      @@SnailTrail4x4 Well, the headlights you linked in the video still get good reviews, so I figured it was a good way to go. So, you made a few bucks from your Amazon Affiliate membership links today. I use affiliate marketing myself for my Timmy the Toolman channel. I thought about making my own video on this subject, but I won't do that to you. When I feel I have something useful to offer the community, I will make my own video, but I can't really improve upon what you showed in this video other than maybe offering some better camera angles. I don't like ripping off other people's content. People do that to me quite a bit because there's nothing to stop them. Some people have integrity, but a lot of people don't. Good luck with your channel!

    Is there any reason you don't introduce yourself by name? The explaination of your work is great and well edited. I just used your spacer kit vid today. I have to admit though, I have watched several and came back to yours after finally dedicating the time to a Saturday to do this. You sir, are well spoken, attention is well kept with you non chalent but deliberate monologue. You don't say "um, like, so and okay" repeatedly as filler words like most. I think with a shot in the arm of marketing juice, there's no reason you shouldn't have 10x more subscribers in the coming year. Keep it up, seriously. I hope this is encouraging, Cheers from Kentucky!

    I just installed these lights on my son's 1991 Hilux Surf and can tell you that the harness is an unnecessary if you are ok with crimping connectors and able to read the pinouts on a relay..
    The car already has 20A fuses for each standard headlight and the LED headlight at max (High+Low beam) is about 2.5A each.
    I cut all 3 wires from the H4 connector and crimped a connector to each wire. The 12v fuse power from the box is there so use it. Still had to use 2 relays per light in order to reverse the polarity but much less cabling and still takes advantage of the fuses in the fuse box for the headlights so when trouble shooting you won't need to look any where else.
    You do add a ground wire from the chassis to the H4 connector.

      @@SnailTrail4x4 We wanted the driving lights to operate when the parker lights are on so we soldered and wire to the existing parker light and crimped a spade connector on the other end to connect to the LED headlight. I measured the current and it used 0.2A per light. I tried to take a picture showing a blue wire I soldered to the existing harness.

    Good video sir. I didn't want to go LED because I knew there would be power issues, your harness suggestion made me buy both items in the link and we'll give it a shot. Yeah, the old lights are very dull compared to modern tech... time to switch em out. SIDE NOTE: You can just take the plastic grill all the way off and work on the lights much easier, there's like 8 clips. I see you have a few SCREWS holding yours on, many people do this because the clips fail after 30 years of service. You can buy new clips at a toyota dealership (not discontinued like many first gen parts) and they are cheap. I did this and it's so much easier to just pop the grill off and on. They're also made with modern plastics and will last MUCH longer instead of turning to stone and snapping off if you even look at them :P.

    • @SnailTrail4x4
      @SnailTrail4x4  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I glad they worked out so well for you. You were talking about removing the grill, but I would still have to remove the four screws as well. So I thought that I could avoid the step by just working around the grill

      @@SnailTrail4x4 NP =] I did end up getting the lights and wiring harness. It was very easy to install and running the lines across the front to the driver's headlight was no problem as well. Haven't had any issues with them yet and I've gotten many compliments already. There's a couple things I really like about them. 1. Even when they are not on, the middle row catches all kinds of light and they LOOK like they're on... this is especially good for day driving. 2. They look bad ass, on and off. Was a cheap swap, easy to install and are clearly much better than the stock lights. I finished my build btw... and it handles much better than I thought it would on hardball... it's got a 5" trailgear lift with high steer, so I was a little leery as to how that would run on road... seems to handle better than original. Jumped it already too over the train tracks LOL it soaked up the landing like a champ, didn't get squirrely at all. Thanks again for the video bud.

      Pretty simple if you understand how automotive relays work. I used two relays, one each for high and low beams. Our headlights are wired ground side controlled from Toyota, so use the ground signal from the factory headlight connector (I used the passenger side) high and low circuits to energize the relays and send fused battery power to the lights. If you don't understand that then just use the harness you can get on amazon linked in the video description which is basically what I did just pre wired.

I hooked up a new relay and I got the high beams working but they stuck on once I pushed down on the light switch or flashed pulling them up. SnailTrail4x4 I wish I had that much luck. Im going to try the long way and put a single relay on each side headlight and each side highbeam (4 relays altogether). Surely that will work. I was getting power to the relay but it just wouldn't pass the power through 87 pin to the lights. Never been so confused with relays before.
      Parts on order and fingers crossed.
      Update: ok so I watched what this guy in the attached video below did which is basically do it from the ground up. He explains it well if the above clip doesn't work. This got my lights working. I did it with only one relay per side (not two like he did) so I was able to use the plugs from above kit but I decided to use new relays as one was faulty anyway.

    Hi, I was wondering if the the DRL and turn signals work?? That headlight housing you showed had a DRL and turn signal light feature. Otherwise did you guys chose not to use it and stick with the hi and low beam headlight only? I'm just curious cause I wanted to do the same thing on my truck and wether or not I need additional wiring for DRL and turn signals.?? Any info is helpful thank you!

    So I have a 1988 Toyota 4x4 & Bicyaco LED headlights. I purchased the Kaslight H4 Headlamp relay & installed as your video suggests. On the pass side I only got a T configuration & an all light configuration(not bright). However on the drivers side, where the extra set of wires is run behind radiator across truck & into the LED’s I got nothing. Any ideas? I have used the “adapter wires” supplied w/ LED’s in so many configurations now, I am both perplexed & frustrated. Argh, Suggestions?..

      I've heard that sometimes the connections can be backwards and you would need to unplug the wires and then switch them and plug them back in, if that doesn't work you might have a bad harness

      Kay, Yes. The stock wiring harness is designed to run halogen bulbs. LEDs run on a much lower voltage than the stock bulbs. The harness comes with the relays already inline for a lower constant flow of current. This is also why you can run both LED headlights from just one side of the stock harness.
