Great video. I am a bit behind the times and willl be doing this upgrade to my Original Ender 3, although I have never had any problems with it. I am puzzled by the comments on the "noisiness" of the machine. I do not think it is bad at all, and far better than the terribly loud and headache giving crap "music" the neighbours play all the time. With all my doors & windows closed, and the curtains drawn, that crap "music" still drowns out the little noise of my Ender.
Bought a used Ender 3 Pro that already had the touch screen installed. I just upgraded to the v2.0 board and picked up the BLTouch, a Micro Swiss hotend, and a dual gear extruder. Hotend fan was melted to the old (aftermarket) hotend, so I had to rotate my main board cooling fan to the hotend and borrow my Raspberry Pi 4B and 5V fan (waiting on buck converters to ship still) to temporarily cool the board so I can print my Hero 5 fan ducts for the Noctua fans. Your video helped me figure out the touch screen control board. I now know I'm missing the black serial cable, explaining the "No Printer Connected." Also, my BLTouch did not come with brackets, so I have to print them as well (on a printer that isn't running yet). Quite the juggling adventure, but this video is helpful and added to my resource playlist to review again later. I have zero experience with 3D printers.
The stock ender 3 boards have both the part fan and electronics fan wired to the same power connection so that if you turn the part fan off, the electronics fan also turns off. I was wondering if the v2 board has separate power controllers for the part fan and electronics fan?

Does the skr mini have the same issue as the original ender 3 board where the electronics fan and part cooling fan are wire to the same place? This is a serious issue if printing with the part cooling off which would also turn off the electronics fan.

This is a good video, however, the wires that I have to the BL Touch are Blue (Not Brown), red and yellow and black and white. Why is that not mentioned? I have both versions of 1 and 2.
So what display did you use in Marlin? i keep getting this error: "Only CR10_STOCKDISPLAY, ZONESTAR_LCD, ENDER2_STOCKDISPLAY, MKS_MINI_12864, and TFTGLCD_PANEL_(SPI|I2C) are currently supported on the BIGTREE_SKR_MINI_E3."
@@p0st4L yes. it doesn't matter. since it has its own CPU, the TFT35 runs its own software and simply talks to the SKR MINI via commands and ignores all of those Marlin display settings. I left it on the stock cr10 display. but you can also comment them all out too and use to display. All the display settings are for if you are going to hook up a screen that the SKR Mini has control of. Like the Zonestar LCD display or the CR10 display. Also, you will need to use VS Code to flash software( i think its a version of marlin or similar) onto the TFT35 similar to the Marlin one for the SKR Mini to get it all to work properly or if you want to change the icons and such.
my part cooling fan and motherboard fan comes on but the front facing heatsink fan doesnt turn on. any ideas why? i double checked the wires i saw in this video you didnt plug in the front facing fan

I got a 3D touch for my SKR Mini E3 2.0 and have set it up the same way you have but all I get printer starts to load with it in and then shuts down. If I try without the 3D Touch plugged in the printer loads fine. The wires are a different colour to your touch as mine are blue, red, yellow, black and white in that order.
Following this video I was able to successfully make both upgrades. Did have to watch another one of your videos to figure out where the screws were for the Ender Pro.
Great video! Downloaded the BLTouch firmware and it seems to work. Problem I’m having is that the nozzle is way to high. I tried the z off set function but it will not move down. What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated.
I second this Comment. Nozzle is too high and can't set Height of Z lower than 0.0 on Printer settings. Basically AutoHome ends in the air when the Probe hit's the bed.
Hi, the nozzle is too high because the Z-offset is set to zero. You need to calibrate this value. The z-offset value will vary according to the BLtouch support mount you use. While printing, use the babysteps feature and move the z down untill it's at the correct height. Then, use that value for the z-offset and store the value. Start the printer again and check. The z-offset value will vary according to the BLtouch support mount you use. As a note, our Z-offset value is -1.2
Figured it out! It’s a repeat process of autoHome, zeroing the Z axis, and then offset Z probe. 1) AutoHome 2) Lower Z axis down to 0.0 3) Check how far the nozzle is from the surface. 4)Adjust the Z offset with control/motion/z offset 5)Store Setting 6)Repeat until the nozzle is where you want it.

You say to remove the tinned ends and that the crimped ones are safer. Why's that just out of curiosity. I just replaced this board and didn't crimp on new ends, is that something I should be planning to correct soon? Thanks for the video, it was great
Hi, from stock, the ends are tinned with solder. When you tighten the screw type connectors with tinned ends, these will be crushed and will not make a perfect conection. With time, it will increase the contact resistance and therefore increase temperature which may eventually melt your connector and wires. For safety and performance, it's recomended not to use tinned ends. The correct (and professional) method is to crimp ferrules.

Okay guys so the problem was i tightened up the screws on the display too much (well actually i didnt tighten theb much at all but it seems like it was to much anyway), so the display got preassure from the metal platr it is attached to and because of that it didnt work! I used some washers to get some distance between the screen and the metal plate and now it works perfectly fine

Brian, in the touch options there is a symbol for the extruded. When you press that you should get a screen that has a load and unload option. I just use those. I set the amount to move the extruded to 10mm and press according. If you were thinking that there was a feature to totally unload or load the filament in one touch, I have no idea. My new Tronxy xy-2 pro does have that feature to load or unload and when either is pressed the entire length is either loaded or unloaded from extruded to hotend. Now to just get the rest of the settings to work.

@@ruiraptor yes I tried to update the firmware, when I insert the micro SD and turn on the printer nothing happens it just stays on the start up Screen. Then I tried to put back the motherboard that came with the printer and it works fine. So maybe I got a broken skr mini board?
Hi Rui, make sure you have the serials correctly defined in Marlin. Also, make sure the serial cable is connected correctly on the board and on the display.
I replaced my stocked Ender 3 Pro board and screen with the SKR Mini E3 V2 + TFT35 as shown in this video. I ensured the motherboard fan is plugged into fan1 and parts cooling fan is plugged into fan0 (as shown in this video). After installation, as soon as I turn on power, the parts cooling fan runs a full speed. I haven't done anything to the firmware that came on the board; just turned on power. Why is the parts cooling fan running when I'm not even printing anything?
Hi, what about the electronics fan? Try using the menus and turn the layer cooling fan on and see what happens to the electronics fan. If they are swiched, then reverse the connectors. If they are not switched and the layer cooling fan is still always on, then maybe you have a faulty board.
@@ruiraptor I was confused. It's the hotend fan (i.e., the fan with the wires screwed in to the two power connectors next to the main input power connectors) that's on all the time, just like on the stocked Ender 3 Pro motherboard. Can this fan be controlled by firmware on this SKR board, or should it be left on all the time?
Hi Brian, sorry for the confusion...let me clear things up... The board has the same size as the original one and with the connectors at the same place so the fisical installation is easy. However, for the Ender 5, you need to flash a new firmware on it because the firmware that comes with the board is for the Ender 3. Having said that, you need to compile (or download one for this board and for the Ender 5 ) for it to work.

I second this Comment. Nozzle is too high and can't set Height of Z lower than 0.0 on Printer settings. Basically AutoHome ends in the air when the Probe hit's the bed.
Hi,
the nozzle is too high because the Z-offset is set to zero.
1) AutoHome
2) Lower Z axis down to 0.0
3) Check how far the nozzle is from the surface.
4)Adjust the Z offset with control/motion/z offset
5)Store Setting
6)Repeat until the nozzle is where you want it.

Great video - very helpful. Amazingly so, thank you! Can you tell me what wire gauge your wire ferrules are, please? Thanks!
Can i connect the bltouch v1 to ender 3 v2 board??
Hi. I have a Ender 5 pro. I been looking like crazy how to install the firmware as you do to Ender 3. I have Ender 5 with skr mini e3 v2.0 with bltouch. Could you point me some video or info how to fix the firmware to my printer? (Im new. Only a few weeks with 3d printer) Thanks!
I just performed this install minus the bl touch. Im having issues when homing, the head keeps moving and hits the end stop but acts like it doesn't see that it hit and the motor keeps running. It sounds bad. Is there something that I missed during the install?
i was having the same issue and was up for 2 nights. you need to make changes to the firmware.
I had the same issue, I accidentally put the x axis in the z motor because there's 2 z motor connectors.
@@tips1483 I need to check that, I haven't had time to look at it again but I did mark all of the wires with masking tape so I'd like to think I didnt plug the wires on wrong, but there's also the possibility that I'm just incompetent and marked the wires wrong when I thought I was being smart. It happens.... way too often imo.
@@shade_angel1445 on the side opposite of the screw in power connectors it has text on the pcb that says if it’s the X Y Z or E (the first letter of a 2 letter combination of letters) and you’ll notice there is two that start with Z
@@tips1483 I want to say that I saw there were 2 Zs and was surprised, I read it was for a dual Z setup since I guess people do that. I'll have to take it back apart to check when I get back home.
Fantastic tutorial for anyone changing out their board, nice work.
Thanks a really great guide, helped me set mine up with an Ender 5 Pro and BL touch!
Hi ! Thanks for your video it will be helpfull for my next upgrade. I'm wondering which Bl Touch Mount you're using
Is it possible to conect a ender 3 v2 display?
Hi Felipe, we didn't try that yet but we believe that, if you enable it in the firmware it might work.
My only issue, is the download of the firmware on github, and the choice of which file to modify, but nothing is said about this.
Great video as always :-)
Thanks for sharing :-)
Thanks for this. The official video from BIGTREETECH doesn’t show the one end of the TFT cable having 4+1 pin connections instead of 5 which caused me to hook up incorrectly the first time.
ya i saw her fiddling with the 5 pin connecter putting it on the board only reason i put it on right the first time
Works great, with a few changes managed to run this board on old but still pretty good Anet A8. Thanks for tutorial, especially with TFT :)
amazing Video! really at the point, just what i was looking for. thank you so much!
.:thx:. googled for half an hour without a result how to connect the screen but first video on youtube did the job.
Mks Robin E3d or skr 1.4 turbo not is possible installed in ender 3 pro?
Hi, you can also install the MKS e3d on the ender 3 pro as it's plug and play too. You can check our video here: th-cam.com/video/k9A8JYxBvqE/w-d-xo.html
Where'd you get those ferrules?
Hi, the ferrules can be found easily on any electric local store. You can also find them online at stores like amazon, banggood or aliexpress.
@@ruiraptor I tried looking for them after your video, but I'm probably using the wrong term. Do you have a direct link?
Soo anybody know how to enable the BLT in configuration.h?
Seems like that part is missing
the bin file is in the description
thought i would join as a patron but paypal doesnt work? wanted to download the bin file with the bltouch software you mentioned?
Hi Pablo, thanks for your support. Paypal does work with Patreon.
Regarding the bin file, that file is available for free. Just enter the post and download it.

Excellent video, just got my BTT SKR V2. This will help. Will you do a further in depth BLTouch install video?
Hi Anson, thank you for your comment.
I installed the v2 and tft50 in my ender 3. I updated the firmwares and I cannot get a print from thr touch screen to work. I have to go in marlin mode haha. Ferrules for everything. Creality finally got the hint.
Also do you find the touscreen very washed out. It has no visibility from any angle.
Hi, our touchscreen does not look washed out. Regarding starting the print, do you have problems only when starting the print when using the touchscreen? Are you selecting the correct media to load the files?
@@ruiraptor yeah, I can only see files on media attached to the screen but if there's a card in the mainboard slot I cannot see it in touch mode and I don't think that's how it should work. All the amperage settings for the motors I had to enter in marlin mode and the touch mode. I think I'm going to put the old screen back on and reflash the firmware on the board and get that sorted out and then add the screen I think.
Thank you so much for this great video. Your video is the only one I could find that actually slowed down enough on plugging in the cords that I could clearly see where it went. Either hands are in the way or the video inside is really dark.
Hello friend, my Ender 3 printer and I have the Touch-Mi device for automatic level and plate calibration
SKR Mini E3 v2 0 and I want to flash Marlin 2.0.1, I don't know how to configure the TOUCH-MI.
Can you tell me if you have the Marlin 2.0.1 configured so that EL Touch-Mi works. Thank you
do i need to make sone changes for my ender 3 pro? im talking about your bin file.
Hi Sea, the configurations are basically the same. You can use the same Bin file for the Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro.
@@ruiraptor i did upgrade my firmware with your bin file but pause/continue does not work correctly. I think i have to compile myself. Are you guys will update your pre-compiled firmware from your patreon page? Also i have to say thank you for your clear video. I did open a topic in a forum site in my country and i did put your video to if anyone else needs help.
Hi Sea, thanks for that.
For the pause/continue to work it must be enabled in the firmware. We can check this and publish it as soon as we can.
Do you know how to add the "Change Filament" function for the TFT35?
Hi Brian, if it's in the Marlin mode, it shouold be easy...but for the touch mode i need a bit more time to study it ;)
@@ruiraptor That's what i thought. Please update me once you figure it out. Thanks!
Thank you. Bigtreetech firmware is not working on my Ender 3 Pro. This one from you works very well.
I have an old Tevo Tarantula that I like and don't want to throw away, however, the mainboard is giving me trouble (extruder driver stopped working), Is the SKR mini E3 a good replacement?
Yes, the SKR is a good replacement. Do you have the old MKS Base board?
@@ruiraptor yes, thats the one I currently have. can you point me to any video where I can flash the SKR mini e3 to work with my tarantula?
I don't think there's a video with the explanation for the old tarantula with the SKR mini. Can you contact us by FB instead? Maybe we can help setting up the config files for your tarantula.
Just installed it but then when i plugged it in and turned it on it would start but then it would make a nasty noise and makes what seems to be tiny siren sound. Can anyone help??
Cheers got the info I needed.
I swapped my board and when i turn it on it just stuck on the start up screen, help please!
Hi Mark, have you installed the correct firmware on the new board?
@@ruiraptor yes I tried to update the firmware, when I insert the micro SD and turn on the printer nothing happens it just stays on the start up Screen. Then I tried to put back the motherboard that came with the printer and it works fine. So maybe I got a broken skr mini board?
Hard to say. Can you send the config files so we can check the firmware setup that you are trying to flash?
Rui my printer still saying " no printer atacched" any sugestiion?
Hi Rui, make sure you have the serials correctly defined in Marlin. Also, make sure the serial cable is connected correctly on the board and on the display.
@@ruiraptor thanks i will review that and try again. Once more muito obrigado
Hi, yes, the hotend fan is always on. I'm not sure it's possible to control the hotend fan with this board...we have to check.
Will this work for an ender five
We didn't test but we believe yes.
It says in the beginning of the video it will work with an ender five??A little confused now
Hi Brian, sorry for the confusion...let me clear things up...
Thanks for the video and compiled binary. Unfortunately, when I try to enable auto bed leveling I get an error "Failed to enable Bed Leveling". The BL-Touch seems to work as it passes its self test (10 cycles of probe deployment/retraction) and responds to probe deploy/retract commands. Do you have any thoughts?

Would it be possible for you to provide the source from which you built the binary?
it's compatible for Ender 3 V2 ? thank you
Hi, the ender 3 V2 already has a 32bit board with TMC drivers so, unless you want to have this display (or add extras like filament runout sensor, RGB lights, etc), it probably does not make sense to change it.
Hey nice video and very easy to follow. By the way; what kind of surface are you printing on? Looks awesome.
Hi Keith, we are using the Biqu steel sheet.
Thank you your instructions are clear and on point! couldn't have done it without you! now that bL- touch will be a mess! lol
My board powers up for a second then powers off even though the print fans stay on, did I mess something up?
Either that or your board is broken
Have you seen someone put one of those modern 3d printer boards in one of those K40 chinese laser cutters to replace the awful board they come with (which has no power control for the laser)? I think it would be a cool project
