    That was the most comprehensive video explaining the Illustrator to Fusion capabilities. Many thanks!

      @@TravisDavids You are welcome, Travis. I'll try to throw a few $ your way once I am able. Any tips for modifying the image once the .svg is already imported?

    Ok, this is a great 101 video, but it gets messy beyond what you should here. Great for dropping logos in at non-precision, but how to bring a part in that has specific physical dimensions.
    I cannot find a way to scale the svg after the first - only - chance when you first bring the svg in. You can set the scale once, on entry, and that is it.
    Seems like a lot of hit-and-miss to get things scaled correctly in F360.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH. I HAVE WORKED WITH SVG FILES BUT NOT IN CONJUNCTION WITH FUSION 360. I am very excited about this process. Thank you so much.

    Quick AI tip for helping me make my logo 3d:
    You can use the regular selection tool (black arrow) to select that gear. 1) You can double or triple click on the object (depending on the grouping). 2) Or you can select the whole thing, go to object and ungroup. It'll be much faster and easier than searching for the sublayers.

    Thanks that was very useful especially about getting the image/svg files instead of drawing out the object in Fusion 360...Laurie

    THANKS I have used this method to create objects. My problem is I have tried to turn these images into clay cutters. I have had problems converting complex images. Can you tell me how to draft edges, so the cut edges are sharper? Thanks in advance.

    Is it possible to put dimension on the imported SVG's? I am having a hard time getting the scale to match the exact dimensions I would like.

    Hi T, is there a way you can scale the SVG file to an exact dimension (X/Y)? I see you can scale but I don't see a way to scale to exact dimensions or snap the scale in any way.

    • @rtql8d
      @rtql8d 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've found that imported SVG files are automatically scaled down to 2/3rds their original size in Fusion 360. It's not the best workaround but I just scale my vectors 133.33% of the actual size I want them to be before importing.

    • @axmpssm61
      @axmpssm61 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rtql8d Thanks for the tip. I also find it annoying an svg cannot be scaled to exact dimensions. There has to be a way.

    • @rtql8d
      @rtql8d 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@axmpssm61 There's an easy trick to scale SVGs to the exact dimensions. In Illustrator, select your illustration, click Transform and make sure "Constrain Width and Height Proportions" is enabled. Then take either the width or height of your illustration and divide by 0.75 or 75% (both work). It takes care of the infinite 3s in 133.33333.

    How did you get back to your sketch at 6:34? Every time I extrude one of my sketches, the other sketches disappear. I tried to follow your mouse but it seems like you used a keyboard shortcut. Thank you.

    • @WanderlustWithT
      @WanderlustWithT 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Z Dawson, i used the undo command on my keyboard to jump back in time BUT sketches disappearing after extruding is VERY common. If that happens, on the left side by "bodies", you'll see a category called "sketches" just click on the drop down arrow next to it and find the sketch you were busy with last, its always the last one on the list and just click on the lightbulb icon to unhide the sketch.

    • @crashn
      @crashn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fusion released an update (July 17) that addresses this issue. You now have the option to disable sketch auto hiding on extrude

      Instead of svg, try exporting/importing .dxf (AutoCad Interchange File), I found it more reliable.

    Thanks for the video - great share. I am using Inkscape to create the .svg and simple text is not coming into Fusion 360. Is there something I am not understanding? There are no advanced save options in Inkscape, I am wondering if there is some setting I need in creating the .svg.

      Ok - I should be able to get access to MS Illustrator and will try from there.

    • @axmpssm61
      @axmpssm61 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simple text will not work. You should first convert your text type into Outline. That way your text is now a vector graphic.

    • @rtql8d
      @rtql8d 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      After you extrude an SVG the first time, Fusion assumes you're done with it even though you might not be. All it's done is hide it in the Sketches section of the browser, simply turn it back on to make it visible again.
