I miss my old B series but I don’t miss the constant maintenance on them. My old AU was a different animal and was extremely reliable. Currently looking for another AU XR8 but good ones are getting a bit thin on the ground now.
I've had a heap of B series and AUs, love them both and they both have their good and bad points. It has to be said that AUs are the more solidly built cars and better designed (inner door handles anyone?) but they're also a generation behind in terms of HVAC and I love the intech but the Barra is a different beast entirely. BA diff bushes are garbage and every XR6T I've had has been finicky and constantly needed fettling. Absolutely magic when they're running perfectly but that's not as often as you'd like. One of my BFs has done 500000k tho (300k with me) and aside from some ball joints and bushes it's been the best car I've ever had. Horses for courses at the end of the day. Like I say I love them both and there's nothing to replace them.
Turbo sounds great Sean. It's always good to keep spare parts stashed away for a rainy day. If you're going to replace your headlight clusters, Ozeparts have aftermarket ones which are good. Always with aftermarket headlights is to give them a good polish before you install them.
Hi Mate. Have you tried polishing your headlights? The plastic gets sunburnt and looks like crap. The trick is after you have them all nice and shiny, use a headl;ight polish on them to keep them that way. Regularly using the polish will help, just like sunscreen for our skin. If the reflectors in the back of the lights are tarnished, there is nothing to fix that, just replace them. Cheers
Great to see the BA back on the road, also keeping an eye out for when the Magna comes back. If you're after new headlights for the BA, recently I've seen some BA/BF XR headlights online (Mars Performance in Melbourne being one of them) that look identical to the stock ones, but with halos in them. I reckon they'd go really well with your fog lights.
Mate your falcons are immaculate! I do miss your old VT calais, but im sure shes gone to a good home. My biggest regret in life was selling my BA XR6T in beautiful mandarin orange with the T5 manual. Absolutely immaculate in and out, but i used the money i got for it to buy a house. I still to this day look for it.....but with the power it had, I'd say its been wrapped around a tree or written off 😥
My xh through the belt just like your au and I replaced everything just as you did and did it again around a month later turned out the harmonic balancer was moving forward slightly throwing the belt replaced the balancer and been fine since 👍🏻
Great to see the BA back on the road sounding awesome. Hard to tell what let go on the AU but my thoughts are the belt. Looks like your heater pipe is dripping there too, put a new washer and some gasket glue and will never leak again.
Checking daily for the Ralliart and its new looks Sean, cant wait mate! Since i got mine back in may this year..driving daily also.. still waiting to see another RA around ipswich area! 👌
@@MotoringBoxTV Hey no offence taken at all, probably do the same if I had a turbo 😅 your Xr6 sounds and looks really good, was great to meet you mate and have a chat ✌️
Hmmmm - can you share some details about that metal PS pulley? I've been trying to find one. I have an FGX though and I wonder if the pumps are different (different shaft size?).....
Could have just been the belt itself. I've had a new belt snap in half. No defects with any of the pulleys or tensioner. Put another one on and that one never failed.
Turbo is sounding awesome! What state was the water pump bearing in? If it's stuffed it'll be the likely culprit - otherwise maybe the bent idler arm is to blame - it does look pretty flimsy. Not sure what the BA version of the Barra is like, but I did replace the tensioner on my FG turbo a few years ago, and it did not have a top idler arm on it (unless my middle aged memory is playing up), so perhaps your spare is back where it originally came from? 😀
I am an ex vet wanting to do a Barra conversion in a 68 mustang, i have done engine rebuilds on 1lt mc’s.I have a 2002 xr6T Ute to do the conversion. I have some mechanical knowledge but just want your advice on the core conversion and would like your opinion on the conversion as your last video was a few months ago, however do have the ability to do a rebuild. Only thing stopping is time and experience Very many thanks Steve
Hats off to you for putting up with the turbo's and sinking money into them. When I end up with my old man's XR6 turbo ute, the first thing I will be removing, you guessed it, the turbo.
I'm so glad that like the part I sent ya and mentioned my name in the video.
Kind regards
Sean
Great to hear the turbo is working and car is going well 👍
For a 'home enthusiast' you make a pretty good mechanic. 👍

Constant? What do they constantly need when driven normally?

Sounds so much better!!! Be careful with too much boost, the conrods on the BA were not the strongest. At least at low rpm.
Sounds bloody good to me. Good job
Great job mate the ba sounds good keep up the excellent content
Could take bets on how far the rod shrapnel will fly! ;)

I’m back motoring box. Great content.

I've thrown th belt off my el before and it was the power steering pump pulled like yours it just cracked and the plastic came away from the metal hub
Great to see the BA back on the road sounding awesome. Hard to tell what let go on the AU but my thoughts are the belt.

100% that tensioner pulley is the cause and super common. Mine did the exact same thing
Good spot with the tensioner!
Great 👍 work there mate.
Good ya keeping the content coming.

Harmonic on the au love to walk and fall off has happened to me twice. The rubber gasket goes on it
What involved in turboing a BA gas motor do I lower comp!

Is yours white?
@@MotoringBoxTV sure is
Hi mate, nice meeting you today. Didn't mean to pull out so aggressively so apologies for any offence caused. The car seemingly had other ideas haha

How is the Puslar core still going
Hey I'd be really interested to see a video of the water pump replacement! 😊

Hey Sean good to see you. 😏
Great video
Is that gran trismo menu music?
Going to goodna, did I hear that right.
Next shot, police car on side of the road with its party lights on. Yep, Sean is in goodna all right.
good video mate
Times finally come to do mine watching this for the 6th time

The Ute is a manual t5z

Very Goodna indeed. Sweet.
I would blame the power steering pulley it was common for them to throw belts when cracked.
Did you say 55d century for ba auto xr6

have you got oil pump gears in this? or are you running stock ones still?
Stock, but the Haltech has full engine protection set up. So if I lose oil pressure I'll know something is up immediately.
Is it a good eyeliner po box or a god awful on the ground on ya knees po box?
About half way between!
Great to see the overbearing background music toned way down. It's a motoring channel, not a music video. Much better.
New turbo = more boost! Let's get 30PSI into this thing!
Now now, we don’t want Rodney knocking on our door now, do we ?😂😂
Lol, it’s a ba… 30 psi will be spectacular
ayy a fellow brisbane boy!
i KNOW where that first part is, GOODNAAAA
Bent from secondary damage
