@@heynow1988 he is extremely territorial of his family & home. He will not allow anyone in that he doesn’t know and becomes rabid. Meeting them off property out of his territory is a better idea …again, will take more meetings to have him be comfortable but he will be less territorial off property but still protective of his owners. They are very independent dogs with strong instincts to guard without owners telling them to. Once they think there is a threat, it is difficult to tell them otherwise which is why you need to spend a lot of time training…and training is not the same for them as with other breeds. @@heynow1988 with other family that don’t live in the home, he has met them numerous times and accepts them when they come to visit..being wary at first depending on who it is and how often he sees them. @@heynow1988 we have an in home vet that comes over a few times a year who is very brave because yogi wants to attack him every time. He becomes rabid and focused on removing the threat from his territory. He can sense the fear as well which doesn’t help. He needs to be muzzled and he will lay down when I tell him to after the initial lunge and growling ..but will stare and growl and snarl and if he comes close he goes right back to rabid mode..needs to be sedated everytime in order to be examined by the vet. A lot of owners of this breed keep their dogs from vets and groomers because of this. We do our own grooming. Also, most vets and groomers do not know the breed, and if they have heard of them..or learn about them..they do not accept them and won’t work with them because of fear and liability reasons. The bear is like...I mean, that dog is like "Look, I can either rip your head off your neck, or we can play. I'm fine with either one, so it's your pick".
I’d shit myself after that third bark. But hopefully I can find a good breeder when I get older and I’m going to pick the fiercest puppy and raise it properly. Do you have your bear on a raw diet food plan?
look into gdv, and crows feet before you chose your pup, especially crows feet, you don't want a €10,000 bill for each hip to be replaced or fixed, you'll see it a mile away, both back legs cross each other when they walk,I always go for the pup that's sat back watching assessing the situation.
@@beccaleabs4528 You hit the nail on the head and I agree 100%. The main thing I’m focused on are the joints and movement of the puppies. I’m looking at central Asian shepherds as well.
Had one. Was really cute and playful but very hyperactive at night. Very tricky dog. Any owner has to have some kind of stamina coz when they’re in the mode of playing, they could literally be on top of you😂.
