Omg. I just watched your video. Myself and my mom has been a huge huge fan of Tina Turner. Omg this is amazing. I had a few records of them that was a gift from my mom but sadly my children and I recently lost everything when or home burned down. I always wanted to go see this home. This is amazing. I love this. Much love and support always.
Interestingly enough, I actually wasted time watching "What's Love Got To Do With It" to see this house and IT'S NOT IN THE VIDEO! That video was filmed OUTSIDE in the city. You are full of crap.
So true after watching unsang I found out that both her kids were not by Ike in fact she was dating spider and had a child with him b4 Ike took her... Also she lived with Ike and his woman from the movie b4 she hooked up with Ike... So yes the movie did not tell the whole truth
My mother went there in the 70's because one of her friends dated one of the band members. Tina gave my mother a pair of shoes that she still has today.

My father actually worked for Tina Turner once to set up her stage for a concert, and he talked with her and said she was a very humble woman and they got along, especially since they both practiced Buddhism. May she RIP.
Wish I had seen her in concert. Re-watching this amazing episode and mourning the loss of the one and only Tina Turner! It all goes by so fast, but I'm glad she is released from pain.
The fact that that stuff was still there is mind blowing. Never knew the movie was at the original home. That’s one of my fave movies. Gonna go watch during the epidemic lol
Ike didn’t want Tina keeping her married name because he thought without it she’d be all washed-up. That’s all she wanted from their divorce, her married name with no strings attached. And I personally think he beat her to control her. He didn’t want her having any self-esteem, because with self-esteem she’d have the confidence to leave him and he couldn’t tolerate that. So he tried to beat the self-esteem and confidence right out of her. He knew without her HE’D be all washed up. She was his meal ticket and he knew it.
I’m guessing the house is in Baldwin Hills. Which was known as the “Black Beverly Hills”. My grandparents lived in Baldwin Hills from 1956ish to 1975. My grandma was always super proud that Esther Rolle had bought her house.

It would of took Tina at those moments to had been a strong black woman way back then to take her future to where she wanted it,instead of an abusive man to use and abuse her. Enough is Enough. I would have been saying," knom ke nurrang ho after every time i stomped on his head. When an abusive man is having an orgasm while on top of a woman, thrust your hand into his throat as in the hand gesture,as if your saying" heil hitler" aimed into the soft cartilage of his throat ! The coughing from him and the time spent from him trying to regain his inhaling to get oxygen into his lungs, should give u sufficient enough time to whoop his ass and still call the police for his disrespectful ass. Then move on and enjoy your life. Ain't nobody got time for that.. 😉👋🏃
Dorothy Hogge watch Rock Hudson the movie came out 1990. Watch Girl Positive it's really good. There's another movie I'm going to watch after I get my new bank card it's called Star 80. It's about Dorothy Stratton. Playmate of the year who gets shot in the face by her boyfriend. Maybe my suggestions will help you.🌈
That's Amazing !!!!! I almost drowned in that very pool ! It's also where I learned to swim on the same day ! Thank you Tina and Maxine Porter Womack for inviting all us kids to that pool party !! I'll never forget it ! Wow. What memories. I wish my Mom was still alive to see this. Thanks Dude. This was fantastic. Do this with Donna Summer home. Although I've never visited her home , I did meet her twice. Ironically enough, Donna is mentioned in What's Love Got To Do With It ? I feel like I'm in a time machine !
Just got through watching your video of Ike and Tina Turner house, just so you know when I was a little kid my aunt knew Tina Turner & the Ike's So my aunt my mother and I went to that house I remember sitting down on that couch in that house I remember how it was just like in the movie its exactly how that house was great memories I also with my aunt and my mother went to Ray Charles house in the same neighborhood area Baldwin Hills and still right today it is called Baldwin Hills where all our black celebrities had lived .
28:32 he never smiled and poor tina had a fake smile, couldn't imagine her life with a drug addict,so glad she made it away from ike,he was pure evil,u go tina
Wow! Some of these old celebrity houses are a preserved time-capsule of treasures. I can't believe all the vintage stuff and memorabilia you scored, and for it to be still intact and left in the house everywhere. Definitely a worthwhile trip. Weren't those 1960s bungalows low? Long and narrow. A very cool tour indeed, love your videos and vlogs!
the check was signed by Tina's sister who was the leader of the "Ikettes" and also wrote songs for Ike and Tina. Good find. That place was a like a time capsule.
It's actually still a very nice place, I wouldn't mind staying there if they refurbished & cleaned it all back up at all. But boy if them walls could talk 😕
Not for much longer...whites are taking over. All the older generation blacks have passed or moved. Unfortunately because that was the best generation. :(
Thank you! I have a house in Baldwin Hills Estates in the Don’s and that’s where I grew up . That area where this house is called View Park in Windsor Hills. Who’s telling this story???
@@truth2powershow Ah, the Don's. Don Felipe, Don Miguel, Don Quixote, etc. These are all streets in Baldwin Hills. My aunt and my ex are LA natives and I think it's cool how they refer to that particular area as the Don's.
The check was made out to Sam Rhodes, who was the bass player of Ike’s band, The Kings of Rhythm. Oddly, it was around this time (1962) that Ike had fired him. The Ikettes were part of the revue as backing vocalists on tour also during this time with a revolving lineup, though one member, Jessie Smith, had been involved with Sam Rhodes and temporarily quit the Ikettes after Turner fired him. As far as the check’s signature, it was Tina’s sister Alline Bullock, who had been a manager of the Ikettes in the early 60’s. An incredible find and a fascinating memento of music history from the time when female backing vocalists emerged as popular and successful groups of their own. I hope you keep it - you ended up with a choice collection that day!
I was totally blown away by your tour of Ike and Tina Turner's home. Those collector's items that you framed may be worth a lot of money in the future.
R.I.P. Tina Turner I remember listening to her as a kid that check you found that has Dec.9th 1962 I was on December 9th 1977 glad you got to check out her house and happy that you found some cool stuff to take home with you
She wasn't a hater but she probably loathed the choices of what you could get for your money .Paints were very basic old colour cards had anput 8 - 16 basic shades and unless you knew craftsman you weren't going to get things jobs done quickly with exclusivity .
Quick fact: The check from 1962 that the Narrator shows us was signed by Alline Bullock, which was as many of us know, Tina's older sister. Alline sadly passed away in 2010.
When Ike sold that house you'd think he'd have sold every possible thing that would have made him money. Perhaps he upped the price of the house itself because of all that was left inside. Personally I wouldn't want any of it since it's all so tainted with sadness. Tina's beautiful soul suffered in that place, and the children who witnessed it all, too. Thank God she mustered the strength to get out. Thank you for showing us this piece of history.
You hit the memorabilia jackpot! That was soo opportune that you went on that day and got to go in and was allowed to take stuff! Good on ya Jordan' You really are a LION! Love you!
Around 1982 or 1983, I was in a bar in Dallas, and while waiting for a drink at the well, I noticed a wildly dressed lady in spiked heels, a fur jacket (it was late spring going into summer in Dallas!) and wild hair ahead of me ordering her drink. She walked away from the well and I stepped up to get my drink and asked the bartender who she was because she was definitely different than the clientele that was there. He said Tina Turner. Mind you this was before Private Dancer came out and made such a big splash. I asked the bartender "You mean Nutbush City Limit and Proud Mary, that Tina Turner?" He replied the one and only. One of my mild brushes with fame. She was there with a friend, I think it was one of J Paul Getty's grandsons. I met him at a later date, a bazaar experience I will not get into here.
@@frankonolfi1966 I didn't know who she was until the bartender told me. She was across the room by that time, and I felt she needed her privacy so I stayed with my crowd.
I've watched the movie and can't believe he treated her that way. I won't say what I think of him but so glad you got to go inside her house. I'm calling her Anna Mae since Ike picked her name and doesn't deserve the recognition.
That's what I was thinking. Almost make it museum-like, since it was SO CLOSE to the way it was. But since it's in a neighborhood, I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed.
"landmark," exactly. We're puzzled that No One in the Turner's family would claim it PRIOR to his selling it outside the family... Huh?? Even in the Bullock family... none of them wanted it?? It's gotta be completely puzzling to their respective DNA that strangers get to keep their family members' things. See my comment above. Even #50Cent knows not to sell the house he grew up in. Yes, we know, #TinaTurner nor #IkeTurner grew up at this location, but they spent a significant # of years there.
HTHTV3 for her, wth would SHE want it? She got beaten severely and RAPED in THAT room. I highly doubt she'd want anything to do with any of it, minus a match and a gas can. I find it interesting, but NO, there's no way...
Very nice memories of you & Lenard together with his family. Sad to hear he passed away. I’m seeing this vlog in 2022. Thank you for the time & effort you put in this vlog while recovering from the injury mentioned at the beginning. Nice seeing Jah too. ❤️🙏🏻🐕🦺🌴💐🌹
Don’t let the glass of the frame directly touch the artwork bc over time humidity will seep through and cause the art to stick to the glass. Best to have either a “acid free paper mat” or a thin strip of plastic what is known as a “spacer” recessed/hidden under the moulding of the frame to create a space between the glass and art so that they do not touch...
My Dad and brother owned a music venue in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Ike and Tina Turner were one of the acts during a weekend concert and my Dad said said he hated Ike. Ike never took his eyes off Tina. He had to get high before going on stage which made them late, his fault yet he was blaming her and at one point grabbed her hair, back of her head and shoved them shoved almost making her fall but she held it together. If you knew my Dad, boy, Ike was lucky. My Dad said took everything to not say something or punch him. But they had a concert to run and needed to keep things moving since they were late.
Jackie: In her book, she shares how Ike woke her up in the wee hours of the morning, making her get out of bed and cook some food to bring to their recording studio. I guess he and the musicians were laying tracks, etc. The studio was called Bolic Sound, on LaBrea Blvd. in Los Angeles. It is still there....though I think it's just sitting there. It was a very short 5 maybe 10 minute ride down the hill from the View Park area; featured in this video. She got up and cooked a full dinner...and took it to the studio. She was just going to drop off the food, get them fed and leave. While she was there....Ike wanted her to lay some vocal tracks. She didn't want too, because her voice was still sleepy and she was tired. Well....volatile Ike....got mad and hit her. Years later, after reading her book.....I dated a very nice guy who was a singer, and kind of hung out with other musicians/singers who knew Ike. He was in the studio that night and witnessed Ike hitting Tina. I asked him if anyone came to her aid....and he said no. Now mind you my friend, built like a boxer....did some boxing/sparring, though not on a professional level....but he could throw punches with the best of them. I asked him why didn't he knock the heck out of Ike! He said he wanted to but had to stay out of it because it was none of his business, and Ike's guys were ALL packing guns! So he just excused himself....left....and never went back.
Rape culture. Domestic Violence culture. Victim blaming culture. It used to be "a domestic issue" and only if the woman pressed charges. Until OJ nearly cut her head off, they finally passed mandatory criminal laws. This still goes on.
Wow I wish they would had kept it as a museum of the past of Ike Tina from the 1970s it was so beautiful at one point of time it would had been like taken a trip to the past and getting a taste of our history like time traveling:( it would had been so cool and a honor at the same time love ❤️ u Ike and Tina
Second time I've watched this and it's truly amazing that the people who bought the house from Ike & Tina still had all of the mementos. Great find, Jordan. You should have called Scott Michaels when you found this gold mine. I'm sure that he would have loved going thru the "stuff" for his museum.
I took everything that I had from the house to Scott michaels and let him chose as much as he wanted for the museum.. I didn't want it all for myself, but I didn't want them to throw it all away during construction either, and they told us that's what was going to happen
j r It was so long ago for Tina. She's grown so far past that, as has time, so the memories of all of that are probably like remembering a bittersweet movie. I lived a similar life a long time ago (w/o the fame.. Lol!😉) & that's how I feel about it.
What he means is that Tina was a devout Buddhist. She was not a Born Again Christian. She did not worship the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit.
THIS IS A GOLD MINE! It's RARE that a house is this close to the original form it was when the star lived there. I mean, it's literally frozen in time! Like Ike and Tina just moved out yesterday lol. YOU'RE SO LUCKY MAN!
I just have to think, Tina lying on her bed after having an altercation with Ike, how many tears she shed. I’m sure there were just as many bad times as there were good. I’m so jealous. Great finds and Amazing Video!!
Currently watching the movie on VH1 and ran across this . Love how you spoke with so much passion & respect. Thanks 😊 for the tour of the house ,you’re awesome 👏🏽! Also, Loved how you put the visuals of how it looked before it was stripped together for us . Dope vid 💕
When you showed the check - Alline Bullock was Tina's sister, who also managed the Ikettes. That might be the most collectable piece you found in the home. I think Ravi nay have autographed the album, but should authenticate it, his later autographs are more legible than the ones from the 50s and 60s when Ike may have acquired it.
OMG! I owned a house like that! It’s called ‘The Kingsley model!!’ But theirs was designed very differently, inside! Wow, I loved that Kingsley model house!
I LOVE how you go back and forth with the old pics of the house. And I agree with you, I can’t believe there changing the style of the house! I would have restored it exactly like Ike and Tina had it. All fresh and new but exactly the same. Then I’d really feel like I was in the Ike and Tina Turner house. PS I want wallpaper! I’d use it as the liner in my jewelry box!
Wow!! Beautiful and sad. I'll never forget her on some kind of show telling about the time where she didn't have any money and she tried to give the man manager at the hotel the jewelry off her body and told him she would get him money if she could just get a room to get away from her husband as she was bloody and beaten all over her face and body the manager of the hotel gave her back her jewelry or would not take her jewelry and said yes you can have a room and you will be safe here we won't let him come and get you. True story! Pretty sure it's the movie 2
And I’m sure that hotel manager was financially stable for the rest of his life and still is today because of his good heart ❤️ she’ll never forget him for that 😢😢
I was sorry to hear Tina's sister Alline past away few years ago. To me I thought that Alline would live a little longer. She seemed to have past away too soon at a early age. My mother is one year younger than Alline and she is still live, God Bless you.
Thanks for sharing. I met Alline in Los Angeles. We patronized a nail shop on Crenshaw Blvd., that specialized in acrylic nails. She was so nice; and I enjoyed spending time as we waited for the services; just talking to her about Tina. She told me how Tina was staying with friends, cooking, cleaning for them in exchange for her room and board. She didn't mind....she loved her sister very much, and was proud of her humbleness and humility. I had not too long before meeting Alline; saw Tina at a club in Hollywood. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name......because Hollywood has changed so much since the 70's. But anyway.....Walking around the club, just checking things out....and I recognized her. She was by herself.....just walking around checking the club out as well. At first I was nervous about approaching her....but I did anyway. Tina was very gracious nice, polite and stunningly beautiful with smooth, flawless skin. She was quiet and reserved. I introduced myself....told her how I had loved her music! We stood there and chatted, with me remembering her early songs that I danced to at Horace Mann Jr. Hi in LA., from the early 60's. "A Fool In Love," and "Im Blue," with the Ikettes; "Ooh Poo Pah Doo," by Jesse Hill. Even the recording where she speaks spanish at the beginning of the record! I had no idea at the time all the trouble and problems she was going through personally with Ike. I told her we missed her records, asked her why she wasn't recording, that she needed to be back out there. She was very gracious...and told me that she was working hard trying to get back on the music scene, and thanked me for wishing her well and talking with her. I shared all of that with Alline....she enjoyed so much hearing about my encounter with her sister....and promised that she was going to mention me and what I had shared with her to Tina. Some how I never saw her again, because the nail shop closed; but I have never forgotten what a nice, funny and friendly lady that she was.

This is by far the best video I've watched during this pandemic. Thank you!
Oh my i thought the same thing lol

Totally agree wow amazing!!
Maybe my suggestions will help you.🌈
We loved this, thanks Jordan and Jah 💛

Very cool story
28:32 he never smiled and poor tina had a fake smile, couldn't imagine her life with a drug addict,so glad she made it away from ike,he was pure evil,u go tina
I wish I could have been there to take something. I love Tina’s music, ambition, and courage!!!
One of the coolest things I’ve seen on TH-cam
Me too
TINA TURNER , Is still The Queen of ROCK !
Rock? Um, someone needs to learn their ABC's of music genres ...
nah niki minaj is
Tell me something I don't know! Say a prayer for her bc her health hasn't been too great from an article I've read.
@@DarkVoidDan -- Please!
Yes, Yes she still is and will always be!
That check is signed by Alline Bullock- Anna Mae Bullock (aka Tina)’s older sister and manager for the Ikettes.
She did so much better leaving that living situation in the past. She got the last laugh!💯
the check was signed by Tina's sister who was the leader of the "Ikettes" and also wrote songs for Ike and Tina. Good find. That place was a like a time capsule.
That house needs to be BLESSED and Smudged of all negative energy left there..
Nah, just go in and say, in the name of Jesus Christ I command any evil to leave this place. Burning plants does nothing but make a stink!
It's actually still a very nice place, I wouldn't mind staying there if they refurbished & cleaned it all back up at all. But boy if them walls could talk 😕
Chloєë Hamilton that house is probably haunted
Phenomenal Woman haunted? By negative energy maybe?
Phenomenal Woman why would it be haunted? No one died there...
Phenomenal Woman Haunted by what?
Chloєë Hamilton Ike would probably move right on back in there with you 😂
domestic violence is never nice, i adore Tina Turner, im sorry she had to go thru that but her story can touch many young females lives forever!!!
This has to be one of the dopest walk thru ever!!! It’s amazing as well as incredibly sad.
FYI..... it’s still called the “Black Beverly Hills” in 2020
I never heard that
Not for much longer...whites are taking over. All the older generation blacks have passed or moved. Unfortunately because that was the best generation. :(
Thank you! I have a house in Baldwin Hills Estates in the Don’s and that’s where I grew up . That area where this house is called View Park in Windsor Hills. Who’s telling this story???
Stasi Robinson Yeeessss! That’s exactly what it’s called!!!
This is so bittersweet. I have always been a fan of Tina Turner and I am happy that she got out of that bad situation.
Always remember, One person's trash, is another person's Treasure😍😍😍...this was really cool
I love how passionate you are about telling the story!
I was totally blown away by your tour of Ike and Tina Turner's home. Those collector's items that you framed may be worth a lot of money in the future.
The "after" pictures on the Zillow listing show quite a transformation by the contractor. 4263 Olympiad Dr. for those interested.

So much unhappiness there. Heartbreaking
That's so amazing, "What's Love Got To Do With It" is one of my all time favorite movies. I never get tried of watching that movie👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

R.I.P. Tina Turner I remember listening to her as a kid that check you found that has Dec.9th 1962 I was on December 9th 1977 glad you got to check out her house and happy that you found some cool stuff to take home with you
This video was two years ago and I'm still jealous that you got so lucky!!! How cool to be able to walk thru and take items you wanted.
Tina hated the house when Ike decided to remodeled the house in the early 1970's. She stated in her book she hated the green in her kitchen.
Just control smh never loved her.
I could see why to the house look better before
She wasn't a hater but she probably loathed the choices of what you could get for your money .Paints were very basic old colour cards had anput 8 - 16 basic shades and unless you knew craftsman you weren't going to get things jobs done quickly with exclusivity .
I’d be afraid of Ike haunting that joint. Especially after tearing it up.
Joey Robison keep going please share you got all us interested now
Why didnt you chat her up. Surprised
@@frankonolfi1966 I didn't know who she was until the bartender told me. She was across the room by that time, and I felt she needed her privacy so I stayed with my crowd.

Bizarre*
I've watched the movie and can't believe he treated her that way. I won't say what I think of him but so glad you got to go inside her house. I'm calling her Anna Mae since Ike picked her name and doesn't deserve the recognition.
suzanne Baker sorry to tell you that some years back it came out that a lot of things was not true about there relationship
She faught for her stage name in court, you'll remember..:)
I would never sleep on that bed.
I wish they had left it and turned it into a tourist siteb
That's what I was thinking. Almost make it museum-like, since it was SO CLOSE to the way it was. But since it's in a neighborhood, I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed.
They had a beautiful home back in the day. It was gorgeous.
They should have kept it just the way it is for a special landmark
EXACTLY!

I love hearing the enthusiasm in your voice as you describe such things as "the original curtains"....I feel the same way.
I absolutely loved this house, always have. There is something about vintage homes that makes them so cozy.
Jackie Rains \ I saw Ike and Tina perform in Philly at Uptown Theater for $2. along with other acts, I was 20 yrs old, ;) it was 1962.
Just sad to hear

Scott has already been there & taken some things!
Wow. Tina really DIDN'T give a sh!t. I feel her pain.. It's like "Let Go & Let God"..
j r I feel Tina after all she went through with Ike I would have left all that shit too.
j r It was so long ago for Tina. She's grown so far past that, as has time, so the memories of all of that are probably like remembering a bittersweet movie. I lived a similar life a long time ago (w/o the fame.. Lol!😉) & that's how I feel about it.
What the hell do you mean by that dude?
What he means is that Tina was a devout Buddhist. She was not a Born Again Christian. She did not worship the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit.
Thank God Tina survived
Bet those couches have some good stories to tell.
Dope vid 💕

My aunt was one of the realtor in the transaction of that house. I got a chance to tour it and Ray Charles old home in Baldwin hills.
I know what you mean it feels special to have a piece of somebody you never met that's so talented
YOUR ITEMS DEFINITELY HAVE VALUE NOW! REST IN PEACE TINA!
The same curtains?! Can you imagine the smoke residue left behind😂
😂😂😂😂
Easy to tell how young you are. If you had lived during this time, you MIGHT have more respect for the past, not make a bad joke about it.
PS
I want wallpaper!
I know R.I.P. Tina.
DarkVoidDan Tina Turner is still alive..
DarkVoidDan No you really don't know LOL . She just turned 80 about a month ago .
And I’m sure that hotel manager was financially stable for the rest of his life and still is today because of his good heart ❤️ she’ll never forget him for that 😢😢
I remember that scene in the movie

That's Alline's signature!!! Tina's sister. She also worked for Ike. Man you are so lucky!
I was sorry to hear Tina's sister Alline past away few years ago. To me I thought that Alline would live a little longer. She seemed to have past away too soon at a early age. My mother is one year younger than Alline and she is still live, God Bless you.
Thank you for this private view, it is enjoyable. Thank you for treasuring and sharing these precious memories ...
