You guys homered it up this off-season for the Hokies for no reason. That was a 7-6 team last year that didn't make anything resembling the moves that Miami made this off-season. As for the idiot buddy who doesn't "trust" Mario Cristobal, again that's failing to accept that Miami made off-season moves to become a major player here going into year three under Cristobal-and that all started December 2021 when the University of Miami, for the first time ever, dropped REAL money into its football program. For 15 years under liberal president Donna Shalala it was a kill-what-you-eat approach to athletics, which was why Miami left the Big East for ACC television dollars and Nike for adidas, when adidas was willing to pay more-as THAT is what funded football for years, hence the sub-par coaches for years as well. Cristobal was not on the $80M hire-he was only coming home if the program was willing to spend big and to give him a blank checkbook for recruiting and the portal-and they did, as U-Health profited $400,000,000 in 2020 and some of that money was allocated for football (as well as some big billionaires getting on board.) Fans put way too much on "coaching". Cristobal is the CEO of this program; the master recruiter and motivator-while it's on Dawson and Guidry to run the offense and defense. Last year didn't fall apart because Cristobal choked. Great, he should've taken the knee against Georgia Tech-but it was the three horrendous interceptions by Tyler Van Dyke that even had Miami in that position. TVD started last year's 4-0 run with 11 touchdowns and one interception. Over the next five games he played, he had five touchdowns, 11 interceptions and the Hurricanes lost four of those five games (Williams started against Clemson and FSU; TVD threw game-ending pick in Tally.) Cam Ward with a nasty o-line, d-line, a stable of running backs, some animals at receiver and tight end ... the only "weakness" right now is an elite secondary ... but more than enough here to roll heads this regular season, to beat Clemson in the ACC title game, to get a first round bye and then it's three big games where anything can happen-where it all depends on who they wind up having to face.
