- I did take fresh water for her which she was offered frequently after running. I took Fairy to Harlech beach for her first time on a beach and first time off the lead! I was worried incase she disappeared and didn’t come back but she was amazingly well behaved and came back to me every time. The beach was very secure with a fence behind the sand dunes and a metal gate out to the car park and road.

Thanks for all your lovely comments. If you enjoyed this video why not watch her other beach video “Back by popular demand…Fairy the Greyhound runs 40mph on Cornish beaches” available to view on her channel page. Thank you to all who have liked and subscribed we really appreciate it. I am happy that Fairy is bringing pleasure to so many people ❤
My middle daughter and her husband have been taking in ex Greyhound racers for about 20 years, but I think that this is the last batch of dogs for them as they want to start traveling around.
Please have alook on line at GAP Victoria or GRV and you can see the effort that is being made to find homes for the pups who can’t run as fast as someone would of liked or Finishing or Finished there Racing Carers ! You can also look under greyhound rescue for other re homing outlets we have but please look at GAP VICTORIA ! ❤️

She is wonderful, love from 🇦🇺

How beautiful to see an ex racing dog just enjoying life for life's sake, and using her incredible gift of speed on her own terms . You are so lucky to have a gorgeous greyhound. And shes lucky to have you.
Sickly sweet 🤮
@@Michael020 well that was a waste of energy and time, wasn't it
...you seem to know what your dog loves too ...off leash is a huge trust issue as dogs love to run ...
@@Michael020neither sickly or sweet. It's about an ex racing Greyhound running full speed on a beach. I fail to see what was sickly or Sweet about any of this. But then, there are Trolls everywhere. 😡🤮
@@itstuff4744 Sorry, I couldn't translate your French comment. 🥴
There is nothing on this planet as pure as a dog running flat out for no other reason than their expression of joy. 😊
@@iridium8341 She was indeed squeaking.
Delightful, isn’t it?
Just watching my Dobermans run all out is breathtaking.
couldnt agree more they are awesome dogs.
Great comment
When I was a child we adopted a retired brindle greyhound. We took her to the beach every Sunday for the afternoon, family day at the beach ( not this beautiful ocean just a river, but there was land and she could really get her speed up.) She would run like she was reliving her glory days. Running in circles, just happy to be free. She dug holes, in a shady spot of our back yard, but she would circle them three times then tuck herself the smallest size. That was back in the 1970s. She lived to the age of 17, Thanks for reminding me how awesome friend Sheila (a.k.a Peas & Rice) was.
Back in '93 my wife & I adopted a black greyhound we named Commander! He was only 2 when we got him because he wasn't fast enough for racing!! We had an acre of flat back yard. Every morning he would eat his breakfast go outside & poop & pee and run around the yard like a jack rabbit! He was beautiful to watch! Next door was a women & she had a horse she used to work with in her corral & would run the horse around it & Commander would run with her every time! She had her running partner right next door! He lived to 13 which was pretty good! We still miss him & his best friend Chloe our standard Poodle. She was the brains & he was the dim-witted side kick!!
There's no feeling like the first time you let your greyhound off the lead, and then when they actually come back!
If your dog does not come back its because you are not a good person.
No one can watch this without "feeling" her pure joy and excitement ... You can literally see her thinking about how the sand feels and just how fast she might be able to go on it!
So true! So joyous!
I was smiling the whole time. 😊
Totally, you can see the pauses at the start where she's looking an thinking "I can go so fast here,..."
That's the gift of empathy. It not just about sympathy for people in dire straits, it's about sharing others' feelings good or bad.
Greyhounds have “zoomies” on an entirely different level! Thanks for sharing.
They are bred for racing
Their zoomies are incredible
I loved how she brought forth thousands of years of knowledge... to dig a hole in the sand to find a cooler place to rest in... just as her Egyptian ancestors would have done. Just like my old rescue dog digs a hole in the comforter at night before snuggling in behind my wife's legs. Thanks for giving this lovely girl a new life!
It was heartwarming to see her run free along the beach. She is shaped like a projectile and runs as if shot from of a cannon. Her breed really benefits from large open spaces. I love how her eyes were shining with joy. I bet she had a good sleep when that day ended.
A friend described their Greyhound as a 40 Mile Per Hour Couch Potato ! She has a beautiful life now.....Thank you for giving it to her. ❤
So do true

What a beautiful dog , amazing 🤩
That was so lovely watching her run free and play on the beach. She is so fast.
She’s an amazing dog 😍
They have beautiful natures!
Do you have a collapsible water dish that you can bring with you? I knew she'd get thirsty running so much and seeing her drink so much sea water wasn't good.
@@samsmom1491 I thought about that too. I figured out pretty quickly to always bring water and a bowl with me for my dog on our long beach walks. The first time I took her to the beach I hadn't thought about it in advance. When we got to a river flowing into the ocean, she waded in panting from running and drank like a fiend. I'd heard that fresh water flows on top of salt water when they meet, so I hoped for the best. But on the way home in the car, she produced an enormous sea-water barf. That was the last time I took her to the beach without drinking water in my daypack.
So much pure JOY! Fairy is gorgeous and clearly luxuriating in her post retirement life with you. 💕🐾💕
Greyhounds don't get enough credit. They are truly one of mother natures most incredible species. Absolute units.
This video could replace any anti-anxiety meds - it’s so beautiful and relaxing to watch. Absolute joy and freedom - God bless Fairy and her sweet family for giving her this gift of a whole new life.
I bet she was running faster than any of her times in her racing career. She looks so happy to be free to live the life she deserves😊
Fairy's footprints in the sand when she's at full stride must be impressive!
Yea that would be amazing to see - “why are these footprints so far apart Daddy?”
A fully-fit greyhound sprinting in a straight line can reach speeds of over 40mph.
@@TheRealPureBlood incredible!
When I was 18 I had a red Irish setter named Koosh. I often took him to a beach near Adelaide. One time he got so excited that he flew out the car window before I could park it and he was gone. Down the beach chasing seagulls, so intent that he ignored me even though he was the best trained dog I have ever had. I walked, jogged down that beach for about three kilometres to catch him. There he was trotting back to me through a crowed of families with a seagull in his mouth. the bird was screaming his tail was wagging and he came straight to me and sat at my side as trained. I asked him to give and he dropped the seagull at my feet. It shook itself and just flew away, he was so happy that he had finally got one and I was happy to put him into my car and go home.
Dogs love the ocean.
Our family always vacationed in Gloucester Massachusetts...always brought our Collie with us... he was, after all..part of the family.
60 years ago.. he was fading.. arthritis, poor vision..general old age.
August 1964.. on our way to the coast..he was snoozing in the car. About 3 miles from the shore his head popped up..his nose wiggling like a metronome..eyes wide open and bright..tail wagging furiously.
At the shore we opened the car door and he JUMPED out and RAN.. along the beach, to the water ,barking with joy...he felt like a puppy again, rejuvenated by the ocean and breezes.
A few months later, back home, he passed on after one last summer.
Time and lives pass away.
The love and memories last... even after 60 years.
Good Dog..good memories of "Kimmy"
One of the happiest (maybe the most) greyhounds I've seen. She is so clearly loved, well cared for, and happy. The bouncing when she first got there. 🤣😂
He’s just digging the heck out of that beach!
What a sweetheart she is and you for just letting her be herself and off leash. She is soooo
happy.
Dear god, heart-stopping moments, I've been there, got the- T-shirt, nothing more rewarding than seeing a dog released for the first time- coming back !!!
A great dog
What an exhilarating feeling she has for such an expanse of a place to run free. Beautiful greyhound, beach, no crowds. Perfect!
SEEING THE FREEDOM YOU HAVE GIVEN HER BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES. WHAT A JOY TO HAVE FOUND THIS VIDEO.
My arthritic old golden did this on a Southern California beach and he was in heaven. So heartwarming to see his pure joy.
Watching her run free was amazing and I got goosebumps. A very majestic girl.
The SHEER JOY she had exploring the beach. Running free because she wanted to not because she had to. Loved seeing her love it ! ❤
Will make me smile ALL day. Thank you.
Her smile after running, and especially after digging her nest, was perfect! She so deserves this freedom to enjoy life. ❤
We took my friend's greyhound to the beach at Bamburgh years ago. She was so excited she took off and was out of sight in a few seconds. Her first time there, we didn't know if she'd return. But she did. Always bring water for your dog, by the way.
I totally agree on the water aspect. I always have to bring water for my dog while at the ocean beaches. He will drink salt water otherwise. And ocean water will make them sick if they have too much. And tbh, I was starting to get worried about this fella with the amount she drank.
Need to keep them filled with water to the point they won't look at the salt water other than to splash around in. The collapsible bowls along with a bottle works wonders.
@@911axe Rule of thumb: If you need to carry a water bottle for yourself, your dog needs one, too.
I did have her dog water bottle with me and she was offered water regularly 👍

I had a Doberman that I used to allow to run free on my nearby beach. It's a mile and a half long. She used to run it full tilt and be back to me before I'd covered the first 100 yards. It's fantastic to observe the speed and power if these dogs running and although my Doberman wasn't anywhere near as fast as a greyhound, she could certainly cover some distance in a hurry. Great experience for both if us. But like you said, safe environment and trust in the dog to come back.
My ex had such a dog and she let him out on a bicycle. 30 miles per hour to the next village, drink a bit, and then 30 miles an hour back. She did not have to spend one bit of energy. The dog did all the work. In total I think it must have been 10 miles of running for the dog. He loved it.
She loved this! What a beautiful beach. It's so funny when they taste salt water for the first time. So much water and not a drop to drink. Did you bring fresh water with you? She must have been thirsty after all that running. I noticed she kept trying to drink the salt water.
I was wondering the same thing.
I was thinking the same thing after running a marathon fresh water is crucial
Same!!
I wondered same-i bet she brought some with her
It’s obvious the dog is very thirsty after all that running. Didn’t think to bring her water?
I teared up on this one. The love for that dog is obvious. She was set free to explore her nature. Wonderful video.
I teared up too. So moving.
Glad she has a Mom like you. Fantastic to see her joyful running and playing.
It's beautiful seeing them run free and just be dogs. You see the dog they've always meant to be.
which hardly makes up for all the times they are prisoners of their master's selfishness, running little and rarely...
You only see true joy like this in dogs and babies. I was smiling ear to ear watching her. Best. Day. Ever!
Smiling ear to ear? Like you were feeling joy?
Me too!
@@lovemesomeslippers "ear to ear smile" that's a creepy smile
And Down’s syndrome persons!❤❤❤

Man, what joy watching this. An x racer, in total FREEDOM!!! wow. Even the digging, an laying in the hole, splashing in the water, running over and over again, the way God made her to run. This was so heart warming I could hardly stand it. Then wrapped warmly, smelling good food, and having a great meal. God bless you for all you've done for this pup!!!!! WELL DONE, WELL DONE.
Thank You kind soul for the joy you have given this beautiful being and to all of us.
She’s very classy looking. Needs a pearl necklace with lots of strands!! What a sweet girl!! Fast as all HELL! ❤
Also, I love when dogs get rescued and adopted by someone like you, giving them a wonderful life!
Amen my friend
Makes me happy to watch her run. Relieved to know she’ s so solid on recalls.
We have a rescue greyhoind named Bonnie. We take her to our local beach and she loves being able to run free. There is nothing as joyous as watching a Greyhound in full flight.
10 mins of that and shes knackered and wants to sleep for 6 hours 😄
I had a mongrel with greyhound characteristics. He could run for 3 hours a day in our woods and wasn't winded. If he didn't get his long run, he literally shook on our couch which he claimed as his drop and flop. What a dog. Those large lungs and long legs so much remind me of Bobo.
Invigorating to see dogs running free by the sea. Wonderful
I don't think that there is anything as beautiful as a greyhound running free and at her own pace on a lovely stretch of beach makes my heart melt every time😁😁😁
Absolute magic! Thank you for letting me watch Fairy doing her thing!
Heartwarming to see a greyhound having so much fun. Bless you, for making it happen!
When I take my whippets to the beach for a romp, they snooze for a week! It doesn’t take much to wear out a sprinter! So wonderful for her to be able to play and dig on her own terms!❤
…Her color, clean teeth, and her amazing eyes, she is just gorgeous running her happy big laps around the beach. I love when she dug her hole to lie in. Thank you for filming your happy and loved dog. 💙 🐕💙🐾
I love that you give her that total, secure freedom. I could almost feel her excitement.😊
Such a joy to see her run! I bet she slept well that night! 🤣
She's so sweet! People often asked me how I managed to teach my grey boy such good recall and truth is I didn't. He just loves being close to his pack, his retriever brother and people. We rescued him as a puppy and he still likes running in very similar circles, I think it's because they've such a long stride they need a big curve to change direction at top speed.
The one dog I ever had - a mongrel - we once took with us to the Ayrshire beach at Culzean. He met a red setter there and they just had the time of their lives, racing round and round. At one point our dog leapt over a low wall, not realising there was a 3 metre drop on the other side to a burn. He emerged unscathed. Such a day!
Nothing more beautiful than seeing a greyhound running full flight on a beautiful beach like this! I don't have anywhere to take my greyhounds to run other than a dog park, which I don't like as they're usually crowded with other dogs and many who misbehave and start fights. Thank you for posting this lovely video. Your gorgeous dog was having the time of her life!!!
Watching this i couldn't stop smiling. Love greyhounds.
This is timeless. She is a beautiful dog with beautiful love from her family. This is how dogs should be. Happy and loved.Thank you.
Nothing makes me smile quite as much as watching a greyhound on a first visit to a huge sandy beach where they can run to their heart's content. Their sheer joy is almost tangible. When we let our grey off for the first time on a beach in Lincolnshire he was beside himself with excitement and we worried whether he'd come back but he just ran round in huge circles, splashing through the water - wonderful memories! Thank you for posting.
OH my goodness, this is REALLY spectacular. Your baby is a dancing marvel and so happy that you shared this terrific and joyful time. Those circles, that is the orbit she maintains to keep you in her sights.
Pure joy! What a beauty....her color and those eyes! Thank you so much for sharing your Fairy's beach adventure. Love watching a greyhound run free!! ♥
What a beautiful looking dog!! Fast as lightning, all power and muscles, i could watch her all day! Thanks!!
I used to volunteer at a shelter walking the dogs. The lurchers and greyhounds were the sweetest, most affectionate guys and girls but I couldn't let them off the lead. It's very satisfying seeing one being able to run free.
How wonderful to watch this precious girl having THE best time -- Greyhounds are great !!💓
She looks like she is finally having a awesome day doing what she was bred for, but no stress as to meet any expectations from anyone.
We have three ex-racers. It is said to never let them off leash in the city and urban areas as they don't know what to do with the freedom and may just take off and get lost. It is reassuring to see you and your friend sharing freedom together at the beach. Congratulations and may you have many years of such enjoyment. Beautiful beach, by the way!
Oh how I love this! She’s absolutely gorgeous and her excitement just keeps building. Takes me back 40 years remembering our rescued Greyhound and how she loved to run flat out. She also loved all the schoolchildren when we’d walk our daughter home from school. Wonderful dogs!
She runs like a cheetah. She was made for it! She’ll always come back. Let her let loose sometimes! It brings me joy to watch this. Thanks for sharing!❤
She makes the beach look very small indeed. What a wonderful day for her and hope you both have many more.
This made me smile. Her happy jumps brought tears to my eyes. So lovely to see her having fun.
You can see the joy in every single step.
She looks SO happy and excited. !!! ❤❤😊 Such a pleasure to see this !!🎉
How wonderful it was to see Fairy enjoying the beach! Her true happiness was contagious!❤
Back in the 1980's,my wife and I adopted a Greyhound from Sarasota kennel club. She was Two years old, lived to be 15.Best dog of ,my life.
That is a very good age for a Greyhound, you did well!
If a dog feels loved, cared for, and able to do their "job," they'll always come back. Fairy was bred to run, so running is her job. Great to see you letting her "do her thing." She looks happy. Good job!
Greyhound doing what they like to do the most. Running like the wind and loving it.
I'm loving seeing the pup having such a good time. Free to run and dig, than a warm coat and a slap up breakfast for all concerned.
She’s MAGNIFICENT!
She's going to come back. I would guess se knows two precious things: running and the room to run, and security of a pack and a good leader to return to who lets her run. I can't think she'd give up either once she had them, she seems too smart. It is good in the heart to see her take off. Breathtaking.
A couple of thoughts after having watched this: at the same time, greyhounds are the high-performance sports cars _and_ the sleek super models of the canine world. They're such beautiful creatures. Then, watching Fairy running flat-out there on Harlech beach may be the best demonstration I've ever seen of the concept of "joie de vivre". Thank you for sharing!
I love watching a big dog run! Love her color and eyes! I never doubted she would come back! I think she circled to stay near you, not her racing career.
Look at her strutting around the beach like shes the fastest dog there. oh wait... she is!! sooooooo cute. I love when she dug a hole and sat in it. love dogs.
She's living her best life now.....free to run and play.....enjoy every moment with her ❤❤
So fun to watch. The next time you go to that beach be sure to bring a gallon of fresh water and a bowl.
This brought so much joy to me seeing that beautiful animal just running & being a dog. She seemed so happy. Beautiful to watch!!!
So many misguided dog parents try to train just being a dog out of their dog(s), which I think is a form of animal cruelty. This is a whole video of just letting a dog be her beautiful self and I salute you for it!
Beautiful dog!!! I can’t stop smiling❤️
awe she dug herself a bed to lay on to cool down. she is absolutely beautiful
What an amazing day for her, sooo glad you have such a great video on YT you can come back to time and time again.
You are such a good puppy Mom, you can just see how she loves you. She will come back to her Mom. Rescues always know who their people are! Look at her run! Thank you for giving her a new special life. This is so good for her to run like the wind ❤❤❤❤
PS. She LOVES the beach!!
Did you bring water for her?
That is one happy, happy excited little girl. I am so pleased to have shared that moment with you and her. She looked like she couldn’t believe how lucky she was! She is so beautiful as well
The joy on that dogs face spilled out of my screen uplifting my day.Brilliant
Makes me cry to see Fairy so happy.Long time ago a young man had a female greyhound training her for the track,I admired this little dog told him if she failed PLEASE notifier me as I wanted her as a companion dog, because she and I got on very well.............he never did he had her put down.....I cried when I heard about it, poor little grey may she run free in heaven.
She is lucky to have you and you are lucky to have her. To see Fairy running WFO across the beach was absolutely beautiful, poetry in motion.
Oh my goodness, that face! ❤ I love her face when she's holding her ears way back and those big round eyes. So darn cute!
Absolutely stunning. That dog was made for that beach.
A wonderful sight! Running free, enjoying the wind, the sea, the smells, digging, splashing loving life to the full❤
Wow!!!! She is absolutely having a ball. Very cute. She sure figured out how to get cooled down quickly by digging a hole.
Beautiful beautiful creature and so lucky and happy. Thank you!
I love how in the beginning of the video you can tell that she wants nothing more than to just open up and run as fast as she can, but she is willing to forgo that, so that she isn’t yanking the leash and pulling on you.
Thank you so much for sharing… I am a 24 hour caregiver and watching that beautiful dog run free was so uplifting. Her excitement and freedom gave me just a few moments of freedom myself. I can’t put into words the hope for my own freedom it inspired, thank you.
I do hope you brought water along for her to drink, all that running she will need fresh water…
❤️
She is not only gorgeous but equally adorable. Very lucky to have you as parents.
I remember the combined thrill and absolute terror of watching my two Borzois running the first time I let them loose in my horse pasture. I relived that watching Fairy fly. I was pretty sure the fencing was secure enough to keep my dogs in, but seeing how fast they were, I knew if they got out, they could be gone miles away in minutes. But gods, sight hounds are beautiful when they run! Fairy had such a great time. She's such a happy dog. 💙
It reminds me of my hound’s first trip to the beach in Cornwall. He loved it and we have some great pictures from the day. He’s 12 now and has dementia so won’t be going to the beach again. When I see him dreaming, I like to think that he’s reliving some of our lovely days together like that.
😻What a gorgeous dog, gorgeous location, and joyful video. And what a blast Fairy is having! She clearly doesn't want to run away from you--she just wants to R-U-N!!! I believe all dogs run in circles when they're exuberant--I think it's referred to as a victory lap in the dog training world. So wonderful to see her doing it! I have a rescued ex-hunter galgo and I sure know that "will they come back?" feeling every time I let him off the leash here in Rabbitland🙈Thanks for sharing the dog joy! xo
Got the adrenaline going, the natural running instincts popping. Free.
That dog was cruising fast! Gone with a blink of an eye...only to return even faster!
It is SO great to see her! Thanks!
Maybe a bowl of water for her to drink would be a good idea for a walk like that (there are portable bowls, I do not know the English word sorry).
But seeing her run free is such a joy! :)
