      Hopefully, as the thousands of dollars I spent in 2022 has been sitting there doing nothing for 18months now...

      Yes. I am 16 and have invested around 650 dollars in LEGO. I hope to expand as time goes on.

    This is the best video that I believe you have done. It is full of wisdom in a concise, easy to understand format. Well done! I hope to one day be able to impart wisdom of my journey on my channel like you do here! Well done! Thank you for being such a valued influencer in the Lego space.

    I think due to the economy most people are much more money conscious and tend to buy more smaller sets compared to the past. So its likely wise to keep them in the portfolio

    The ONE thing that absolutely no one talks about is that, at least in US, you are both the employer and the employee so enjoy paying an extra 7.5% in taxes.

    How do you want to invest those bigger profits if not in new LEGO sets?😊

  • @m_afol
    @m_afol 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Those are great examples how markets may differ when it comes to the same set. Batmobile in Poland (Europe) is one of the worst investments. People sell it under MSRP to get rid of it 😂 And clone trooper command station is only good investment - now its about 50% ROI.

    Got quite a few buzz lightyears from Lego while on clearance. That was a great call.

    that friends house set was also a big miss for me. I didnt buy it and now after the dead of perry this set is like +100 % here and growing :/ RIP

  • @t.yop9

    Buying is easy. You can get deals because Lego has made a ton of products and they've oversaturated the market. Compare the # of sets released in 2023 vs 2017. It's a dramatic increase. With all the people into Lego 'investing' now and the sheer amount of product in the market, it's going to be a lot harder to sell than in the past. If you pick the right sets, you can make a profit for sure, but the majority of sets are not going to be selling for much over MSRP even a couple of years into retirement.

    • @BrickBucks
      @BrickBucks  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thats not my experience at all. I've been hearing this kind of comment since I started LEGO investing, and prices continue to go up. If you learn how to buy the sets at a good price, selling isn't hard

    Happy New Years! Now time to start counting down until Jan 31st. My best year on Amz so far as well. Unfortunately, along with more sales comes more returns which seems more prevalent this season compared to years past.

    Its interesting how you label 76188 as a set you missed out on.. I currently have 14 which I bought for around MSRP and I'm honestly struggling to sell them at 45ish USD on Bricklink/locally. I guess my issue is that I'm in the EU and not selling on Amazon (yet)

    • @Clockles87
      @Clockles87 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wish you were in the USA. They're going for $65 on Amazon ($52 after fees). If you were stateside I would've love to grab them from you 😅

    • @valami42
      @valami42 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the issue is that you bought them around MSRP. I don't think that is ever a good decision, however, I also live in Europe (Hungary) and that set is selling at around 55 USD.

    • @vincentcbn380
      @vincentcbn380 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes same reflection with the 76188, I bought 5 of them and they are not selling super well here in France, still around 35/40€. The Batwing 76161 is not doing great as well. My thought is that the demand for Lego Batman here in Europe is lower than in the US. Or maybe it's just for this set...

    In how many different sets (so not the themes or the value, say on set number base) have you invested in last year(s) and what is the difference compared to your early days? There so many nice sets with quite many sets going retiring every year, also some missers obviously. If I look into my sheets for 2024 I can mark 50 sets easy of which I am enthustiastic. I will run this down obviously. But I was just curious. I know some focus on 10 sets and dive all in. Some who buy 2 from almost every set retiring. haha 😅 Thanks for your work and joyful videos

    • @BrickBucks
      @BrickBucks  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I tend to aim for 15-20 sets approximately. Some years it has been higher, but this has become my target and typically my hit list is around that number. If I buy more than that it is either due to a local deal (buying someone's inventory) or great buying opportunities that came up. Thanks for the support!

    LEGO investors could ONLY be wrong about the Manchester United set. If we all invested in it, we would be wrong again. Paradox?
