Joe did MUCH better this time. He seemed humbled a bit and turned his hater mentality way down to almost nil. If one is going to be a credible analyst THAT is what you have to do if you want to be taken seriously or you can end up looped into the "Booger McFarland" category where no one takes him serious because he lets his hatred flow and his fanboy attitude rule his mouth. He sounds ridiculous. So keep working on it and I can see you becoming an outstanding analyst. Blake ... you are GTG and a natural at this.

A few points to consider. JJ was playing with an ankle injury the last 3 games. As far as his stats He had not had to play a 4th quarter for the first 7-8 games. I think that may be where most teams underestimate Michigan. Its not what they have done the last few games, its what they are capable of doing. They have special plans/packages reserved for special teams. There is no team more dangerous than Bama this time of year. So Michigan will need to bring their A game which I suspect they will. Its going to be a great team against 2 great programs. I definitely would not bet the ranch on Bama in this game if I were Blake, as Joe said the teams are much more evenly matched and it could go either way. Michigan has not won the big games yet in the playoffs which means that they are due for a payout. JJ and Blake did not delay their NFL draft to come back and play School. May the Best Team Win.

Lmao I think you don't know what your talking about....if 4 of the top 5 defenses are in the big10... that tells you more about the offenses in the league.. how about you look up the offenses the big10 has...Bama has played 4 of the top 10 offenses. Your defensive ratings don't tell the whole story. Your strength of schedule does. And your playing a team that has played the toughest strength of schedule out of the teams in the playoffs.

These two teams played very different offenses. Below are the opposing teams offensive rank
    Michigan's defense vs:
    East Carolina: 127
    UNLV: 46
    Bowling Green: 103
    Rutgers:120
    Nebraska: tied for 116
    Minnesota: 122
    MSU: 125
    Purdue: 67
    Penn St: Tied for 59
    Maryland: 57
    Ohio State: 36
Iowa: 130 (dead last last in yards per ranking)
    Alabama defense vs:
    MTSU: 58
    Texas: 9
    USF:16
    Ole Miss: 15
    Mississippi State: 102
    Texas A&M 52
    Tennessee: 17
    LSU: 1
    Kentucky: 98
    Chattanooga: FCS opponent
    Auburn:89
    Georgia: 8
What does this tell us about the defenses of these teams: Michigan while having a strong defense played against pretty lousy offenses except OSU, Maryland, and UNLV. Alabama, on the other hand, played against many top offenses. Draw your own conclusions as to what defense is better prepared in a big match up.

Michigan plays up and down to their competition. They haven't been a dominate run team this year but when they needed something against OSU they went on a 7 minute drive to finish the game. If UM can't run the ball and JJ is forced to try to throw it all over the yard, they'll lose. I'd argue though that bama will likely not see more variety/looks from a defense then they will against UM. I'm a UM fan and I can't confidently pick UM to win until I actually see it take place. @@mikeses4392one thing u should consider when thinking of this is yes their defense is solid but their offense was atrocious. If ur own defense doesn't have to play as well or ur not worried about the other team scoring much it changes the play calling.
Think of announcers in a game where they say "they are gonna punt here and put trust in their defense that has been playing good". Then think about when a team with really good run play but not so great passing play gets behind in a game by two scores; at a certain point late in the game they can't run the ball and expect to move down the field quick enough bc they need quicker scores. If they aren't good at passing they end up going three and out or only barely moving the ball. This happens alot.
Think back to 2021 when it was Bama vs UGA. Bama couldn't run the ball well against their defense. We need to pass the ball but they had two WR out with injury. Bc Bama couldn't stretch the field it changed the play calling, and while Bama was leading midway in the fourth, UGA went all out at pressuring Bama's QB and won by two scores bc they knew they could stuff the run and didn't have worry about Williams stretching the field.
Look at LSU, they had a solid run game, but that was with Daniels being able to stretch a front seven sideline to sideline, same thing Milroe has been doing. Bama has only recently starting smashing in the run game, but their run is better when Milroe adds a new dimension to it. It was evident in the UGA game this year. In the second half when Bama needed to convert third downs to extend the drive to keep uga from getting the ball back they used Milroe and his legs on some designed runs. These are called X factors.
Penn St had no offense to worry about. Heck I remember back when Bama was sorry as hell they had solid defenses, but the offense couldn't sustain drives, and the defense had to play about 40 minutes of the game and this eventually wears them down. Good teams play complimentary football which is why Harbaugh wants to run the ball and wants to stop the run. If a team can do these effectively they are going to have a ton of success already. Then add in a passing game that doesn't commit turnovers and a team that plays without committing penalties and u have a good team. Discipline is key for that. Heck Bama used to do the same thing when Saban came there. Play disciplined, mistake free football so we don't beat ourselves.
It will be a close match up. If Bama can convert third downs and connect on Milroe throwing deep it could get ugly. Conversely, if Bama makes mistakes by throwing picks or losing fumbles, forcing them to play from behind, it could get ugly in Michigan's favor.

The last 4 of those 6 games were predicted even at preseason to be their toughest games: two top-10 teams, a decent Maryland team sandwiched between those two top-tenners, and then the conference championship game against the #16 team.
We all knew from the get-go that Michigan's "real" season would start in November. So the fact that Michigan didn't blow out its last 4 opponents was never going to be a surprise...signgate or not. Since they sign stealing they've taken a step back lol it also happened to be Penn st, Ohio St, Iowa with a solid defense. Their unwillingness to throw deep, their unwillingness to call RB screens for easy yards, JJ banged up and the O line lost their best player the offense just isn't going well. Going to take a some different play calls and great execution to win this game. Michigan never has the weapons on the outside and when they rarely do like Nico Collins the rest of the team isn't up there. To not be able to have 1 go to wr every season is sad at Michigan. Roman's really good but small and they don't run many deep routes with him anymore. They needed to get Morgan and Clemons involved earlier in the year. But we will see I hope for the best expect another L lol. Defensive turnovers Will be a must. Athleticism is always an issue vs these teams

If you don’t have weapons on the outside to threaten or hurt bama down the field it’s game over. Bama has an elite backfield. Bingo, Michigan doesn’t match up well with bama, because in a lot of ways they are the same style, except bama has much better weapons on the outside to push the ball down the field and Milroe throws one of the best deep balls in the country, so they will not be able to stack the box like bama will against a mostly one dimensional Michigan team.

    Summary from a Bama guy.
The only way you can stop Milroe is to push our OL backward into Milroe. I’m not sure Michigan can do it but I’m sure it is possible? At the first of the year our OL sucked but they have improved by leaps and bounds and they are playing lights out. Our LB’s & DB’s are elite. If we are in the correct Defensive package we will be able to limit the Michigan running game as our defense is very good. Not worried at all about the air game. Michigan can find success with passes to our middle but we will shut down most everything else. Michigan will gain in the neighborhood of 275-300 yards total.
