    My 2021 S180 still has floating gas tank. Very good video! You really helped me make my decision.

    Nice honest video. I have an E170 and I love it. Right up until the starter went this past summer. I'm probably going to need to replace it along with the battery. Other than that, like you said, it does everything I have asked it to do.

      It is a nice little tractor and works just like it was intended. Thank you for watching

    Have you used this for blowing snow? Couple of questions for you if you have. Bill

      @@LedgemereHeritageFarm I noticed you said you put 30 pound wheel weights on. Wonder if this would help with traction in winter. Is there much to installing those weights? Any suggestions where to get those wheel weights from? Bill

      They came with a paper template to mark the bolt holes. The funny think is that the rims are two halves put together so you’ll have to drill through two pieces. It might be easier to remove the wheel and drill down instead of across. They will definitely help with traction when you’re mowings as well. Thank You for watching

    HAVE YOU GOT A LINK TO THE BEARINGS FOR THE FRONT WHEELS?

    We’re these sold by John Deere (dealerships) or Lowes, Home Depot etc?

      Thank You. Maybe 100? I don’t use it a ton, but it’s a really good mower. Has the same transmission as the base X-Series.

    Why did you upgrade the fount wheel bearings?

    • @LedgemereHeritageFarm
      @LedgemereHeritageFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Front wheels come with plastic bushings. I bought bearings from
      John Deere for about $30

    Where do you find the Wheel Weights?

    I'd tell anyone if you buy any brand of new mower take it home and drain the transmission and put the real 20w50 transmission fluid in not motor oil unless they don't care about having problems later on keep the 10w30 in that's already in the transmission

  • @Mike-su8si
    @Mike-su8si 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bet you never read how they fill up the transmission and what fluid they use john deere doesn't do it though

    • @LedgemereHeritageFarm
      @LedgemereHeritageFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve heard of people taking the transmission off and dumping it upside down to refill it.

    • @Mike-su8si

      @@LedgemereHeritageFarm that is a way to do it. I don't do it that way I put mine on jack stands and get the shop vac then start it up then press the drive pedal for awhile then press reverse for awhile I probably done that 10 or more times to suck out all the old fluid then let's off and pause for a few seconds then do the drive pedal and reverse one last time.
      And refill with 20w50 synthetic hydrostatic zero turn transmission fluid and hold the drive pedal and reverse cause some how it helps the fluid go in better

    My E170 stopped running after 25hrs with all the break-in maintenance done. Now John Deere Dealer is putting a new engine in it.

      I am sorry this happened, but it must have been a fluke. Other than the carburetor issues, that has been a very reliable engine. I hope that Deere is replacing it under warranty? regardless, I am sure it probably sours you on the whole thing. Thank You for watching

    • @krazyj1957
      @krazyj1957 ปีที่แล้ว

      Due to COVID, the mower sat for a year after it quit running which put it over the warranty. The new engine was $1450.00 but considering it was cheaper than purchasing a new one. In 1994 I purchased a John Deere LT133 which was still running good when I purchased the E170 in 2018.

      Same here. So far, this is a lousy, expensive mower.
