Ikr like all my teachers see me carrying my cello and say "oh so you play guitar?" LIKE DO PEOPLE LEARN DIFFERENT TYPES OF INTERMENTS AND INSTEAD OF STRINGS IT'S JUST GUITAR????
my friend who plays double bass always comes to orchestra practice ON HIS BIKE. with his bass strapped to his back. it always looks ridiculous but also kind of dangerous since you always get the feeling he's going to fall over at any moment.
My personal cello pet peeves: 1. IS THAT A GUITAR??? 2. One unprofessional music teacher made me play the DOUBLE BASS because ”OH YOU PLAY THE CELLO IT’S PRACTICALLY THE SAME” um, NO? They have different strings??? 3. Getting a melody part in an orchestra or a string group and being like ”guys I have melody here so if you didn’t play the highest notes you can get from a violin so loud thanks?” and nothing improves 4. When there’s a door that’s too short 5. Public transportation is hell 6. One time a drunk guy at a train station came up to me and asked what I played and I responded with cello and he said “I ONCE HAD A CELLO WITH EIGHT STRINGS” and I just, okay time to leave Free feel to add to the list :)
LucariøTH-cams 36 I know people always say to me, ”Oh you play that low violin thing right? The... Uhmmm... Double Bass, ”🤦🏻♀️ I mean they're technically not wrong because I played Double Bass when I was younger but I have an Instagram account with Cello in the literal name🤦🏻♀️
I was carrying my cello from the bus stop to my house and a passerby asked if I was carrying a dead body. *"Dude, have you ever seen a cello before?"* *"Nope."*
YES. i play rental cellos just for school years (so far i've played for a year) so i have to go go my summers without my cello. i grew an emotional attachment to my cello :(
Being in a bus with cello is annoying. Especially if it's full, then it's a nightmare. You can't sit and everyone pushes you because your so big. You get sweaty and your back gets tired. While standing you think "Why in the fucking hell I didn't chose flute".
Oh you cellist have it easy carrying your instrument but us, doublebass, it's another story, I truly hate stairs and violinist that do not move out of the way 😪
Oh man, yes. Don't you wish to have the powers that come with the ant man suit, I mean it would be easier to carry around the bass even intercontinental flights with out worrying about broken or damaged instruments
You’re so right, even at school when I’m carrying my bass and I’m trying to pass between people who are in the way they don’t move. They just stand there and stare at you and then you have to repeat it again “EXCUSE ME”.
Completely agree. I've had a countless amount of people say "That's a nice Cello you have there" or when I describe my instrument they'll say "Why don't you just play the cello?"
Dude I feel you, especially with the end pin slipping and the hair oof. Especially taking to set up compared to a violin/viola that takes like 2 minutes. Smh😤😤
I'm both cello and violin and I prefer the setup with a violin all we have to do is gr it out of our case get our bow get shoulder rest put on instrument and done
So once the band kids at my school went into my orchestra classroom for some reason and I swear one pointed st the biggest bass there and called it a guitar before pointing at me with my cello and saying I held the guitar weird
THIS IS SO ACCURATE, I'M SUBSCRIBING!!! 😂😂😂 *Also I have this problem where I will set up everything and once everything is in place, my sheet music will FALL AND I'LL REACH OUT TO GRAB IT AND I'LL ACCIDENTALLY FELL THE STAND AND AAGAGHAHAHHAHHAH all while holding my cello and bow in hand*
Yes!! The struggle is real. No one moves for cellists. They just don't care. And two way doors, and low ceilings and walkways, and narrow ailes. And then the stage itself...DEATHTRAP! At rehearsals when people try to walk OVER your resting cello. So many, many things. But you love every minute if it. It is truly a labor of love.
Ummm why did you change it this video used to have a bass with it at the stairs when she says “don’t even” so was there a problem with it ( no hate love you)
hahah love u too! i think thats actually from another video by another youtube (??) because we never had a bassist in this video although it would be hilarious if we had that haha thanks for watching! -J
D&J productions I have a question for you, how long have you played the cello because you are really good at it and i found the video that had the bass in it
Then again, you could break your violin if you’re running too fast with it, and then if you smash it into a wall accidentally, then it won’t be too good. But with a *cello* , you won’t bump into anything since you have to be slow when you’re walking with it. But that’s just *my* opinion on why having a cello is better, though. (I’m a cello beginner in 6th grade, if you didn’t know.).
Nah you're weak af fam. Have you ever tried carrying a full sized cello and *cloth* case by handle only in 100 degree weather for miles just to practice at home? You don't know the true struggle m8
Valentín Alanis Actually this is a full sized cello in a hard case that is much heavier than a cloth case. Also we are walking in 10 degree weather here.
For the rocks stop problem, I really recommend the “Blackhole”! It’s small, light, handy, and the most important feature is that, it NEVER slips! Just make sure that the bottom of the stopper is clean.
3:24 Ug. I can relate to that so much because i play the bari sax and it can be a workout just to carry, let alone up the stairs!!! And it certainly doesn't help that i am extremely short (5ft exactly) so when i lift the instrument normally it still smacks the stairs so i have to bend my arm to lift it higher😑
Can everyone please tell me what is the piece played at 00:56 until 01:06 ? I have been looking for the name everywhere and was not able to find yet!! Thank you!!
Where did you get your case😍 I'm looking for one right now and I absolutely love yours! Btw I loved your video and I completely agree with all of these! #celloprobsforlife
There was one time I had to climb up the stairs for a school talent show audition and I carried my cello, pitting all my effort into step by step till I died...
i started cello in 4th grade. i was jealous of the violinists who carried their instruments around so easily. i switched to violin in 5th grade. that was 47 years ago. i never regretted the switch.
I used to have that kind of carbon fiber endpin and it was a living nightmare. It slipped during my junior solo and chamber juries. Now I have the old school iron rod type endpin and I never have any issues. It is a lot heavier, though.
I remember one time at a concert I didn’t have the rubber thing that goes on the end of your end pin and I didn’t have a rockstop so the entire time my cello just kept falling and I think I may have scratched the floor
what is the piece your were playing while your end pin was slipping? bc im also a cello plauer and i would very much like to learn it bc it sounded good... well the first couple notes of it haha
I have a rock stop without a thing that you put the chair in between, I also have a case of fabric (it's really fragile) and it doesn't have a flat ending so have to lay down to let it go. The struggle is real
Aliya Kensler haha yay cello power!! And aw thanks! Yea so Michigan has always been my favorite school and I almost went there for my undergrad but then a turn of events took me to BU instead and I'm loving it here as well! :) -J
i play cello and i have really curly hair so when it gets stuck its is really hard to get it off of my pegs as well as i hate adjusting my end pen so i have someone else do it for me while i sit also i have a big problem with shifting it is just so stressful.
I know right, the pin slipping is so annoying when I practice. Plus my hair gets stuck, but it's so worth it, the sound is just so mesmerizing and the sound is beautiful
I relate to the rockstop(?) Thing of playing an instrument and the adjustment part, I play bassoon and my instrument doesn't have a hook for the neck strap so I use the seat strap. I carry my seat strap around my neck 😂 then when I sit down I have to adjust the strap to each different chair haha. Luckily my bassoon isn't as heavy to carry, just have to carry it carefully so it doesn't come apart. Music is worth it though
For those who keep asking what the piece I am playing is, it is the beginning of the first movement of the Shostakovich Cello Sonata.
And the first song?
Same with me thoo 😂😂
2:03 My ears: DEAD
Thank youuuu
Sorry but what is the piece you played at 3:01
I play cello and bass and when I walk around with a bass on my back while carrying the cello you wouldn’t imagine the looks I get
Trust me ur not alone i do the same thing
Same😭
I play baritone horn which is kind like a smaller tuba and people stare allot too lol
awww i feel for ya
Jesus
showing a cello player to my friend.
"is that a guitar?"
oh boy.... A GUITAR?!
Kaylee Rahman it's ridiculous 😂
OMG TRUE!! I was walking downtown and someone said "DO YOU PLAY THE GUITAR??" ..
Some one in my school said VI-O-LA I stead of VE-O-LA
Ikr like all my teachers see me carrying my cello and say "oh so you play guitar?" LIKE DO PEOPLE LEARN DIFFERENT TYPES OF INTERMENTS AND INSTEAD OF STRINGS IT'S JUST GUITAR????
“Is that a bow instrument, or a violin?”
And once I started plucking my cello on the bus and someone said
“SOMEONE’S PLAYING THEIR GUITAR!!”
There was a girl at my school who thought my cello was a violin... A VIOLIN
Aaliyah Holmes oh my god wow
Aaliyah Holmes im a bassist and i get told the same thing “omg is that a violin?”
one girl thing that my guitar is celllo!😫
one guy thought my cello was a bass
at least they didn't think it was a viola
my friend who plays double bass always comes to orchestra practice ON HIS BIKE. with his bass strapped to his back. it always looks ridiculous but also kind of dangerous since you always get the feeling he's going to fall over at any moment.
😐😐😐😐
Gotta go fast
what a good balance.....
Damn...
Laura B lOl me too I play the bass but I don’t carry it to and from school luckily I feel bad for him
For Cellists without a rockstop the struggle is real.
They slide so much they should make the bottoms more sticky maybe Idk if that would work tho
For some reason I would always end up with no
rockstop or anything for concerts. I would end up so mad
When I was in fourth grade I didn't have one and we had a concert on tile.... That was fun
@@clarebearpostema57 oh damn😭
True 😂
there was one guy at my school who thought that my cello is accordion
Marta Kekez On the otherhand, people always ask me what is in my accordion case. “Is that a suitcase?”
I was in the bus and this one guy thought my cello was a guitar
What the heck? An accordion isn’t even a string instrument!
nicholas lang *Excuse me, do you know what an accordion looks like??*
Not that i know of
My personal cello pet peeves:
1. IS THAT A GUITAR???
2. One unprofessional music teacher made me play the DOUBLE BASS because ”OH YOU PLAY THE CELLO IT’S PRACTICALLY THE SAME” um, NO? They have different strings???
3. Getting a melody part in an orchestra or a string group and being like ”guys I have melody here so if you didn’t play the highest notes you can get from a violin so loud thanks?” and nothing improves
4. When there’s a door that’s too short
5. Public transportation is hell
6. One time a drunk guy at a train station came up to me and asked what I played and I responded with cello and he said “I ONCE HAD A CELLO WITH EIGHT STRINGS” and I just, okay time to leave
Free feel to add to the list :)
I was on the subway and this lady was telling me that I was going to be the next Yo Yo Ma
Also when I have my hard case, people think I’m hiding something in it
When music sheets think
Cello=really low
So its just on the c and g string the entire piece
PjandBolt that's so annoying aicjsmmdmc
LucariøTH-cams 36 I know people always say to me, ”Oh you play that low violin thing right? The... Uhmmm... Double Bass, ”🤦🏻♀️ I mean they're technically not wrong because I played Double Bass when I was younger but I have an Instagram account with Cello in the literal name🤦🏻♀️
You forgot doors that are too small
good one!! -J
Or when you have to get out of a car and there's more cars waiting and judging
nah that's mainly for bassists i constantly knock my scroll on the top of door frames when i'm carrying my bass
+gabriella.s I go by train to my lesson every week and I always have to take the cello of when I walk into the train or I would crash
+TheHalfBloodPrincess you are right but honestly do you think people are not staring at a cellist ?
*violinist laughing in the distance*
Iris Valentim legit me rn
Iris Valentim (me)
Same 😂
I was just about to say that, but add violists too.
😭😭😭😭
I was carrying my cello from the bus stop to my house and a passerby asked if I was carrying a dead body.
*"Dude, have you ever seen a cello before?"*
*"Nope."*
People think my bass is a cello. And sometimes my end pin slips and the pegs stab my head
Jake Cisneros same
Except that I play cello
And sometimes when youre in sitting position you it slips if you lean on it and your fingerboard whacks your face.
rap monster read to me in english yeah, right?
I feel you
But despite all, we love our cellos, no matter how hard it can get!!
YES! Sometimes it can be a little hard to deal with but despite that I love playing!
Yep!
YES. i play rental cellos just for school years (so far i've played for a year) so i have to go go my summers without my cello. i grew an emotional attachment to my cello :(
You haven't struggled till you have to do all of that but as a bass
Earl Alois Trancy exactly
Finally someone understands
Yes! Yes! Thank you! It gets me every time
HECK, HONESTLY THOUGH
Earl Alois Trancy dudeeeee i thought the same thing, i play both cello and bass and those problems are all alot worse with the bass
Being in a bus with cello is annoying. Especially if it's full, then it's a nightmare. You can't sit and everyone pushes you because your so big. You get sweaty and your back gets tired. While standing you think "Why in the fucking hell I didn't chose flute".
Viivo Viivo And then the driver gets mad at you because you have no other form of transportation
Can relate but on Euphonium
What’s worse is a double bass
Me thinking I'm better off just walking 😂😂
Oh you cellist have it easy carrying your instrument but us, doublebass, it's another story, I truly hate stairs and violinist that do not move out of the way 😪
Scarlett Weingartshofer i feel you sooooooo much cuz same here
Oh man, yes. Don't you wish to have the powers that come with the ant man suit, I mean it would be easier to carry around the bass even intercontinental flights with out worrying about broken or damaged instruments
wasnt aware that under the "someone had it worse" rule we cant whine
You’re so right, even at school when I’m carrying my bass and I’m trying to pass between people who are in the way they don’t move. They just stand there and stare at you and then you have to repeat it again “EXCUSE ME”.
Double bass here ,cellos have it easy 😝
Junior T for real same
Completely agree. I've had a countless amount of people say "That's a nice Cello you have there" or when I describe my instrument they'll say "Why don't you just play the cello?"
Junior T person: is that a violin
Violaist:ITS A VIOLA
*violinists laughing*
*violinist* uhm think about actually playing the instrument!
Imagine "Double bass problems" or "Octabasse problems" haha
Misi Pishi How do you even move an octobass you need like a dozen people
They would probally be the same but more extreme
Song that she is playing is Shostakovich Cello Sonata in D minor, Op.40
Yup, that's right! -J
my favourite thing about this video is that it opened with the elgar concerto
Dude I feel you, especially with the end pin slipping and the hair oof. Especially taking to set up compared to a violin/viola that takes like 2 minutes. Smh😤😤
SomeguestHere eh shoulder rests are pretty annoying too
Natsume Wu true
I'm both cello and violin and I prefer the setup with a violin all we have to do is gr it out of our case get our bow get shoulder rest put on instrument and done
You missed the one where you have to stand up to reach the music sometimes because the stand is too far away to reach it.
omg you are SO RIGHT!! that is a struggle! -J
cellist are lucky their cellos can actually be set down on its side
my violin has to put down on its bottom *shrug*
Christine Niu yeah but then some idiot runs by and knocks it over and it breaks the bridge
People don't trip over your violin just because it was in the way.
Christine Niu try being a viola nobody loves or even knows about them they get the worst parts of all songs to
Cookiez&Milk there was this substitute for orchestra and he tripped over a cello and broke it in half.
Zoe Z I almost had that happen once when my friend was at my house. I was a little pissed inside but I had to act like it was alright. 😂
So once the band kids at my school went into my orchestra classroom for some reason and I swear one pointed st the biggest bass there and called it a guitar before pointing at me with my cello and saying I held the guitar weird
I used to be a bass player but switched to cello which has the SAME EXACT PROBLEMS
¿Doble Bass problems?
This is me but with a bass
Dedrick Cruz same
Walking up to a reflective surface and thinking someone is standing right behind you. Scared myself many times like this. Terrifying.
You won’t experience these trains truly until you play bass
Love cello music. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I can relate so much to this😂 people always stare at me in the public when I carry my cello on my back as if I had a dead person on my back
This one kid at my school thought a cello was a type of bell.
*A bell.*
What an idiot... 😀😅😂
How is that even possible
Subscribed! Your awesome! You got every one of my struggles in this vid! XD
Hahaha yay!! Glad you enjoyed this and that it was relatable! -Jenna
Aw thanks!!! Appreciate the support! Haha yuppp takes one to know one! ;) -J
When your end pin starts slowly sinking and you find yourself crouching over the ground while playing the song...
Where did you get your case,it is so nice!!
Hi!! My case is from Bam France! It's the Mint Green Bam NewTech model. Hope this helps! -J
Any violinists just here chilling?
Wilson Mah yep
me
Wilson Mah yep
Always
Wilson Mah yeah
Why don't you mark your end pin with a sharpie (if it's black use a metallic one)?
Arabella Tan because a lot of times at concerts where we have all kinds of different chairs or wherever you have to keep adjusting it
That's right!
Loved your video keep doing what you love no matter how hard it is to walk up stairs with a cello
YAYYY I found a cello channel!!!
THIS IS SO ACCURATE, I'M SUBSCRIBING!!! 😂😂😂
*Also I have this problem where I will set up everything and once everything is in place, my sheet music will FALL AND I'LL REACH OUT TO GRAB IT AND I'LL ACCIDENTALLY FELL THE STAND AND AAGAGHAHAHHAHHAH all while holding my cello and bow in hand*
Love your content! Keep it up! :)
Thank you SWProductions!! :) -J
If it's already hard to carry a cello upstairs... now imagine with a bass
Omg I sooo understand! I play cello and sometimes it gets a little frustrating playing one and doin* all the stuff. I agree! Love you! 💗
FINALLY SOMEONE WHOS HAIR GETS STUCK LIKE ME
I have gotten my hair stuck a few times with my violin lol
I could imagine a cellist having more trouble but I can relate to some of this because I play bassoon. heh so much fun to carry around.
It took me a solid 5 minutes to get my end pin to the right length because I had a different chair 👌🏻
I love this! I feel like the first 10 minutes of my lesson every week is just getting everything set up!
At least you can put it on your lap for the end pin unlike the bass
Real cute presentation. Thanks for shooting and sharing.
WHY IS IT ALL SO TRUE!!!!
I used to play the cello and I had these problems, now I play the bass and I have even more!
John Doe oh my god literally same
I have a very small cello so once a small child said is that a getour
does anyone know what piece she was playing at 2:47 :)?
I can relate to _everything_ on the list. It's funny to see that we all struggle with the same things ^^
I am a beginning violinist, but I absolutely love your channel!
D&J productions oh ok thx I think I got some videos mixed up and I love your videos I have probably watched every one there is
Abby Meyer aw thanks ur so sweet! -J
D&J productions I have a question for you, how long have you played the cello because you are really good at it and i found the video that had the bass in it
Abby Meyer 14 years!
I couldn’t breathe when the violinist was so quick and you’re there just dieing😂
What about double bass lol
Then again, you could break your violin if you’re running too fast with it, and then if you smash it into a wall accidentally, then it won’t be too good. But with a *cello* , you won’t bump into anything since you have to be slow when you’re walking with it. But that’s just *my* opinion on why having a cello is better, though. (I’m a cello beginner in 6th grade, if you didn’t know.).
How the hell do you have 50 subs
I meant you need more
you are so sweet!! Thanks for watching guys! :D -J
Its so hard to move around in orchestra because there is a lot of people and I don't want them to hit my cello
Bass players crying
I’m just admiring at how beautiful that case is, like dayum.
hahah glad you liked my case!! -J
Also we are walking in 10 degree weather here.
carrying a cello in any weather in any case; Cloth or hard is challenging, let's just agree that this is a big instrument that we love anyway.
Valentín Alanis ok but that seems hard but have you tried doing all that but with a doublebass, cuz thats my struggle
Candice Marchese damn.. rip lol
Where's your cello case from? It's colour is gorgeous!
For the rocks stop problem, I really recommend the “Blackhole”! It’s small, light, handy, and the most important feature is that, it NEVER slips! Just make sure that the bottom of the stopper is clean.
Is so relatable it’s unreal.
3:24

I agree with this video so much. I'm a cello player myself and I can agree highly.
This is the most relatable cello vid I have ever seen
These are all 100% accurate. End pin slips get me the most
You guys make me think of a two set violin of cellos. Keep it up!
This is completely accurate, but the cello is so worth it
Where did you get your case😍 I'm looking for one right now and I absolutely love yours! Btw I loved your video and I completely agree with all of these! #celloprobsforlife
There was one time I had to climb up the stairs for a school talent show audition and I carried my cello, pitting all my effort into step by step till I died...
Nice! I totally have these problems!
Lol the Elgar concerto for the intro 😂
I play the cello lol i thought the hair getting caught on the pegs was just me! Why is this so relatable😂
i started cello in 4th grade. i was jealous of the violinists who carried their instruments around so easily. i switched to violin in 5th grade. that was 47 years ago. i never regretted the switch.
Thats how i was but I converted from cello to bass 😂
The music at 1:00 is in a K-pop song (SPEED -What U)... Is it a classical piece or not? 😁
I used to have that kind of carbon fiber endpin and it was a living nightmare. It slipped during my junior solo and chamber juries. Now I have the old school iron rod type endpin and I never have any issues. It is a lot heavier, though.

what is the piece your were playing while your end pin was slipping? bc im also a cello plauer and i would very much like to learn it bc it sounded good... well the first couple notes of it haha
Shostakovich Cello Sonata!! -J
This is what I struggle with EVERY DAYYYY! 😂😂
I have a rock stop without a thing that you put the chair in between, I also have a case of fabric (it's really fragile) and it doesn't have a flat ending so have to lay down to let it go. The struggle is real
How much was your cello? I want to buy a cello and yours sounds amazing
"The elevator is out of order" I've heard that too many times. Thank God for escalators when I'm at the mall and busking
I’m a cello player too, (Not as amazing as you) and this is so relatable…
BTW, I like that Michigan sticker on your case!
Aliya Kensler haha yay cello power!! And aw thanks! Yea so Michigan has always been my favorite school and I almost went there for my undergrad but then a turn of events took me to BU instead and I'm loving it here as well! :) -J
Are you from Michigan?
i play cello and i have really curly hair so when it gets stuck its is really hard to get it off of my pegs as well as i hate adjusting my end pen so i have someone else do it for me while i sit also i have a big problem with shifting it is just so stressful.
The Elgar Cello Concerto at the beginning 😍
I'm with you girl, with you 100
percent of the way.
How many fingers can you put on the cello string at once for vibrato
I have another one: Every non musician asks whether this is a guitar... A GUITAR... ONE MY BACK!
omg the adjusting endpin best example ever!
I know right, the pin slipping is so annoying when I practice. Plus my hair gets stuck, but it's so worth it, the sound is just so mesmerizing and the sound is beautiful
i can definitely relate to this good god the struggles :'D ( also thank you for making this )
I relate to the rockstop(?) Thing of playing an instrument and the adjustment part, I play bassoon and my instrument doesn't have a hook for the neck strap so I use the seat strap. I carry my seat strap around my neck 😂 then when I sit down I have to adjust the strap to each different chair haha.
