How about the non musical parents when you start talking about anything music related they forget and zone out and say I don't understand anything your saying I Guess that's what happens when your dad didn't play and Mom played flute for a month
I can relate to this 100%!! My mom is a teacher and I have heard every single one of these parents in her studio! Awesome video and fantastic wig collection !! Please do more I love it so much!
My mom is the parent who lives her musical experiences vicariously through me and doesn't actually KNOW about music but tells me things like "if you practiced more you'd be able to read sheet music and just play a song immediately!" like mom no that's not how it works my teachers been playing since she was 5 and it *still* takes her awhile to "just play" a song
You didn't include parents that have no idea about classical music and they are so happy and enjoy watching you playing even when you play awfully and just practice. But all in all this was a hilarious video xD
my mum played french horn seven years, also plays piano my dad is a professional pianist and drummer now i've been playing drums 3 years, flute 1 year, and oboe now for like 5 months lmao runs in the family
been playing oboe 2 months now. I’m super close with my directors and they’re like my parents, and they have so much faith in me. concert in three weeks. have two solos in two different songs. playing a song called el camino real. help.
Other than my parents playing in high school band/singing in high school choir for a bit years ago they haven't done anything musical lol I have an older sister who plays guitar as a hobby though.
My dad tells me I don't practice enough, that I'm not playing good, that I need to feel the music more. Usually when I read the music for the first time. He told me if I don't want to "practice more" I should just quit because I play the violin terribly, out loud in a silent lobby at my music school while all of the parents were there. I get no encouragement, and whenever I actually feel proud of something he just makes me feel negative again? This is why I don't practice in front of people or do recitals. sucks
Awwww I'm so sorry to hear that! I think it's so important to encourage all performers after concerts, because everyone works so hard for the performances! I'm sure you did really well, don't listen to your dad! Lol...
Me: mum sign this letter Mum: yh yh what for Me: cello lessons Mum: yeah whatever just don’t make too much noise. And that’s how I took trumpet/guitar/cello/Singing/piano
I was interested in music so my mother took me to the nearest music school. My parents thought I will play some kind of small stuff for fun, kind of reed pipe or something like that. But it happened that there was a violin teacher when we came and when she did my audition she said I will better play violin. I was 6 years old and even didn't know how violin looks like. And because of this curiosity I said I will go to violin lessons. It was something like occasional decision, but also a very big luck. Now I'm playing violin for 15 years now and although I'm amateur, but good enough to play in university orchestra and earn money as street musician. About parents, though, I didn't stop playing thanks to my mom. She is a school teacher and she always got me motivated, and if not her work I will end in less than 3 years playing and she was always encouraging me like a positive parent. My father is not a musician, but his critics where always good advice. He was caring but also strict enough to tell me were I am playing wrong. And when winning a competition or having a good concert there were always my parents to be first to greet me. Love them so much!
My parebts are the uncaring kind forsure. Im the only one in my family who plays music. My parents tell me to stop practicing because im too loud over their tv
lol I would probably start playing louder just to piss them off if I had parents like that. My dad is kind of an uncaring kind but he's not the kind that doesn't want me to play or sing anything, he just doesn't really care much what I do and is usually just focused on what he has to do. And my mom enjoys hearing me sing/play but she just isn't very knowledgeable about music herself so she doesn't give advice she just cheers me on like the positive parent example.
I have my SUPER dedicated and positive mother. She literally used to sit there at my music lessons and note everything down so I could read it afterwards 💚 (when I was around 8 I guess lol) nowdays she is still super positive and says things like "wah so good" and claps, after I finish playing a piece (I am not unbelievably amazing at piano but she is just super nice 💚)
My mom is kinda like that too except she didn't go to my lessons most of the time, maybe a few times but generally not. But whenever I would sing or play piano when she's around she just pretty much applauds me/says that was good/things like that
My mom is always like *I love listening to your music it's beautiful* but she always shuts the door to watch her favorite show. *YEAH MOM* *YOU'RE LISTENING TO MY MUSIC*
Next do Types of Musicians' Siblings... As an older sibling who started lessons earlier than my little sister, it takes virtually all my willpower not to correct her... XD
I remember when I was 11 I was learning a long version of the William Tell Overture on my flute and my dad was being so fucking nasty about it saying if i was the best in my section the other kids must have to be silent because I was so horrible and that I couldn't play and by the time he got me crying he'd start yelling and then expect me to immediately start playing again, like I'm sorry I can't see the sheet music through my frustration tears and if you're such a flute expert why don't you come over here and play this, with your ample knowledge on the clarinet (with its completely different note fingerings) the flute should be no issue. Thank god my mom was supportive and was actually encouraging to me even when I messed something up and was never a perfectionist about everything. I'm a good flutist now because of her methods (and legitimate knowledge of the flute) instead of my dad's screaming.
My parents aren't really into music so the mostly don't care, but every friday I have lessons from my grandpa and he really understands my passion for music, he taught me everything :)
My dad used to be in drumline, so je teaches me everything he knows and is super supportive. He does tell me when I do something wrong and does remind me to practice. Which is great!
My mother majored in music at school, every single time I practice I can't get through the tiniest bit without her yelling "WRONG, TRY IT AGAIN" and of I where to continue from where she shouted wrong she walks into the room and stares at me till I fix it.
That mom who don't play any instrument and tells you something for your playing very angry and you play it to show her that isn't the way it should be and then she is just "look, it sounds better, why couldn't you do it yourself" and you are just "Ughhhhhhhhh" in your head
My mum is the music equivalent of a dance mom, she always says I don't practice enough. It's okay though because that's basically most music parents, but being realistic I play piano, violin, clarinet and harp and I also sing, so how am I supposed to fit in more than 45 minutes a day? Also my brother used to play clarinet in competitions (so did I) and all the organisers etc would praise him and say it was beautiful, fantastic, amazing and I barely ever got a well done
My dad is a musician but he never learned musical terms, he plays really well still but he was self taught. Like the hardcore Mexican dad he is. Most of my siblings are musicians like me. So my parents are just the ones who congratulate me
We don’t want the Super dedicated parent. But that’s the one we all need. But the Harsh parent gave me flashbacks that actually made me cry like holy shit
I'm a polish clarinet player and I'm playing with my dad in band but dad isn't a musician parent. He's uncaring parent. My mum cares but she don't know anything about music. Nice video :D
What about the clueless parent? I play the trombone, and my mom won’t stop calling it a tuba. No matter how many times I tell her it never sticks with her.
Omg I play flute and my mom teaches music, but she's a choir teacher and doesn't know anything about playing the flute. We get into so many arguments when I practice, so I only practice when my mom isn't at home anymore. Which is super easy cause she is never home because of her work
Mine are the uncaring lmao they never show up to any of my performances whenever I start playing they'll yell at me to be quite or shut up or they'll be very disengaged with the talk about my music or practices or performances I geuss it's cause they just don't have the same passion for it as I do
Bloopers are the best kind of parents.
Pecfex Fextus lol 😆😆😆
How about the non musical parents when you start talking about anything music related they forget and zone out and say I don't understand anything your saying I Guess that's what happens when your dad didn't play and Mom played flute for a month
Maggie's World lol! Maybe there should be a part 2 to this video! 😁
Yes! My mum is the same! My music teachers always start talking to her in musical terms and then she just nods. We laugh about it afterwards!
lol awwww
What about the parents that casually remind you to practice everyday and encourage your music?
PhantomAnimations Lol! Will include in the part II video! :P
That's mine ;-;
Those exist? Cool
notsoawesomeadrianna I would say thats the positive parent
Or the apathetic parents... one step up from the uncaring ones as depicted.
I can relate to this 100%!! My mom is a teacher and I have heard every single one of these parents in her studio!
Awesome video and fantastic wig collection !! Please do more I love it so much!
Brigit O'Regan Lol! Thanks! There will be more! 😁😁😁
Brigit
my dad will yell at me from his room telling me that im either sharp or flat.
lolo SAMEEEEEE HE PLAYED VIOLIN FOR HIS WHOLE LIFE, MY MOM DID ALSOOOO OMG KILLLL MEEEEE
LOL.... I've always wondered if kids learn faster with parents' help! :P
I’m glad that nobody who lives with me plays an instrument anymore
SAME!!! Just my mom instead, she will shout "WRONG, DO IT AGAIN"
Awwww! lol....... Does she get it now?
My mom used to play the piano and now shes in heaven from cancer😢 she was only 43
It does work for some people. I have a friend who’s a lower level than me but much better at sight reading. Maybe you just naturally learn by ear.
She's right if you practice the right stuff you should be able to do that.
You didn't include parents that have no idea about classical music and they are so happy and enjoy watching you playing even when you play awfully and just practice. But all in all this was a hilarious video xD
MarsLos10 hahaha good point! Maybe we'll do a part 2! Thanks for the comment! 😁😁😁
or the ones that hate classical music and ask you to play "better" music.
my parents are uncaring, but they want me to practice. then they say it’s too loud, and annoying.
my mum played french horn seven years, also plays piano
my dad is a professional pianist and drummer
now i've been playing drums 3 years, flute 1 year, and oboe now for like 5 months lmao runs in the family
Wow, musical family!!! Must be fun! :D
been playing oboe 2 months now. I’m super close with my directors and they’re like my parents, and they have so much faith in me. concert in three weeks. have two solos in two different songs. playing a song called el camino real. help.
Adelle M omg ive always wanted to play drums because my dad did and I really want to 😣😢
I have no musical background. The only person in my family that has had a musical experience is my 2nd aunt and she played clarinet for a year.
Other than my parents playing in high school band/singing in high school choir for a bit years ago they haven't done anything musical lol
I have an older sister who plays guitar as a hobby though.
I have musician parents and harsh parents.....
You don't know...
It baisically means Asian parents
LOL! I sometime wonder what it'd be like to grow up with musician parents. 😜
My dad tells me I don't practice enough, that I'm not playing good, that I need to feel the music more. Usually when I read the music for the first time. He told me if I don't want to "practice more" I should just quit because I play the violin terribly, out loud in a silent lobby at my music school while all of the parents were there. Me: mum sign this letter

Me: cello lessons
Mum: yeah whatever just don’t make too much noise.
And that’s how I took trumpet/guitar/cello/Singing/piano

Next up. Drums
My parebts are the uncaring kind forsure. Im the only one in my family who plays music. My parents tell me to stop practicing because im too loud over their tv
Hahaha... this shows your passion for music! :P
Same
Same! In these moments I feel like piece of shit and don't want play anymore... however I always come back :p
I spy a TG fan 👀
lol I would probably start playing louder just to piss them off if I had parents like that. My dad is kind of an uncaring kind but he's not the kind that doesn't want me to play or sing anything, he just doesn't really care much what I do and is usually just focused on what he has to do. You forgot about the Parents who are truthful - if you're bad, they will tell you your bad. If you're good, they will tell you your doing good!
Will include it in Part II! :D
*you’re
My parents are the uncaring parent
vlazaro22 Oof
awwww I hope you love music though!
Me too except my parents suddenly care when there are guests. “Play for us. Everyone listen, she plays very well!”
Me :3 hahaha...that's great to have an encouraging parent! 😁 You must be very good to have very supportive and dedicated parent! 😁
Waw wo lucky
My mom is kinda like that too except she didn't go to my lessons most of the time, maybe a few times but generally not. But whenever I would sing or play piano when she's around she just pretty much applauds me/says that was good/things like that
That one parent who's okay with you playing but keeps asking you questions about it and asking you to quiet down.
My dad is a violinist,so while I'm practicing, I would get the occasional popping in and critique dropping lol
Lol! Is it helpful? :P
happyclare1018 honestly,yeah lol
Lol!!! Luckyyyyyy
Musician and harsh parents are what I'm stuck with haha my mom teaches piano, and my dad taught band. Funny relatable video!
Maximilien Evelyn Yeah but you're a muser they definitely have a reason to be proud of you
Haha...glad you liked the video! Must be fun to be in a musical family!
My mom is always like *I love listening to your music it's beautiful* but she always shuts the door to watch her favorite show.
*YEAH MOM*
*YOU'RE LISTENING TO MY MUSIC*
shoulda also been the 'doesnt-know-anything-but-still-tells-you-wat-to-do parent'. thats super relatable to me
Next do Types of Musicians' Siblings...
You two are awesome!! Absolutely hilarious!! Love it!!!
Daphne Grant hahaha! We had fun! Thank you😁😁😁
My parents are supportive and dedicated but they always come into my room and mess around with my piano and I’m like what are you doing?😂
Student: “You don’t even know anything.”
Mother: “Well I know more than you.”
OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH
Don’t forget the parents that don’t even know what a staff is :’)
My parents aren't really into music so the mostly don't care, but every friday I have lessons from my grandpa and he really understands my passion for music, he taught me everything :)
Marit Spaans that's so sweet! It must be so special to take lessons from your own grandpa! :D
happyclare1018 yes, it is amazing and we always have a lot of fun
My dad used to be in drumline, so je teaches me everything he knows and is super supportive. He does tell me when I do something wrong and does remind me to practice. Which is great!
My parents are the ones who don’t know anything about music but I still talk to them about music 24/7 and they pretend to listen
my mom is the positive one, she even learned how to read music and stuff like that to help us when we were little
My mother majored in music at school, every single time I practice I can't get through the tiniest bit without her yelling "WRONG, TRY IT AGAIN" and of I where to continue from where she shouted wrong she walks into the room and stares at me till I fix it.
Mix of positive, negative, super dedicated, and harsh.
lol both of my parents aren't musically inclined but i play piano, viola, most percussion instruments, and the kazoo, oddly enough.
Ik people are gonna kill me for not knowing this, but what is the song at 2:16 ?
Wait nvm. It’s Piano Sonata No 16
That mom who don't play any instrument and tells you something for your playing very angry and you play it to show her that isn't the way it should be and then she is just "look, it sounds better, why couldn't you do it yourself" and you are just "Ughhhhhhhhh" in your head
"Maybe this *should* be your last time! Just quit, just--- darn it, why did you start laughing, you messed me up!"
My mum is the music equivalent of a dance mom, she always says I don't practice enough. It's okay though because that's basically most music parents, but being realistic I play piano, violin, clarinet and harp and I also sing, so how am I supposed to fit in more than 45 minutes a day? Also my brother used to play clarinet in competitions (so did I) and all the organisers etc would praise him and say it was beautiful, fantastic, amazing and I barely ever got a well done
my mother is none. She just hogs whatever instument I want to play as I'm playing it 😂😂
My dad is a mix of the musician parent and the harsh parent and my mom is the super dedicated parent
My mom doesn't give a crap what I do with my flute but when I play for her she's impressed
My fave parents are the bloopers parents. LOL!!!!!!!
I was practicing my violin while watching this lol i relate woth most of these
I loved the blooper parents
Loved your video!
Omg my mom is like that but I play the saxophone
I am practicing Habarennara with my orchrestra this friday lol
My parents are a mixture of the positive, musician and dedicated parents. 😄
musician parent, super dedicated parent, harsh parent
Thank God my mom is not a musician. If she was, SHE WOULD DISOWN ME
My parents were strict parents haha
Judy Chao awwww hahahah! You must be really good! 😁😁😁
The Harsh parent was relatable :(
I remember teachers like that I want to learn right but I get caught up with my sensitivity.
My mom is a cross between the musical parent and the harsh parent which is not an easy combination to deal with, but this video hit it on the spot!
My family when I practice:
"Go somewhere else with that! That piece of sh*t's too loud!"
OR
"Are you SERIOUSLY taking band AGAIN next year?"
my parents are the negative, musician, super dedicated, and harsh type of parents
What's the music in 2:14?
Gabriel Salles Mozart K545 part one
Unimportant Fake musician thank you
And then there's my mom who sits and watches my piano lessons sometimes and purposely makes me feel uncomfortable.
The harsh parent reminds me of Kousei's mom from Your Lie In April
I play saxophone and my Mum just doesn't let me play it when she's in the house
Hahaha..😂 I've been playing guitar for 8 years and bass around 4 and my parents still call my bass a guitar 😂
My parent (my dads in jail so it’s just parent) is the “I’ll listen to your song you just spent a week perfecting later” but never do
What was the name of the piece at 0:48?
Mine is the super dedicated one 😂
I be going into different stuff and my mom says she’ll be broke
My mom played as a clarinet and my dad was a tuba but they aren't musician parent
0:48 is totally my parents 😂😂😂
I try to explain to my mom the struggles of playing the flute and she doesn't understand anything! 😂
2:53 I feel like thats what Yuja Wang would look like when teaching.
What's the music name at 0:01?? Can someone help!?! I'm searching that song's name for a year now (the piano song)
Omg soo funny love it
This is 100% accurate, mine is the uncaring one ;-;
so my mother is a mix between uncaring and "Mathilde stop playing right now I hate saxophone"
My parents is a mixture between positive parent and uncaring parent
I'm a polish clarinet player and I'm playing with my dad in band but dad isn't a musician parent. He's uncaring parent. My mum cares but she don't know anything about music. Nice video :D
musician parent is totally mine
I play the same instrument as my mom did in highschool....so unfortunately i have the the musician parent
My mum literally doesn’t care and tells me to shut up when I practice
What about the clueless parent?
I play the trombone, and my mom won’t stop calling it a tuba. No matter how many times I tell her it never sticks with her.
The musician parent, and the negative parent are MY PARENTS. Oh and the harsh parents.
1:40 When your mum is Martha Fucking Argerich
My moms just always bugging at the fact I must not practice when she's home... I can guess y!
There’s also the parent who have no clue how to read music and can’t tell the difference between a violin and an Oboe
What's the song called that he plays while the harsh parent segment?
It's from the Carmen opera suite.
Alison Carlisle Thank you so much! Just found it! :D
Omg I play flute and my mom teaches music, but she's a choir teacher and doesn't know anything about playing the flute. We get into so many arguments when I practice, so I only practice when my mom isn't at home anymore. Which is super easy cause she is never home because of her work
literally my mom is the negative/super dedicated one lmao
They should do part two. And include the “parent who thinks they know”
Wow so ironic when I play the same part of Ballade No. 2 and my mom jut came in and started yelling at me
LOL!!! XD
That super dedicated and harsh mom is mine
my parents are the musician parents (probably cuz they’re actual musicians)
My parents are super positive
Mine are the uncaring lmao they never show up to any of my performances whenever I start playing they'll yell at me to be quite or shut up or they'll be very disengaged with the talk about my music or practices or performances I geuss it's cause they just don't have the same passion for it as I do
Mine is the musical but doesn't know anything, super dedicated, and harsh parent.
The harsh parent was so relatable, it’s not even funny.
My mom is so the musical parent lol she played my instrument in college and in high school
Nice! Does she criticize when you practice? :P
1:40 she came in when she was practicing
My parents are the super positive
0:05 My parents 😂
Toba lol😆
where are the "don't practice in the house" parents lmaooooooooo
