One more thing I would like to add that not many people are actually aware of is turning HPET (High precision event timer) off. While by itself it's only a like 1-2% FPS boost, it makes the game feel quite a bit smoother, even though the actual FPS number is the same, and also seemingly more responsive. It worked wonders for when I wanted to run streets on my old 7700K and actually made it playable, and now on my 7800X3D it still is a noticeable difference.
Do you have a 7800X3D tuning video? I have one on the way and it'll be paired with an ASUS PRIME B650M-A mobo and id like to optimize it for Tarkov specifically.
Do you know if the Scalar has any negative impact on CPU longevity? I have mine set to 10X, and it seems stable. Does a higher scalar increase power draw, or provide a more consistent voltage to the CPU? I can't really find good information on this. Thanks!
it basically allows the CPU to push harder in terms of voltage, which technically increases heat. Since the 9800X3D runs so cool anyways, I'm personally not very worried about it decreasing overall life of the CPU. It's just allowing it to reach whatever voltage it needs to stay boosted longer. On top of that, boost clocks are capped by PBO, so it's not like it's pushing the CPU indefinitely. In cases where the temp would go to an unhealthy level, then I'd be worried about longevity. But, even on 10X scalar for me, my chip stays extremely cool in the 50s. Hope that explanation helps. If you're extremely cautious, then remove the scalar setting, but overall I'm not worried one bit about longevity using it after seeing the temps and voltages on these settings.
@@pyurologie Great, thanks! I'll keep an eye on it, and try some other lower settings to see if it changes voltages much. I get about 83C when running Cinebench R24 with 150w power draw. In gaming, it only pulls about 75W and stays around 55-60C with a 360mm AIO.
I'm running 10X with a Scythe Fuma 3 air cooler with 3 fans, max temps 87* in Cinebench R23 with 165W draw. Gaming temps are in the low to mid 60's at around the same power draw (75W). Looks like there's a consistent 5* differential between our cooling methods.
@@dkindig Cinebench R23 this my CPU harder than R24 does. In R24 I get about 83C, but in R24 I get 87C, with a 7X scalar currently. My wattage is lower than yours though, at about 155w in R23. I tried a manual overclock to 5.4Ghz @ 1.240v and temps and power draw were about the same, but it crashed in R23. Interestingly, I can run PBO + 200 offset to reach 5.4Ghz and it passes R23. Maybe I just need more voltage in the manual overclock, but I was already pushing high 87C as it was and didn't feel like trying higher core voltage. Anyways, I'll be happy where it is for now. It's still a huge boost in performance from my old 10900K. :)
Can you point me in the right direction for getting started with tweaking ram timings and such? Maybe like videos/guides I could follow? Most I've ever done is flip on XMP. Best guide and straight forward.easy to understand ,also you are right .
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback! 🙏 Glad you found it helpful!
Nice Manual bro
One more thing I would like to add that not many people are actually aware of is turning HPET (High precision event timer) off. While by itself it's only a like 1-2% FPS boost, it makes the game feel quite a bit smoother, even though the actual FPS number is the same, and also seemingly more responsive. It worked wonders for when I wanted to run streets on my old 7700K and actually made it playable, and now on my 7800X3D it still is a noticeable difference.
I wonder why?
I would like to know what the temps before and after and what type of cooling used.
Do you have a video like this for 7800x3d? sorry maybe i just cant find it
You have xmp disabled for tarkov?
I don't use XMP value, I set my own memory timings.
Do you have a 7800X3D tuning video? I have one on the way and it'll be paired with an ASUS PRIME B650M-A mobo and id like to optimize it for Tarkov specifically.
here's an undervolt video for Ryzen 7000, same settings I use for my 7800X3D: th-cam.com/video/-D2gPn95jS8/w-d-xo.html
I don't even know where to start, or if there's different guides for different ram kits or if that even matters. Thanks, love the vids and they're what helped me solidify my purchase of the 9800x3d!
this is crazy how much of a difference OC made. how were the temp changes or did you not track that?
temps were basically exactly the same.. in 50s in games
I went with Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000mhz. I selected AMD profile 1. When the memory training was done the hertz was set at 6200mhz, 1.4volts. I was confused how 6000mhz can go past what it's set at.
Hello bro :) Can you make a video with the best motheboards you can buy for 9800x3d? Budget, Mid range and High Range.
Can I make the same BIOS specs with an MSI B650 Tomahawk ? Thank you :)
this is my video comparing mobos for 7800X3D, same applies for 9800X3D really
A620 vs B650 vs x670E comparison: th-cam.com/video/p530Zqt7Itc/w-d-xo.html
yes, i use same settings on entry level B650 DS3H no issues
I’m contemplating on upgrading from my i7-12700f to a i7-14700k or i7-14700kf on my b660m plus ASUS motherboard so I can’t run ddr5 on it, but they updated the bios on the motherboard so I’m good to to upgrade just not sure which one would be better for gaming. Or for an extra $100 I could just get the i9-14900k or i9-14900kf I’m looking for which one would be better for gaming I play R6,red dead, apex, gta mainly r6 on all of these games I play medium or low presets/ quality setting. It’s going to be for 1440p/4k
How safe are the voltages that you showed?
If I’m freezing do I just keep lowering the pbo boost by 25 til it stops?
freezing in game or during post?
Will those RAM settings work for my Corsair Vengeance 32Gb (6k @ CL28)? If not, is there somewhere I can look to get the correct settings?
yeah i would like to know aswell
you should be able to run the same secondaries and leave your CAS rating as is lmk if you have questions.

Building a new PC, what are your thoughts on 870 Aorus master? Would I be able to do similar tunings as you did with the 670E extreme?
yes, you should have no issues with an X870 using the same settings. Even my B650 hits the same values. X3D don't care much what motherboard is being used
Hi Pyur, do you use FMF2 in Tarkov or nah?
Getting my 9800X3D in pair with 6800XT and thinking if i need to use it in 1080p. Thanks for video! (360hz monitor)
He has videos with FMF2 but it introduces some input lag afaik
@@themarketgardener ye he said before that from version 2 it is not very noticeable, but i forgot that he is on 4090 now and there is no FMF2, so to rephrase it, would he use it if he had amd card
@avpro3904 yes FMF2 is amazing, the added input latency even with FMF1 was a non factor if starting with 80-100 fps. with FMF2, it wasn't even noticeable. FMF2 is so good. you wont need it with 6800xt for 1080 or even 1440, but you can boost to insane frames with it on if you like th-cam.com/video/mBSij0g8tjY/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
@ thanks a lot for answer man!!! Going to try everything now, just installed 9800x3d, going to be huge after 9600k 🤞
So i can use those same settings without a problem? There is no silicon lottery involved?
most likely yes, I've spoken to a few 9800X3D owners already and all seem to be able to run fine on these settings. If you're having issues, you can lower the CO value -5 at a time
@ also disabling SMT should not affect other games performance right? I did hear that disabling it increases performance in games little bit but i’m not aware of current situation
My 9800X3D can go max. 25- allcore CO otherwise everything runs smooth, thanks mang
no problem, yeah its dependent on your silicon and use scenarios. thanks for sharing!
When you say otherwise everything runs smooth, what happens when things aren't running smoothly? Like are you witnessing frame drops? Screen tearing? Etc
@@lukefloyd9760 Actually everythings runs smooth except for "Streets" on EFT - sometimes you get those FPS dips down to 70-90 but I would say it's still playable.
I reverted the +200Mhz and 10x Scalar boost though. Not worth the heat increase and I went down with the VSOC from 1.4 to 1.25
Sheeeesh! Another one.
🎉🎉
Hello, just curious but why should you disable SMT? Thanks
for tarkov and a lot of games, they're optimized for single core performance. this setting ensures each core is at full capacity instead of spreading it across cores
i cant get infinity to 2200 just 2100 from 2000 any advise? i only changed the setting
you matched voltages as well? sometimes it can depend on silicon, but it seems like most 9800X3D users I spoke to can hit 2200.. lmk
@@pyurologie So i got this ram CMH32GX5M2B6000C30W if i just leave it on XMP and increase the Vcore SOC to like 1.25 is that enhough for Ifinity clock 2200?
@@MexicanBatman As vsoc goes up, you can raise memclk speed better. To help raise fclk, LOWER vsoc. Biggest memory gains are with lower cas and higher fclk. I was running 2133/6400 with vsoc at 1.25, set ram back to expo at 6000, and had to reduce vsoc down to 1.15 for 2200 fclk to stabilize.
@@dkindig Are lower latency ram kits usually better for overclocking too or no? I got the cl28 royal neo and I am wondering if it's even worth overclocking to 6400mhz.
Quick question, does disabling smt mode help on every game? Or is it only for tarkov. And if I'm using process lasso to disable smt for tarkov, is disabling smt on motherboard still necessary?
would this be as beneficial for games outside of tarkov too? or just a bit?
yes, this tune in general helps me in all titles I play
I have a PC with ryzen 7 9800x3d and rtx 4090. Should I do something to give it more power ? Looking at your videos on the streets map I don't have so many FPS.
Have you had any blue screens with your build? I might just copy your setup tbh
nope been rock solid in all games i play, even running -50 now
I have 6000mhz 28cl ram and 7200 mhz 34cl ram , which should I keep
6000 cl28 with 1:1 mode
both are great. need 8000 to not get latency penalty at 1:2, my 7200CL34 hits 8000 but it depends on your silicon and whether you want to tune. 6000CL28 will be more "plug and play" to an extent
@@pyurologie I'm getting higher scores with 7200 mhz then 6000mhz in 3dmark, what are the settings for 7200->8000 , the voltage and latency, can you please help me out!!!
I have a full all new pc build with 9800x3d with everything identical to what you used in this video except the gpu. I either want to find a good black friday deal or possibly buy a used gpu. What do you recommend? I ONLY play tarkov and dont really want to spend a lot on the graphics card.
congrats! well good thing about tarkov is that cpu is the star of the show. what resolution are you planning to play? then i can give u my recommendations

thats a steal! nice find.. yeah unless you want a specific feature in the BIOS id just go with the latest official release
I think I have D-die ram... is there different RAM timings I should use? or just not bother with it and just do eveything else in the video?
is it normal if my boost clock override aint stable at 200
it can be dependent on your silicon. Maybe try lowering to 150 and test stability

is ok if i use the cpu settings from this video and for ram to use xmp ?
yeah absolutely
Im New to undervolting is this safe for my CPU?
yes, completely safe to undervolt. there's no way to damage hardware with undervolting because you're actually feeding it less voltage to try and maximize efficiency.
How is the performance with streaming. I currently gonna try your setting. Performance on games like Hunt Showdown, my performance tanks when trying to stream. Compared to a 13900k ecores off. Locked at 5.6 all core. 7200 xmp. Was thinking on sending this 9800X3d back. /sadface Hopefully this video will help change my mind.
Let me know what happens. I have the 9800x3d here. It was going to retire my 13900k. So far I can’t see why i would. Doesn’t seem to be worth the $1000 (cpu/mb)
streaming performance is great. it really depends on your stream settings. Here's a recent single PC stream playing in 4K with amazing performance th-cam.com/users/livesSOo-YZ1cQU?feature=shared
I found stuttering to be a problem with SMT off in BLOPS6
I need same tutorial for 7800x3d so hard...
here's an undervolt video for Ryzen 7000, same settings I use for my 7800X3D: th-cam.com/video/-D2gPn95jS8/w-d-xo.html

Very new to actually tweaking BIOS settings, is there any risk for the cpu with doing all of these steps?
Can't wait to come back to this video to learn how to optimally underclock it whenever I get my antec flux pro in canada(if its ever in stock) and my 9800x3d. IT STILL HASNT SHIPPED. And our parcel service is on strike which sucks. Probably will get it around December I hope before next wipe.
I am curious though, what motherboard would you recommend, I was thinking the b650e taichi, the x870 steel legend, or the x870 taichi even(since I feel like this board will be good whenever the 11800x3d comes out. Only reason I'm thinking about getting it). I know the nova is really good too but, its sold out everywhere in Canada and its like 100$ less than the taichi so I might aswell go top end top end if I am going top end. Do you think the x870 steel legend would hold up in 2 to 3 years whenever the next x3d chip drops? Since it will be on am5 too. Just curious about your recommendations or advice.
is 100% safe for cpu?
yes it should be fine. if you're worried about longevity at all, then maybe skip the scalar setting step. otherwise, everything else is not pushed very much
I'm not seeing a pbo limits setting on my Asus tuf B650-e board. Running the latest bios. Is this an issue?
Why in some games like Thronz and liberty or STALKER but in loading shaders for stalker my cpu is used 100% ? This used is just for stalker when he was loading shaders in loading screen but in Throns and Liberty in a main city sometimes my processor goes up to 80/90% used sometimes not , is 9800x3d and all cores are 5225 mhz ? Quock.qiestion about ram. Does it matter if it xmp or expo r set?/if I get a intel xmp r set does that affect performace?

@pyurologie that would be great! When would you like to do it?
Does smt affect the game that much ?
i haven't done a test specifically testing only SMT yet but it's the ideal setting for gaming technically
You go from 400fps at 2k to 200fps at 4k? oof. Curious how the 5090 will peform in this. Debating on going for a 4k 240hz monitor or 2k 480hz monitor in my next build. Great videos btw!

I currently have a Ryzen 7 5800x …is it pointless to switch to a ryzen 7 5700x3d for tarkov?
You would actually benefit from a boost greatly, I switched from a 5800x to a 5800x3d when it was on a big sale, and in labs I can hit like 200 to 300ish frames. On maps like woods I average around 150 to 250 etc. The only map I struggled with was streets but, that is the most demanding map.
You can check out his other videos but, this game is geniuenly really cpu/ram dependent. Especially on the vcache. That would be a massive upgrade for you in tarkov and many other vcache heavy games like farcry 6 or Baulders gate 3 too if you are thinking of doing a small upgrade for now.
@ I watched his 5700x3d vs 5800x3d comparison and will probably upgrade to the 5700x3d simply because I can’t find any 5800x3d’s. And it’s basically the same performance for cheaper …more or less.
