Hey Hurm, glad you liked this part of the wild journey across Blood Mountain 😊 You were pretty close with the movie association though. Fun fact, the entire band had guest appearances twice in Game of Thrones ! Once as wildlings then as wights marching in the army of the undead! They also made a song White Walkers (which I don’t actually think is among their best). Funny thing is when you see Brent Hinds, the rough and scraggly but brilliant guitarist, he fits right into the cast!😆
The whole album Blood Mountain Is a great Album and i love it too. The Last Baron is the closing to Crack The Skye and that's one of their most popular songs.
So many of their albums and songs tell stories Leviathan is just the book Moby Dick as a metal album Blood Mountain is the story of a man tasked to return a crystal skull to Blood Mountain, and the strange shit that happens to him on his journey Crack the Skye is about a parapalegic kid who astral projects and gets lost and summoned by Rasputin into Czarist Russia, and Rasputin chooses to sacrifice himself to help the kid get home, even fighting Satan along the way. The song The Hunter is about the lead guitarist brothers death while out hunting. The Sparrow is a tribute to someone they worked with who passed away Emperor of Sand is an allegory for someone fighting cancer, the protagonist is cursed and cast out, and goes on a long journey before ultimately dying (the end of Jaguar God) The album Hushed and Grim is about the death of their long time manager, along with themes of Brann Dailors divorce.
Do check out the music video... 🔥🔥👍👍This single did very well for Mastodon from the 'Blood mountain' album in 2006, and their first album on a major label (Reprise/ Warner) and it charted at #32 in the US.
Absolutely love this song! Some years ago went to Norwegian Wood because if Gojira. But Masotodon blew me away! Incredible experience MASODON live , recorded can't compare. Davin Towsend Projest same, record just can't capture the electronic intensity of live performance
Mastodon is so fuckin good, best discography in metal the last 2 decades, so many unique sounds on their albums that nobody else sounds like as well, this whole album blood mountain is glorious and there is nothing else like it out there. Always good to see them get some love. Highly highly recommend checking out the song “roots remain” from them sometime, same goes for to a live version of them playing their song mother puncher. Anyway Good stuff man
That's Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age on backing vocals during the chorus.
