that the part of your mind we are labelling the Inner Child would be concerned about current environmental issues.
I would want to teach her about the cycle of nature and the universe over millions and millions of years are far more powerful than whatever humans can currently do.
The power of the universal flow will ALWAYS overcome anything that is unbalanced and unnatural. Just as water can warn away the hardest of stone and rock. Just look at the Grand Canyon.
I would encourage her to live her live in balance and harmony and to set good examples for others to follow. You CAN make a difference.
Remember the teaching, if a grain of rice can tip a scale, then you can make a big difference one little step at a time. You too can move mountains 😊

Thank you Alex and David. I’ve followed your videos from the start and am so grateful you have shared them with us. I’ve been talking with my inner child for years regarding some anger and sadness. What you said was profound regarding the beliefs from these emotions. I’m going to start patiently asking what my inner child believes about himself. Hopefully I can start coaching and supporting new beliefs to come through. I’ve been struggling with self-sabotage for many years and looking forward to healing and continuing this journey. Thank you!

    Hello Alex and David....
Yes I think I catch a thought from your video...
Why does man treat his inner child worse than how he was treated?
I think the reason is because he believes that's a parenting way he has to do to himself, as he sees it from his parent or society...
Again, the familiarity takes a big role here...
So yeah, it's tremendously beneficial if he considers reparenting and cultivating new way of self talk with his inner child....

Thank you so much for this series of videos. Its the only real meditation based spiritual guidance for dealing with childhood trauma which doesnt cost a fortune. It also just so happens that Iv been stuck with unconscious anxiety for some months. I can only see my therapist next week as she's been on a month's leave. I hesitantly took the decision not to go to her locum but wait for her and in the meantime see how much I could figure out by myself. Your previous video on dealing with anxiety asked us to look closely at what baggage we brought out of our childhood other than just trauma. What an amazing revealing question, it was so helpful. Iv spent a month looking at the whole of it saying "what am I missing?" So much gratitude. Thank you.

My parents were divorced when i was 10, though i grew up with my father. my stepmum had turned him into a monster. Soon when my half sister were born, i lived like a thin air. So i never understood the meaning of being properly loved and cared for, hence i had also bad relationship with men. Its hard for me to let go of this pain and forgive them. My parents would have listened to me, but for some reason I chose not to tell them when traumatic events happened to me. I have often asked myself why, but I don’t come up with any satisfactory answers. I thought if I ignored what happened to me, I could resume a normal life, and no one would have to get upset all over again.

Hello Dear Wu Wei Wisdom people:) I want to thank You for what You are doing here. I found You by " accident" and now I feel like this is something that may help me to finally connect with my true self. I am gaining more wisdom through Your videos and each one of them is helping me understand myself more and discover the ability to actually be a parent for myself. But I have a question which is very important to me. In my relationship I experience one particular problem , I concentrate my focus on lack of intimacy with my partner. We have problems with that and when he is in my opinion " avoiding it" or just not interested I feel like my world is falling apart and then usually all my inner child reactions come to the surface. Can You help me understand it more? Can this be connected to abandoned inner child type?

New subscriber. Thanks for the great insights 👏
How would you begin the conversation if you were going into a session with a specific problem in mind? (Social anxiety for example)
Or would you recommend we always go into a session with a completely curious attitude and just see what arises in the moment?
    Much appreciated.

    • @WuWeiWisdom
      @WuWeiWisdom  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Kyma,
      Welcome to the community! 😊
If you have a specific problem in mind, like social anxiety, it's helpful to begin the conversation with that focus. Clearly express your concerns and any specific situations that trigger your anxiety. This will guide the session effectively. However, maintaining a curious attitude can also be beneficial, as it allows unexpected insights to emerge.
Combining both approaches can provide a balanced and productive session.
      Kind Regards,
      David

I have a stronghold over me that I am trying to overcome from childhood, I lived with an abusive uncle who hated cigarette smoke and so when he would hit me for no reason I started smoking at 13 and my teenager brain thought “now you have a reason “ now I am free from abuse but I am the one with the horrible long long habit now.

    • @WuWeiWisdom

      Hi Believe in Love,
Thank you for your share, as you will appreciate it would be inappropriate for me to comment on personal issues without full knowledge, history and background. Therefore I can only comment in general terms.
I would suggest you reevaluate some of the words and phrases you are using. Remember, the words you use are the bricks that build the house you live in.
Here are a couple of teachings you could consider.
Habits are your choices set on default. So, consider taking full responsibility for the choice of buying, lighting up and smoking a cigarette. Plus dealing with the ash, butts and smoke smells.
As you will see, there are many choices you are making along the way of choosing to smoke that does not connect to your childhood experiences.
I would suggest that your words like "stronghold" and "horrible long, long habit" are excuses or justifications for not talking self-responsibility for you current choices and learning your Life Lessons.
I hope those couple of suggestions help your meditations on the subject.

In this video it says: "Then you find out that the inner child thinks that because of how someone else acted." The question now: Even when I was a kid, I knew that what my father was doing was wrong. How could I have created a wrong belief if I knew even then that what "someone else had done" was wrong?

    • @WuWeiWisdom
      @WuWeiWisdom  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi @dariomargeli,
Thank you for sharing your perspective. It's insightful to recognise that you were aware of your father's actions being wrong even as a child. However, the creation of a belief isn't always about consciously agreeing or disagreeing with an action. The inner child, a part of your mind that is emotional and sensitive, may still form beliefs based on how it interprets the situation.
Even if you knew the behavior was wrong, the inner child could still internalise feelings of blame, unworthiness, or inadequacy because it doesn’t have the emotional maturity or perspective to process the situation fully. The inner child often personalizes events, believing it must have done something to cause or deserve the situation, leading to deeply rooted and often unconscious beliefs.
Understanding these nuances helps in addressing and resolving these deeply embedded beliefs. It’s about nurturing and guiding that inner child to see things more clearly now with your adult wisdom.
If you would like more support on this journey, feel free to join our community: facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/
      Kind Regards,
      David

@@WuWeiWisdom Thanks for taking the time to respond. The particular incident that came to my mind, I was probably 9 years old. I remember as a child meditating about it and the belief I created and stayed with me is that my father is garbage, he is to blame not me, I didn't do anything wrong, I am worthy, I'm just trapped with an inadequate parent. I wish I had a good parent like my school friends. Is that internalizing a feeling of "inadequacy"? I remember feeling it more like "how strange the father is like this". The internalizing was more like "what am I supposed to do"? As an adult I simply feel anger that I had to go through that as a child? How would I decrease the energy of that anger? ----- ---- Regarding the forum, I had signed up, but unfortunately there were a number of people, "3", who instead of responding to the question, projected on to me things that have nothing to do with me, don't represent me, making assumptions about me without knowing me. And providing zero "knowledge" and no answer to my actual question. So, I felt actually triggered and unpleasant. A few people did respond, but overall the experience was more negative.

Hello. I am wondering if our inner child speaks the same language we do? I learned English after immigrating to the States at 12 years old. I didn't speak any English before then, and I am wondering if she speaks English... Perhaps a strange question :)

    • @WuWeiWisdom
      @WuWeiWisdom  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @meryemkeskin9561,
That's a fascinating question! The concept of the inner child often refers to our emotional self-the part of us that holds our earliest memories and feelings. It's not so much about the literal language but more about emotional expressions and needs. Your inner child might connect with experiences and emotions from before you learned English, using your native language as a comfort zone. However, as you've adapted to English, your inner child also integrates and resonates with this new part of your identity. It's a beautiful blend of your past and present selves coming together. If you’re curious to explore this more, consider joining the Wu Wei Wisdom community: facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/. It’s a supportive space for such intriguing reflections.
      Kind Regards, David
