How do we know about how much cores should we give to the processes? You've said like in 17:14 you don't recommend browsers to be on just one core. I have a i9-9900k which has 8 cores - 16 threads. I was thinking about giving only CPU 0-1-2-3 to background processes like Discord, Chrome, GHub etc. and giving the remaining cores to Tarkov specifically. Will 2 cores be enough for all of the background processes?
Two cores may still be a little slow as daemon said. It depends on the task. Chrome and discord will suck on one or two cores, but background tasks or RGB apps will be fine on one or two. For example, Corsair ICue or Razer or Steelseries or Logitech apps you should be fine with on one or two cores, but having apps that you specifically interact with a lot (browsers, discord, etc), may be slightly sluggish if those cores are maxxing out.

(edit: i just noticed you showed it later in the video)
Do you recommend basically setting the affinity for every single process that isn't the game you're playing to core 1 ? Cpu 0 and 1. For 8 hyperthreaded cores - cpu 2-15 assigned to game - cpu 0,1 assigned to everything else ?

Probably this would defeat the affinity, no? As in this way they would not be solely for tarkov...
Hello! I have an 5700X3D, i would have better performance or worse performance on Tarkov by setting it to run through 2-15 cores? You said in the dual ccd, that the first core has X3D memory and the others not, its the same for the 5700X3D? The first core has X3D cache and the others not?
You forget that you can name the cpu affinity rules... for example of you have 2 CCD's and you wan't an application to run only on on CCD1, you make an affinity rule and when you want a process to run on just CCD1, just click cpu affinity -> always -> CCD1

You don't want to have tasks that you commonly interact with only on the first core- only things that run in the background. @@klemintime1452 that's great thanks, this is new to me but starting to understand. Had to allocate 3 cores to keep my browser working correctly for example. Seen an improvement in Tarkov for sure.
How much could you really put on your ecores without running into system lag? For example I have put firefox, steam, discord and a few other minor programs on them so far. Tarkov I have just tried turning off cpu 0 and cpu 1. I have i7 13700k so a decent cpu and my gpu is a 4090 and 64gb ddr5 ram. Windows 11 has been a bit sluggish at times and it can sometimes freeze randomly for 2 seconds when I open a program so I thought I would see if putting programs on the ecores could help with that but I think it is a bug with windows 11 as it never happened with windows 10. Would I likely see any benefit sorting things out with process lasso with my rig?
If those apps are only on the e-cores, it can feel very slightly more sluggish, but with them on those e-cores you will not have to worry about them interfering with the game at all. HOWEVER; be careful with what apps youre putting on those e-cores. Do not sort crucial windows processes around that are associated with SYSTEM as that could be making your browsing slugging (for instance with dwm.exe that could be an issue). Keep it to extra apps you've installed on the system to avoid issues like that.
Question....if one was to use the Ecores for OBS well straming would that help the game out rathen then using all the cores for both OBS live streaming and gaming at the same time?
That's exactly what I do! I throw OBS on my 8 E-cores and I've had very little issue. Feel free to give it a go, as it can help a lot *especially* if you're using x264 as the video encoder.
My windows install is pretty clean most of the time so adjusting these doesn't help my performance a lot. For those CPUs with dual ccds or CPUs with a TON of necessary background tasks, this can be a lifesaver though! It just depends on the build and the situation.
I have an i12700kf with 8 hyper-threaded P-cores and 4 E-cores and when i look in afterburner while running tarkov it seems like tarkov only ever uses one core at a time. for example one core will be at 90%+ usage and the rest will be under 5%. It seems to randomly periodically change which core it is using. This makes me confused whether I am being bottle-necked by my CPU because the one core is maxed out but the rest of the cores are doing nothing.
i've never seen any performance comparisons with these tweaks, from my experience doing it on multiple cpus theres always a performance decrease for a marignal decrease in process latency, i never saw this as worth, its very game dependent too, on csgo at the time putting all processes on threads and the game on physical core would net -100 fps from the max, reserving the first 2 physical cores to handle processes and the rest (4 cores at the time) would also destroy performance, running everything on all cores would be the best performance, in every game i've tested, maybe it would help on heavily bottlenecked systems where it would give you slightly more headroom but i never had any good from doing this
Good point. It sounds like you probably keep a fairly tidy system, hence why the benefit is less apparent. The main reason why I discuss this is NOT for systems that are light / debloated. Rather, it can be a useful tool for those who have lots of things running in the background and need to insure proper scheduling of those extra tasks to keep performance *conisistent*, even if its a little lower. I would also concede that it would be more beneficial to remove that software, but not everyone is willing to do that. This reasoning is why I personally do not have any benchmarks of it- I would need to build a separate system that has more "normal" levels of extra software to test it out. (Also, there are recorded instances of this software helping others in my PC Sherpa Live VODs if you are interested.) Secondarily, do note the example with dual-ccd CPUs, for instance. In that scenario (especially with CPUs like the 7900x3d and 7950x3d), proper scheduling is ESSENTIAL to getting the right performance, and process lasso can enforce that automatically as well. Its not for everyone, but it can help those who do not have a "optimized" system, so to speak.
Been playing around with this program for a couple of weeks ,and watched many videos , just a question about cores and how to make your pc work with them ( i have i7-8700) which is a bit underwhelming for this game and having so much input lag with 1080Ti ( still rocks all shooting games ) but for some reason this game is a pain and dont want to spend money atm for an upgrade. My question is can you check the Cores ( my case 6 cores +6 hyperthreading ) for the game , i currently tried a guide where i put all the pc programs that are running ( excluding system) on first 3 cores ( ie 2 cores - 1 hyperthread) and tarkov on the rest cores, where everything is quite and stable for tarkov to run, does this helps a bit with my rig or not. Also having a 16gb 3000 Ram , which can be upgraded to 32gb 4000hrz rams which is the max for my MB atm z370-h gaming , would it make a huge difference or just minor?
RAM Speed will help, but it will not be the same amount of gain that you'd see with a CPU upgrade. I'd honestly save the money and use that to upgrade your motherboard and CPU to get a much more modern platform. The 1080ti should do just fine in Tarkov with a more modern processor. As far as process lasso, give tarkov at least 4 of the 6 hyperthreaded cores- its going to want them. I'd personally recommend doing 5 and then sorting out the first core for background tasks (but not chrome or discord, for instance) and seeing how that helps.
@@klemintime1452 Well , ive done it so that my (6 cores +6 hyper) are first 3 for all the apps (except system) then from 4th cpu till the 12th are for Tarkov, also in priority i've set most of the apps to idle and tarkov to High, no idea if that will make any difference. Currently if i get a new CPU it needs MB + DDR5 Ram cuz mine are ddr4 so its a huge deal of money lol , but saving for it is a must i guess , 1080Ti helped me thro all the fps games smoothly no idea tarkov is running on spaghetti engine or what lol .
@@ahmedalaa9736 Its partially that but mainly that tarkov is simply more complex and requires more CPU horsepower to run well. I'd save and plan to upgrade platform but keep the 1080ti as that will still play 1080p tarkov just fine.

Dumb question but i didnt really understand the part on which CPU cores to use individually. Ive got a 7800X3D So is it correct if i pnly checkmark CPU cores 0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14? This would be used on Escape from Tarkov only
Sorry for the super late reply, but that would just be disabling hyperthreading. If that's what you want to do, then that's good. However, if you just want to say disable the first core for Tarkov, you uncheck 0 and 1, as there are two threads going to one core.
Process lasso aside. What kind of settings are you running on the intro to get such blurry textures on players and the enviroment? :D Also... Any idea can Nvidia Inspector be used to tweak Tarkov files? Or will that get you banned from the game.
That was me mistakenly running MIP Streaming... it was bad, please don't do it lol Also the only Nvidia inspector tweaks I've done are the Re-BAR forcing that I've discussed in a previous video. That caused no issues, but I can't speak to any other ones right now as to if you get banned from it.
Quick question, what do i do with my i9 9900K and RTX 4070 Ti Super, cause im really bad at undestanding any of this. Already have Process Lasso. Any help would be appreciated.
Neither you have the best possible CPU for Tarkov and a 4090 which the game doesn't even nearly fully utilise. You could legit have a 3080 and still get the same/very similar frames.

If anything, maybe take it off the first core. However, if you have a light windows install, there should be no need for you to mess about with it for CS2 unless the performance doesn't feel right.
If you aren't on Intel's 12th through 14th gen processor, you will not see those buttons. If you *are*, your CPU may not be equipped with any e-cores as its lower in the product stack (i.e 12400f, 13100f, etc)
@@klemintime1452 I have 13600kf and I don't have those E core buttons nor the letter "E" besides the names. Maybe it is because I disabled Hyper-threading from bios?
Sorry for the long wait in reply, but I would not disable hyperthreading. However, if you'd like to, you can do it by following these steps: 1. If you want to have the game attempt to run on all 16 cores without hyperthreading, simply check "Disable SMT". 2. If you'd like to have hyperthreading disabled and only have the game run on the CCD with V-cache (aka the first 6 cores), go to the CPU's affinity and check the even numbers between 0-15. If done correctly, you should have checked 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14. Then, all you need to do is apply!

For the longest time I played with SMT disabled, because the community said it's better for AMD and back in the day it gave me a good boost in FPS. After watching your videos I was curious and started testing different settings in Process Lasso. To my surprise, what gave me the most stable frame rate and CPU to GPU ratio was disabling affinity all together. I'm super confused.
I used process lasso and it greatly helped my performance. I always disable hyper-threading in bios which gives me 10-20 fps depending on the game. I had to stop using it though because elden ring and armored core 6 won't launch with process lasso due to easy anti cheat even though no other games with EAC have done that.
Now I just simply disable hyper-threading and enforce Smart Memory Access or Resize Bar which has fixed almost all my performance problems. Even on streets.
i7-10700f rtx 3070 and streets run on 40fps... nothing is helping this process lasso does literally nothing doesnt matter what is changed... it can only be worsened
@@ArmagedonCS Though this is the case for the games he benchmarked, its different on a game by game difference. Its not always a constant "no" or a "yes"; it differs depending on what you're doing and your own setup. Furthermore he is likely benchmarking without the background tasks that process lasso is meant to control. I was not just talking about setting tarkov only to P-cores either, as I did also see slight reductions in doing so when I benched it a while back. This video simply has a different purpose.

Do not sort crucial windows processes around that are associated with SYSTEM as that could be making your browsing slugging (for instance with dwm.exe that could be an issue). Keep it to extra apps you've installed on the system to avoid issues like that.
does this have a point if you aren't cpu bottlenecked?
Question....if one was to use the Ecores for OBS well straming would that help the game out rathen then using all the cores for both OBS live streaming and gaming at the same time?
That's exactly what I do! I throw OBS on my 8 E-cores and I've had very little issue. Feel free to give it a go, as it can help a lot *especially* if you're using x264 as the video encoder.
Benchmark after and before?
My windows install is pretty clean most of the time so adjusting these doesn't help my performance a lot. For those CPUs with dual ccds or CPUs with a TON of necessary background tasks, this can be a lifesaver though! It just depends on the build and the situation.
Great content you should’ve 10x more repercussion. Could you make a playlist with the must do videos?
I have an i12700kf with 8 hyper-threaded P-cores and 4 E-cores and when i look in afterburner while running tarkov it seems like tarkov only ever uses one core at a time. for example one core will be at 90%+ usage and the rest will be under 5%. It seems to randomly periodically change which core it is using. This makes me confused whether I am being bottle-necked by my CPU because the one core is maxed out but the rest of the cores are doing nothing.
6 months late but this is a Unity problem, only the main thread can assign worker threads to other cores.
What cores should be enabled for the 7800X3D?
Its an 8 core, so you can try the 8 core section (everything except the first hyperthreaded core) and see how that feels.
What about Intel i9-10900k? Im having extreme gpu bottleneck. Im running a 2070 super, can this video help me out?
Can this be done to better an i7 10700k
i've never seen any performance comparisons with these tweaks, from my experience doing it on multiple cpus theres always a performance decrease for a marignal decrease in process latency, i never saw this as worth, its very game dependent too, on csgo at the time putting all processes on threads and the game on physical core would net -100 fps from the max, reserving the first 2 physical cores to handle processes and the rest (4 cores at the time) would also destroy performance, running everything on all cores would be the best performance, in every game i've tested, maybe it would help on heavily bottlenecked systems where it would give you slightly more headroom but i never had any good from doing this
(Also, there are recorded instances of this software helping others in my PC Sherpa Live VODs if you are interested.)
Secondarily, do note the example with dual-ccd CPUs, for instance. In that scenario (especially with CPUs like the 7900x3d and 7950x3d), proper scheduling is ESSENTIAL to getting the right performance, and process lasso can enforce that automatically as well. Its not for everyone, but it can help those who do not have a "optimized" system, so to speak.
@@klemintime1452 got you man thanks for the reply and clear up i appreciate it
Klem means hug in Norwegian

Hi man, first, MANY THANKS for the guide.
I also have an 8700k, thus, 6 cores.
I tend to run only tarkov, so no browser, discord, or anything heavy. Does it make sense to allocate 1 full core for other stuff in background (nvidia control panel, logitech ghub, razor synapse, basically, software for my hardware) and the other 5 for tarkov, or all 6 to tarkov as the rest of the softwares doesn't need much?
Probably this would defeat the affinity, no? As in this way they would not be solely for tarkov...
Dumb question but i didnt really understand the part on which CPU cores to use individually.
Ive got a 7800X3D
So is it correct if i pnly checkmark CPU cores 0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14? This would be used on Escape from Tarkov only
Sorry for the super late reply, but that would just be disabling hyperthreading. If that's what you want to do, then that's good. However, if you just want to say disable the first core for Tarkov, you uncheck 0 and 1, as there are two threads going to one core.
Process lasso aside. What kind of settings are you running on the intro to get such blurry textures on players and the enviroment? :D Also... Any idea can Nvidia Inspector be used to tweak Tarkov files? Or will that get you banned from the game.
That was me mistakenly running MIP Streaming... it was bad, please don't do it lol
Also the only Nvidia inspector tweaks I've done are the Re-BAR forcing that I've discussed in a previous video. That caused no issues, but I can't speak to any other ones right now as to if you get banned from it.
Quick question, what do i do with my i9 9900K and RTX 4070 Ti Super, cause im really bad at undestanding any of this. Already have Process Lasso. Any help would be appreciated.
That's an 8 core cpu. Just follow the instructions on that section.
thanks for the great video klem. i have a 7800x3d and a 4090 am i cpu bound or gpu bound?
CPU but you should be getting good enough fps anyway
Neither you have the best possible CPU for Tarkov and a 4090 which the game doesn't even nearly fully utilise. You could legit have a 3080 and still get the same/very similar frames.
@@bobbyshmurdastoe8703 idk it still seems kinda low on some maps compared to other people that have similar rigs. maybe i need to do some tweaking or something
Tarkov is not a very well optimized game anyway even if its a great game@@lew_7

Hi, I have 2 monitors one 27" at 2560x1440 144hz and the other one is 38" at 3840x1600 144hz resolution
The game runs really well 150+ fps when I am playing on the 27" monitor and the game doesnt run so well on the ultrawide. I tried to downsize my resolution to 2560x1440 on the ultrawide but the fps still stayed bad around 70-80fps. How can I properly downsize the resolution so the game runs like it does on the 27" monitor?
The 27" monitor is going to my wife soon and I wont be using it thats why I am asking for some help
I have the same issue on all games. Even if i use 800x800 resolution, all my games still run like it is in 1920x1200p resolution. FSR works for me in tarkov, and RSR works for me in all games, but that's for amd cards. I forgot what it's called for nvidia.
What would you recommend for cs2 ? I was told to just turn off CPU0 for affinity. I have same cpu as you i5 13600k
If anything, maybe take it off the first core. However, if you have a light windows install, there should be no need for you to mess about with it for CS2 unless the performance doesn't feel right.
hi there,
any sug for 12900k?
which core for cpu bound games?
which for rest app like chrome or edge or discord
8:09 directs you on what to do for that. Essentially just moving background apps to the e-cores is the way to go.
AMD Dual-CCD CPUs (12-16 Cores with AMD) Does this also apply to a 5900X CPU? Thanks.
Yep! Its a 12 core Dual-CCD cpu.
Is there a reason I don't see pcore and ecore buttons?
If you aren't on Intel's 12th through 14th gen processor, you will not see those buttons. If you *are*, your CPU may not be equipped with any e-cores as its lower in the product stack (i.e 12400f, 13100f, etc)
@@klemintime1452 I'm on a 13900f

@@themarketgardener You may have disabled the e-cores along with hyperthreading if you only see 6 CPUs (0-5).
Hi, I’ve got a R9 7950x3D cpu, I don’t know whether or not to disable hyperthreading or how to disable it does anyone have any tips for me?
Sorry for the long wait in reply, but I would not disable hyperthreading. However, if you'd like to, you can do it by following these steps:
Is there anyway you can help me? I get 30fps on streets and I can't figure out how to fix it😢
It really depends on your CPU. If its not powerful enough, Streets is gonna hurt, no matter what GPU you have (mostly).
Should I try disabling Core 0 if i have... 2 cores?
NO 😭
@@klemintime1452 awww :(
@@BlinchixOfRivia Tarkov really wants that horsepower- I would not mess with Process Lasso on a dual core besides if you're using its pro-balance software.

Thanks for the video even if as a French man i don’t undestand everything it helps a lot ! Ty for the time u dedicate to help improving our performance 🫡
I have a Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 3070 8GB and 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM. I'm super confused.
what were your affinity settings? having smt disabled along with core 0? or just core 0 disabled
my cpu is using 20% in menus and in game its staying at 20% while my gpu is 100%??????
then it's gpu bottleneck
I don’t think I need this I actually had a guy help me he was pretty cool

Ive tried this method made my game much worse feel
It's not for everyone- its heavily dependent on what CPU you have and if you have a ton of extra tasks in the background.
I use program ReservedCpuSets and reserve 1 core then system cannot use this core and game got full speed on core 1 .
I bought a very very good pc because i dont want to this shit. Im done with this game.. BSG optimise the game!!
