Okay funny story time: I got to know one piece of rock when I applied for my MD. The professor is japanese and wore this sick pair of denim. So denimhead i am on my way out i asked him about the denim....it ended in a one hour show of his denim, all the detail and shops he likes to go to. Including one piece of rock and another good one called Boncura. Needless to say i got the position.
GODSPEED! The Godspeed 950-X Straight Denim are hands down the BEST jeans I've ever owned. Now to convince everyone a higher rise, and a wider leg is the future! (and the past.., and the present...)
I was skeptical at first but tbh you delivered as usual I'd never heard of any of them, which is one of the reasons I love your channel. They look awesome and I'll defo' keep them in mind the next time I want to buy some denim. Good to see your keeping things fresh Matt. All the best as usual, Jason.
I was living in EU when I started into the denim world but went back CN last year. Denim heads here are heavily into Japanese denim brands and to be fair it’s easier to get a touch. So OPOR has been quite a hit topics among the community. Famous as well as pricy. I knew Cottle last year since my favorite select shop (which started off as a hardcore denim style) introduced some of Cottle products, but those are not denim but something combining a very bohemian style and the full-of-heritage and textured fabrics. The fabrics are amazing tho. I feel like their taste fits me well (Thank you for that indeed!) I did feel MSP has a bit SDA when watching the video cause they always have some fun and fresh ideas in the history-choked heritage world, and I personally love SDA the most out of the Osaka5. But I am quite a fan of another of their side brands(that’s why I was thinking, nah, it could not be SDA) Orgueil, which is styled more into 1900s european heritage. All that said, as I finally realized my build and taste doesn’t 100% fit in a “typical denim head look”( not sure what that really is, but you know what I meant ), I also look a lot at indigo brands like 45R. They got pretty decent (also pricier) jeans too. I’d like to introduce a Chinese one, but it’s more a heritage style design brand than a denim brand, motiv mfg. I like their original denim jeans tho. Their boss is also the owner of the select shop I mentioned. What else? I thought of Kuro for a while….
Matt I think I speak for at least a few of us when I say that I would enjoy your videos the same amount, if not more, even if they were 10-15 minutes longer. Obviously don’t force it but I love hearing about the details and how much you know. I’d sit for an hour and listen. Just my thoughts. Thanks
😂 I hear such different opinions about the length…. No jokes please 😂 when I do a long one there’s an avalanche of complaints but then kind folks like you want a bit more. There is the outside plan for more killing form stuff on a more regular basis. Just need to find another 3 days in the week.
I came across maru a few years ago as a sda fan. Have been eyeing that type ii for some time reminds me of the Kapital boro type I but toned down. Have too many denim jackets anyway but the struggle with my wallet is real. Keep up the awesome channel I always enjoy your opinions. Edit: repetitive
Great review as always! Have you checked out wingman denim? They are an Indonesian brand. The quality looks excellent, especially for the price. No videos in English so far. Would love to see a review.
I can't say I'm much of a fan of the patchwork look, maybe I haven't graduated to that level yet. However, I have (due to watching your videos and recommendations) purchased my first denim jacket since about 1989. I wen't with the Nudie Jeans Conny Dry. I really like the front placket and slanted breast pockets, but I'm not 100% sold on the arcuate signature across the whole back shoulder though. Kind of an impulse buy I suppose, but it's still summer, so I haven't had a chance to break it in. Would you consider it more of a Type 2?
I’d say the Conny is more of a type 3. You could always unpick the stitching if it really bugs you. You’ll see a little damage but not a lot of imagine if you’re careful.
I have a pair of sugar cane remakes of the 46, 501's...The mains selling point is the quite shoddy constriction and loose threads! Really super slubby...

In the history of jeans and denim, baggy garments outperform skinny ones by much longer. The normal thing in jeans is that they are comfortable and wide. Look at photographs from the early 1900s to the late 1990s. Typically, it's a baggy garment.
@@hellboy7424 the men’s pants have to be comfortable, especially in the crotch area... I’d advice the skinny fit guys to try the men’s jeans , if they want to have healthy kids one day though..😂
@@TheTarkvemada I believe that today everything you like is worth it...if feels good and is pleasant to wear. Whoever wants to wear it tight, fine. If you want to take it baggy, fine too. I always found it slightly annoying, but also funny how there's Pure Blue Japan, Japan Blue, and Blue Blue Japan. I have a Japan Blue Flannel.

Maybe not as obscure, but I really like Graph Zero. They're always doing interesting stuff.
Someone else mentioned them here as well but I honestly agree with them, Graph Zero tends to fly under a lot of people's radars.
They do some beautiful fabrics. Never seen a piece in person tho.
