Second of all, sadly, itd be pretty hard to get Rainbow 1.0 back due to Rose Quartz no longer existing. Rainbow 2.0 isn't hogging the spot light, its just that Rainbow 1.0 literally can't exist any more. (Sorry if I sound a little rude, that's not my intent.)
The best part about this fusion was the Jacket Pearl got with her reformation. The symbolism of it is powerful. It represents Pearl’s acceptance of separating from Pink/Rose and being her own person/Gem, and not just a blind loyalty as a Pearl usually has during Eras 1 and 2.
E. Norma Stitz cause pearl always reformed her self to look like a present or her original form when Pink/Rose first got her. The jacket was the first thing that she really did for herself

I feel like Rainbow & Sunstone should have gotten their own arcs like Smokey did...Smokey was built up due to Amethyst & Steven growing closer & it felt justified...while I’m happy they got their own episodes in Future, I wish that we got to see how Garnet/Pearl grew close to Steven & why they fused.
They were supposed to but dumbass homophobes got the show cancelled super early which means we can't get our good plots. At least we got to see them at all, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Yeah so here's a little story Courtney asked if sunstone and rainbow quartz 2.0 could have been and change your mind Rebecca said that if he could draw them they would be in the special, so if he didn't draw them they wouldn't be in there trust me if the show got a 6th season I doubt they would have made Steven fuse with Garnet nor pearl besides they had the entirety of season 3 and 4 to set up a character Arc with Steven and pearl and Garnet they just didn't do it cuz they got lazy with all the filler

I wonder why Future Rainbow 2.0 doesn’t have Pearl’s jacket like he did in Change Your Mind. I mean, in all the other fusions in Future that include Steven, do have his jacket, but it is mostly tied up (at least for Smokey). In my opinion, Future Rainbow 2.0 should have had Pearl’s jacket, but with the design of Steven’s jacket. A fusion, for the fusion, if you will.

I wish they’d do a Steven Universe Past. That shows the entire story for Pink Diamond including her upbringing, start of her colony, interactions with the first humans, transformation into Rose Quartz, the war, and finally meeting Greg and more of their relationship, pregnancy, and finally the birth of Steven.
You know, when gems fuse you can see their gems when their bodied merge together. When Rose and Pearl fused in front of Greg, you can see Rose's gem. However, since she Is a diamond, we should have seen her diamond cut gem instead of a flat quartz, and then everyone would have known she is a diamond. Even though she rotated her gem so it looks like a quartz externally, but Rose is a diamond through and through. It ticks me off a little even though its a minor detail
maybe her gem changed when she poofed and permanently came back as a rose quartz? i am not sure that it's possible to change the gem shape so it's only a suggestion 👉👈
I think it has something to do with the fact that pink was in rose's form at that moment. As we saw in the episode with all the stevens, gems' physical features when they fuse also has an outcome on the fusion. So since Pink's gem was rotated when she was fusing, it stayed rotated when she turned into rainbow.

For one thing, there were a lot of moments before the finale where they upped the level of their trust and relationship, but in the Rose’s Scabbarb episode, Pearl still holds a little bit of grudge against Steven and still sees Rose. The showing of the fusions in the Finale seemed rushed and crammed, but I feel like there was no better moment imo
No, because they didn't feel the same at this time. Pearl was in pain and mourning Rose's death, while Steven was supporting her. He never met Rose Quartz, so they didn't share the same pain at this moment to fuse.

I feel like 'We Need To Talk' was more about Rose and Greg accepting and embracing their extreme power imbalance. It was both Rose seeing Greg as more of an equal, and Greg seeing Rose as less of a being of perfection - because, from the beginning, their relationship has always contained a dangerous power imbalance that would have resulted in a lot more pain if she continued letting him idolize her, or if he continued letting her treat him like a toy. The episode leaves off on a sense of catharsis for the BOTH of them, not just one or the other, because both of them realized their perspectives on each other had completely shifted from puppy love to "holy crap we're taking this seriously, which means we gotta seriously talk about these differences between us!" Good video tho, I've always wondered what the purpose of Rainbow Quartz really was. I mean I love both renditions, don't get me wrong, but they both felt a little useless (to the plot - not to my heart!! ahah) until I saw this vid. So thanks! (:

Rainbow quartz 2.0 is actually my favourite fusion right next to Stevonie. Both are very telling of the relationships between the people. Pearl is basically a nanny to Steven most of his life and she watched him for many years as he grew into a person she couldn't shelter from the world anymore... She learnt to see him as him instead of rose/pink. Connie was originally Stevens first friend around the same age, and as they became best friends, went through conflicts and hard times together and apart, they grew to trust each other and care for one another very much, evolving their fusion and it's meaning along the way. This was a fun video! ^^
oh someone did mention how Pink learned from the diamonds, hence why she wants to “play” with greg, she thinks its a little game. she didn’t consider his feelings at all. That’s why when greg tried fusing with her she was confused on how she should act, I think the talk made her open her eyes. She used to see other humans, they were temporary and to her. Just like Spinel, they were toys for her, she used them. In an episode Rose told greg “you’re really cute and I really want to play with you” like she saw it genuinely like a game. That’s why Pearl said “you’re just a phaze.” because Rose would leave humans over and over.
I love what you said about the rainbow being the connection between the gods and the Earth. Pearl is what connects Pink/Rose and thus The Diamonds to Earth. If it wasn't for Pearl, Pink may have never come to the planet and started the rebellion.
Since Rose and Steven aren't actually quartzes, I really wonder if 2.0 and OG really are 'Rainbow Quartz'. Technically, neither component is quartz. But I suppose I don't question it too much since choice of identity is such a big theme in the show and it isn't like a fusion's gem is literally a mixture of two other gems. It just doesn't seem like a proper mix of two gems that aren't quartzes, for a species where quartzes have such specific purposes and existences. A quartz is a soldier, and neither Rainbow Quartz, or really any Steven fusion (except Smokey Quartz which does contain a quartz), seem very soldier like. Then again, my friend had a cat named 'Dog'.

A bit late but since Rainbow 2.0 is very flamboyant and a bit goofy in his attitude and voice I imagine OG Rainbow being very sassy, mischievous and defiant personality. So for her voice I’d imagine Rita Ora as her voice. I just feel like she would suit Rainbow in that department.

Pearl WAS kinda a bitch to Greg but the more I think about it the more I understand it. Especially if you think about Pearl’s perspective on Rose and Greg, because she has a lot more reason to base her opinions off. She’s likely seen Rose love other humans and then move on from them. Her claim may not have been based just on jealousy but from actual experience. I personally believe that the o.g. rainbow quartz is very similar to Rainbow 2.0 but with a lot more sass. Likely a strong "I'm hot and I know it" vibe. She'd probably be teasing people left and right.
I love Rainbow 2.0 as a character because, as interesting as the pearl/rose dynamic was, they were pretty unhealthy, and probably so was their fusion. I love the original RQ's design more, though. I only really like how Steven's look integrates into Smoky Quartz, it just doesn't feel right to me on the others. Though at least Obsidian's use of Steven's clothes isn't really noticeable.
Question: would RQ2 have the memories of RQ1? I thinks it 50/50 bc we know pearl has those memories but Steven doesn’t. I think this is an interesting topic because it lets Steven understand what being with his mother was like.
Rainbow Quartz 2.0 is my favorite fusion in the show! Instantly fell in love with him. I love that they finally made a fusion that also uses male pronounce!
One thing I didn't like about 2.0 and Sunstone is that they were just forced in the finale without any buildup or character growth like Smoky Quartz did. I would've preferred the fusions happen earlier or in Future.
I think that the original Rainbow Quartz would have the soft/slightly sultry sounding voice that Rose Quartz does but would speak and say things in a more formal matter like Pearl does!

I think that RQ1 used a microphone which turns rose’s shield into a dome and attaches it to pearls spear. I think her abilities would have to do with light based sonic attacks similar to Lion’s roar but more offensive.
I think that fusions with Steven have more non-deadly weapons, and roses fusion weapons would be used more for battle. This is why i think that OG rainbow would have an axe and smoky would have a saw blade on a rope (idk abt sunstone)

She is a diamond. Which makes her far more powerful and gives her powers more common gems wouldn't have. She probably can change he gem shape at will.

Rainbow quartz 2.0 is actually my favourite fusion right next to Stevonie. Both are very telling of the relationships between the people. Pearl is basically a nanny to Steven most of his life and she watched him for many years as he grew into a person she couldn't shelter from the world anymore... She learnt to see him as him instead of rose/pink. Connie was originally Stevens first friend around the same age, and as they became best friends, went through conflicts and hard times together and apart, they grew to trust each other and care for one another very much, evolving their fusion and it's meaning along the way. This was a fun video! ^^

oh someone did mention how Pink learned from the diamonds, hence why she wants to “play” with greg, she thinks its a little game. she didn’t consider his feelings at all. That’s why when greg tried fusing with her she was confused on how she should act, I think the talk made her open her eyes. She used to see other humans, they were temporary and to her. Just like Spinel, they were toys for her, she used them.
In an episode Rose told greg “you’re really cute and I really want to play with you” like she saw it genuinely like a game. That’s why Pearl said “you’re just a phaze.” because Rose would leave humans over and over.
I love what you said about the rainbow being the connection between the gods and the Earth. Pearl is what connects Pink/Rose and thus The Diamonds to Earth. If it wasn't for Pearl, Pink may have never come to the planet and started the rebellion.

Since Rose and Steven aren't actually quartzes, I really wonder if 2.0 and OG really are 'Rainbow Quartz'. Technically, neither component is quartz. But I suppose I don't question it too much since choice of identity is such a big theme in the show and it isn't like a fusion's gem is literally a mixture of two other gems. It just doesn't seem like a proper mix of two gems that aren't quartzes, for a species where quartzes have such specific purposes and existences.
A quartz is a soldier, and neither Rainbow Quartz, or really any Steven fusion (except Smokey Quartz which does contain a quartz), seem very soldier like.

A bit late but since Rainbow 2.0 is very flamboyant and a bit goofy in his attitude and voice I imagine OG Rainbow being very sassy, mischievous and defiant personality. So for her voice I’d imagine Rita Ora as her voice. I just feel like she would suit Rainbow in that department.

Pearl WAS kinda a bitch to Greg but the more I think about it the more I understand it. Especially if you think about Pearl’s perspective on Rose and Greg, because she has a lot more reason to base her opinions off. She’s likely seen Rose love other humans and then move on from them. Her claim may not have been based just on jealousy but from actual experience. Also my girl dedicated her entire life to one person who she thought she would spend her whole life with only for it to be set off track by some human dude with pretty hair Id be kinda mad if that happened to me

I can't explain how much joy I was given hearing you use both he/they from RBQ 2.0!! I go by he/they and so many will only use one of the 2 for me
I love Rainbow 2.0 as a character because, as interesting as the pearl/rose dynamic was, they were pretty unhealthy, and probably so was their fusion. I love the original RQ's design more, though. I only really like how Steven's look integrates into Smoky Quartz, it just doesn't feel right to me on the others. Though at least Obsidian's use of Steven's clothes isn't really noticeable.
Question: would RQ2 have the memories of RQ1? I thinks it 50/50 bc we know pearl has those memories but Steven doesn’t. I think this is an interesting topic because it lets Steven understand what being with his mother was like.

Rainbow Quartz 2.0 is my favorite fusion in the show! Instantly fell in love with him. I love that they finally made a fusion that also uses male pronounce!
Fun fact: due to the greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris, in portuguese, spanish, and other languages; the rainbow is actually called an iris bow
I also think that rainbow 2.0 is more masculine due to Pearl being rather (at least in my eyes) more masculine than the other gems.

One thing I didn't like about 2.0 and Sunstone is that they were just forced in the finale without any buildup or character growth like Smoky Quartz did. I would've preferred the fusions happen earlier or in Future.

I think that RQ1 used a microphone which turns rose’s shield into a dome and attaches it to pearls spear. I think her abilities would have to do with light based sonic attacks similar to Lion’s roar but more offensive.

I think that fusions with Steven have more non-deadly weapons, and roses fusion weapons would be used more for battle. This is why i think that OG rainbow would have an axe and smoky would have a saw blade on a rope (idk abt sunstone)
