Huge thanks goes out to Georgios over at #equippr for getting a hold on that RTX 3090 for my testing! #NotSponsored 🤗
Do you agree with me? Would you get yourselves an RTX 3090? 🤔
Money well spent or simply waste of money? 😮
We don't have all the info yet, but could the RTX 3080 Ti or RX 6900 XT end up being the "wiser" high-end choice? 😅

Scarcitiy for rtx3080 + 3090 is still ridciulous. If I could actually buy a 3090, I probably would - would feel better than getting a 1300 euro ebay 3080 tbh. #stuckinthequeue

When majority of owners paid $1200+ for 2080 TIs and 3080s, $1500 for a 3090 through say Best Buy msrp, I feel like I got myself a sweet deal. I had 3080, and would not go back considering I primarily game at 4K now with a LG c9 hdmi 2.1 enabled display. My hopes would be that I can get $1200+ for it when say next gen 3090 super/it or just 4090 releases. And then buy at msrp next year. Consider the new 3080 ti would start at 999 and variants would surpass $1200 again this will help to retain value of 3090 over an extended period. Now I have the founders edition, if they say release a Kingpin or some variant of a 3080 to that surpasses the 3090 then maybe I’ll consider selling my 3090 to get more power with slightly less vram... maybe.

With the upcoming 3080Ti (same number of CUDA cores, CU's etc. as with the 3090 but with 4GB less VRAM) and basically having the same performance of a 3090 @ just $500 less money, this is the last time I get a so called "high-end" gaming GPU from team green. Arguably buying annually the 80 series could potentially be the better buy. But if stock is like this for the coming years, then getting top of the line every 2-3 years is a better option. Considering the 2080 ti was selling around this price makes it a no brained decision to buy. That’s where my head was at. I had a 2070 super and really wished I got the 2080 ti, but waited for the next best thing instead of buying a product on its way out. The 3080 ti/super if it comes out could be a better option but we’re getting near 6 months quick without release date and then whenever it releases we’ll just start hearing more and more about 4000 series and it’s not really to hold off buyers but it’s to maintain actual stock investment numbers or increase them with good news. People invest on good news and NVIDIA keeps the good news coming. Throws off buyers, but keeps investors happy.

@@BikeIsLife4EverGG That was my reason yes. I upgraded PC to remoe CPU bottleneck. Then the 2080S was my next issue. Can't get hold of 3080's so while I accept that for the price: performance ratio it makes no sense, vaporware 3080's are no help either. When stock of 3090's popped up on Stockinformer website last night, I clicked "buy" because I could!
I'll probably play at mining to, just because it won't always be gaming. When the eBay scalper price for a 3080 is not that far off a 3090, the decision was made and I'll have it tomorrow.

Nvidia bring out new lines every 2 years so the 3090 will only be top for 2 years is it worth the cost? i agree the 3080ti will be the best choice especially if you run 4k and ray tracing. the 3070 is already hitting its max memory limit in some games running 4k so its fair to say it will struggle with future games as they get more detailed and complex. If you are a 1080p or 1440p gamer get the 360ti or 3070. Having Dlss will give you a nice boost. AMD has made huge performance gains but lacks dlss so will always lag behind with ray tracing enabled and even more so in 4k. if ray tracing doesnt bother you or 4k. Buy AMD and get max fps over alot of titles with the 6800xt. I think without dlss the 6900xt is also not that viable.

@@sunttu333ok I supposed in europe everything is expensive. You guys are having double digit inflation and heating bills are through the roof. Prices for GPUs in Australia are not cheap too. But I got it at such a good price and brand new, sealed, and unopened box too. Before that I was using an EVGA GTX 1070. So its a massive upgrade for me. Plan to use this for another 6 to 9 years. And I'm keeping my GTX 1070 too. Like u I expect the 40 series to be terribly expensive and not worth it. Once the 30 series run out it'll be high price again.

Yes, coil noise , bad cooler design , poor performance and who knows what else... For 1150 euros that i bought this card, none of the matters. For unreal engine and 3d in general, that thing is a beast.

  • @balazscsanyi3665

I have the same card. I bough brand new without warranty. It was much cheaper like with that. First impression was named coil whine. It's a very diturbing electrical noise. In this such a highest level it's very absurd. Before I bought this shit I had a Zotac Trinity RTX 3080 Ti. There were no any problem with that. I tought 3090 have an impressive perfomance difference, but I cant feel it. And this card always freez during games like BF 2042, COD, PUGB...usually online games.

Mine will go no higher then 385w's when it spikes, but it will not go higher then 400w's I have had my 3090 TUF GAMING OC since May its overclocked at that. You can get great performance from it, but you are going to see it performance on the same level as its bigger brother the ROG Strix. I'd say you should go for a Strix if you want to really push overclocking... but make sure you have a good PSU 👍. I have a 1000w PSU and it handles overclocking well.

I mean the tuf is one of the worst 3090/3090ti vairnats due to its cooling lol. Get a newer evga now with rhe fixed pcb, or the evga 3090ti or Get the suprim x as those are the 2 best air cards. Even the asus 3090 strix isn't as good when pushed to its max. It can get above 90c! When at full load that is. But it is a beast the strix 3090. Also of course the hybrid strix 3090ti is a monster lol. But the evga 3090ti is the best air cooled ti variant

If you have a 3070 or 3080 and buy a 3090 as an upgrade, you dont deserve to own a computer. plain and simple.
On the other hand if you own a 1070-Ti - and upgrade to a 3090, then it becomes beneficial, if you have the spare money to do so..
