In areas with large Asian populations, look for an Indian dude with a big beard and a turban (he's most likely a Sikh).
Ask directions to the temple (called a "Gurdwara"), they have a thing called "Langar" (translates to 'kitchen') and it is the term used in Sikh for the community kitchen in a Gurdwara where a free meal is served to all the visitors, without distinction of religion, caste, gender, economic status or ethnicity. The free meal is always vegetarian and sometimes vegan. On top of which, you get to hang out with some of the most humble and chilled people ever!!!

This is very true, I own a construction company and one time accidentally sent my painting crew the address to a hotel right beside the one they were actually supposed to be painting at, didn't find out until they said they were done but the manager at the right hotel said they hadn't been there at all, the employees at the wrong hotel just let them in and gave them keys to the room with the same number without asking anything, if someone was in that room at the time they might not have let them in but since it was empty no one cared and they got a 2 bedroom room painted for free...

I remember hearing a story about a dude doing the press pass thing for free lunches. He'd talk with the real journalists at lunch so as not to stand out. Eventually, he got on friendly terms with some of his local journalists. Then they began asking him to cover for them when they were busy or offering him work, and he did it, 'cause hey, all he had to do was write a bit and he got money.
Long story short, he ended up having a successful career in journalism, all because he wanted some food and was bad at telling people "no."

True. When I moved out, my parents gave me a printer. I almost never used it to save ink and tried to print out important stuff at work when I can.

My wife and I received a Walmart giftcard for our 1st or second anniversary. This was right around the time self checkouts became a thing. She went to the store and complained how crappy the self checkout was, it kept beeping at her. A few days later, I asked her if the card had any money left and could I burn it up. She said sure, its only about 3-4 dollars so whatever. I checked out and it still had $50 on it. She had somehow actually stolen 46ish dollars of merchandise without meaning to. I still tease her about it and call her a thief sometimes.
Regarding the receipt thing, my parents were notoriously cheap, and once bought a ceiling fan that burned out after about 6 months. They had saved their receipt, and returned it for a new one. I think it was from K-Mart, don't remember I was a kid. Anyway, the replacement fan burned out as well. Somehow, a combination of store ineptitude and questionable morals on my father's part mostly, resulted in a string of new ceiling fans about once a year. I guess you could say this was justified as maybe the fan was a lemon since they kept burning out, but honestly I always thought it was due to the sketchy wiring in our 50+ year old house and a bit of a dodge.

I always used a “borrow and invest” trick, so basically I’d borrow like 5 or 6 dollars from my friend then buy something with it. Then after that I’d sell the item I bought to the pawn shop for 2 or 3 dollars more then I borrowed and if they accepted I’d return the money then get the profit. But if that doesn’t work or the pawn shop won’t accept, I’d always do a yard sale. And that is my borrow and invest trick.

Ethical life hack that sounds unethical: go through e-waste for a school/buisness, and there’s almost certainly devices with working parts. You save them money because they don’t have to pay to get it disposed of, and get free hard drives and things like that. Many times if you get caught, they won’t care because it’s saving them money, and if you do decide to ask first, they’ll almost always say yes.

(+-HiddenCracks-) Some places just have them out back like a dumpster. My high school just had a big bin behind the school, so my friends and I would go get free electronic components during lunch for fun. We got “caught” a couple times, but the teacher that usually found us would just let us off the hook because we were just saving the school money so why should they care. My friend found 3 working hard drives in one week once by just taking apart the broken computers in the bin and trying all the drives out. They built up 2 terabytes of storage for free across the school year.

And I have another comment; I actually did have a teacher tell me this but it was just a story she told the class. If you write a well worded, calm, collected complaint, in writing to company; they’ll give you a TON of free shit. Like she got a can of chef boyardee and it was the kind with the twisty noodles and beef, but hers had no noodles, so she wrote a letter to the corporate office and they sent her like four boxes of the stuff for free. They really really really should teach this to homeless people, one letter could feed an entire camp for a month.

The manager made him mad for some reason and wrote the managers name on the receipt. He gave me ticket and said if a managers name is on it, they replace the whole meal. The next day I go through the drive through, generically explain the situation how my order was messed up and said manager wrote their name on the receipt for a free meal replacement. Worked like a charm. I mean they 100% didn’t believe me but there was a managers name on it so they didn’t question. 10/10 would recommend.

18:59 I wish I had known this when I started my career. In business, it's true that all that matters are your connections and confidence. You can have a MBA and constantly work overtime hoping someone will notice all your hard work and dedication- but the people that get ahead are related to someone at the company or are people who are very confident. I used to work through my lunch break until one day, I meant to call my dad during my break but didn't, because I was working through my lunch and my dad died the next day. My extra work was never noticed but I'll never get to call my dad again.

Printers in general are made to make you spend more money. The settings are defaulted to not print if there's not enough ink so you have to buy a new cartridge, which are always kinda pricy. In worst situations, the printer breaks itself due to some idiocy from the cartridge so you need to buy a new printer altogether.
Aside from the Force Print option, a good hack is to get the whole printer modded and set it up to be continuous. You never have to buy another cartridge again, unless it specifically breaks. You just need to buy ink and refill the exterior cartridges, which are cheaper than the original cartridge and it will last you for hella longer.

I used to have a worse memory than I currently do, my difficulty remembering things has led to no one questioning me much if I say I can't remember something. Sometimes I actually can't remember, others it's just I don't want to get in trouble for not doing something and so "I forgot".
Interestingly, I seem to have developed a decent skill-level in lying (and a reputation for minimal lying). The ability to stay calm and feign-confusion lets me easily get away with it if I need to. Of course the fact there have been times I've told the "truth" but actually have forgotten what I did, making it a "true falsehood" all signs point to the truth (because I believe it), but history points to false (because I did it). It's a bit odd.

I'm not sure why some fast food places are supposed to waste leftover food instead of handing it out, but it could be to stop everyone showing up last minute for vast quantities of free items they could have sold earlier if people weren't trying to game the system. It still seems a terrible shame though.
Same with pizza places - colleagues getting their friends to order pizza and not show up, so they can blag a free (albeit lukewarm) pizza at the end of the shift. Paying card over the phone could fix this option though. I never understood people that pre-ordered collection and took hours to show up. I like my pizza after it's just out of the oven!

2:07 Another thing, the three credit reporting bureaus have 30 days to respond to a dispute. If they miss the deadline, the disputed charge is removed. So what you do is get a copy of your credit report, find everything in there you don't want, and file a dispute BY MAIL since it takes longer for them to process. And even then it takes time to follow up on the information with whatever companies are involved. So mail in your dispute in the middle of December. Right when everyone and their grandma is taking vacation, what with Christmas and New Year's. It's not perfect, but it really increases your odds of them missing the 30-day cutoff, and at that point everything you disputed is gone.
9:37 I did the same thing with cigarettes in high school after I turned 18 lol. A pack of Pall Mall 100's was $1.99, which came to $2.10 after tax. I'd sell them for a quarter each, earning me just shy of 3 bucks per pack of cigarettes.
16:00 OK while that is technically a way to get a truck for a day to move something, you can literally rent a truck for a day for like 25 bucks from places like Menards. I'd rather just pay the 25 bucks and not have to deal with all that nonsense.

You have to be smart, but most have a bar code window, you've gotta take that off the new and functioning device and get it perfect in the window fie the scanner and weight the bow right, but they usually don't break the se as long on new returns. If you are 40+ years old, clean and come in nicely dressed and tell them about how it was a duplicate present for an ungrateful kid you don't get a second look. Buy a game for your free system with your profits. Don't do it in your town, when the next customer who comes in to return that box of rocks you just screwed them with gets boned for your crime cry yourself to sleep. Yeah, somebody gets wrecked when you do bad things and it's usually not the billion dollar corporation.

Games top and other game system specific places all know this trick but you can still get away with it at most big box retailers. An old Generation X life hack:
On the old 1980's & 1990's built Coke Cola vending machines "bouncing" the drink select button in a split second would cause the machine to dispense the paid for drink plus 1 or 2 additional free drinks. This was due to a software bug in the machine's software code.

At my university the vending machines would often fail to actually dispense the items because the coil wouldn't always spin quite enough to fully release the item. Instead of people stealing from the machines, the machines were essentially stealing people's money. I guess that in itself was an unethical lifehack for whoever gets the money from the machine lol. Idk if anyone's tried to fix them before since while I've seen official people working on them they may have just been restocking them. If it was the 90s your unethical hack probably would've worked to make the machines just work correctly there, thus nullifying the (probably unintentional) unethical lifehack already in place by the machines and thus making it wrap around back to ethical. Of course that's providing that it can't work when not needed, which is unlikely.

In my office we have a small multi function colour printer (scans, prints, photocopies and emails) that is hooked up to the internet and we get our replacement toner cartridges sent to us automatically when the machine tells the company that we are running low on whatever colour.
But the printer company is greedy and the machine starts warning you the toner is low when there’s still 20% toner left. As I’m the admin, the guys I work with leave it to me to manage that kind of stuff. So I wait until the toner cartridge is at 1% and then swap it out for the one we received weeks before. I didn’t know how to dispose of the empty one safely so I took it home.
I managed to easily pry it open and to my utter delight I discovered there was still tons of toner left. I transferred the powder to a glass container with a screw on lid and now I use the toner for my arts and crafts. I’ve been doing this for a while now and I’m so proud of myself for my frugality and upcycling skills.

It isn’t a good thing to be putting chemicals into the water though and thankfully they have many baits that do similar effects now or using even a cooking oil that is near the same density (API) as water.
