I actually love that Sunstone looks so different from the other fusions, they have a more cartoony vibe than the other fusions, and no distinguishing facial features other than the big ole smile. She's not different in a way that you'd expect either and that's why I like her.

The sunstone was used by the Vikings in navigation. It can find the sun on an overcast day. The way light is refracted through it allows the user to pinpoint the sun's direction, allowing the user to orient themselves. Not only can a sunstone help you figure out which way is south (or north if you're in the southern hemisphere), but if you do a little math, it can tell you your latitude. The sunstone is especially useful at temperate and polar latitudes, where fog is more common, the stars are a bit less reliable, and the sun stays firmly to the north or south of its zenith.

Then again his head shape and hair tuft look almost exactly like Mayor Dewey's, so who knows? Vidalia gets around. Rewatch "Story for Steven" if you want to know who Sour Cream's dad might be 😉
Edit: So forgetful, me. There's an episode, again I forget which one, which shows pictures on the wall of Yellowtail holding a baby Onion. Paternity confirmed. Babyhood also confirmed, he wasn't always ageless. Also, Drop Beat Dad. So much information there.

Sapphire can though! People seem to forget this all the time. Just look at the answer, when Ruby and Sapphire land, or that one episode in the motel where Ruby and sapphire unfuse! Sapphire floats up into the air and floats slowly down onto the bed

I wish moonstone existed in the series because sunstone takes more stuff from ruby than garnet as a whole
I love Sunstone, but I honestly would have wished for a Fusion that centered around Saphire a bit more, beeing Good and Calm - not a Walking PSA but a Walking Therapist.
Because all of Garnets Fusions take much from Ruby, and everyone of Stevens is Bubbly - would have loved to see a bit of the Calmer, doubtful Steven in it.

Maybe sun stone will have the ability to read and alter people's emotional chakras as a mix of Stevens empathetic abilities with ruby and sapphires elemental abilities, eg sapphire has a cold or chilled out chakra and ruby has a hot or angry chakra

Sunstone is a cheeky way of sneaking in life lessons for kids in an entertaining way.
I honestly think there should be a SU show that's just about Sunstone going around and teaching life lessons. Would surely make an entertaining way to teach kids stuff.

Sunstone might a be a volatile gem when Steven's insecurities would surface.
Most if not all of the personality seen on the surface does not address the gem themself.
This might be due to to the character lacking a personal development or agenda and thus swells into a safety briefing, PSA type of character.
If Rebecca would be able to expand on Sunstone's ins and out, there might have been a moment where Sunstone completely breaks down and loses the front they put up. Maybe come to some form of resolve to be humble and helpful but do so without the over the top character.
Garnet is responsible and safety aware around Steven, while Steven sees Garnet as a superhero type. The character does need time to assess and get used but overall a good character.
Personally, Sunstone is my favorite fusion. I just think she’s really funny and her design is cool

i think sunstone should be bigger. Steven is a literal diamond and is way stronger than pearl or amethyst therefore they should be way bigger
Yeah but in change your mind we saw that when his gem is removed his “gem” form is not diamond sized, also pink diamond was smaller than the other diamonds
He is also still technically 50% human so with pink diamond already being much smaller then the other diamonds and Steven being a teenager still and probably isn't done growing it makes sense that most his fusions aren't very tall.

Honestly I feel like Steven's fusion with Garnet shows that Steven kind of connects more with Ruby in this fusion and overall, bringing out the fire more in the fusion than Sapphire's ice and cold personality. Because Steven's personality is closer to ruby's they dominate the fusion more than Sapphire does even though she's still very present bringing them down to earth a bit more and I think she can break the forth wall because of Sapphire's future vision.. I also think that's why they're more androgynous/masculine since Ruby is usually portrayed as a more masculine gem while still identifying as female (I used to think Ruby was a boy bc she wears shorts and has a very flat chest and lower voice). I have a headcannon that if Steven fused with just Ruby their fusion would be even more fire based, less collected (because of the lack of Sapphire), and would be extremely hyperactive. That's just my thoughts though lol.
Question could there ever be a fusion that make moonstone and what do normal sunstone in steven universe look like

As a kid of the 80's and 90's, I absolutely adore Sunstone's cheese.
Hmm, maybe it's 1/4 the height of the other triple fusions, with big arms for punching, and PSA messages, so they could call it a 1/4 pounder with cheese?! *shows myself the door*
I personally think it’s awesome that basically none of Stevens fusions (excluding Obsidian) actually have gem weapons. He’s got a YoYo, umbrella, and suction cups, witch can kinda sorta not really be used as weapons, but aren’t Actual weapons. Stevonnie uses Connie’s sword along side Steven’s shield witch is basically the only time he ever really uses an actual weapon.
I mean, since we don't see Sunstone and Rainbow Quartz 2.0 in battle we can't really say that the umbrella and suction cups aren't used for battle. Smoky does use her Yoyos in battle more than once.

Sunstone’s weapon isn’t really dangerous, but it might have been like that because of her “Safety Talk.”

It was very interesting to compare, in the original animation, the naturally formed versions versus the fusion versions of the same gems. And, of course, characters like Sunstone can evolve as Steven gets older.
Sunstone actually takes both Steven's and Garnet's leadership ability, the cool calm and collected from Sapphire, the red hot passion from ruby, and ofc, the kind and caring from Steven
Also, with her ability to break the 4th wall, many speculate its because of the diamond enhanced future vision, letting them transcend time and space
when Sunstone is on screen, the 4th wall has ben killed
I think Sunstone should were reddish orange pants with red toe and heel accents, should have visible shoulder pads, a star like pattern like Garnet’s shirt but is on her sternum, and should have a bright yellow face shaped like Steven’s with a nose like Ruby’s and plump lips like Sapphire’s with five orange eyes.
sunstone is my favorite character in general. not only fusion but my favorite character.
my only gripe with the "change your mind" fusions is the fact that it's been clearly established that both gems have to consent to the fusion. where's Steven just hugged them in their poofed gem form and rushed through it. I understand the show was likely being rushed by CN execs, but it just felt so anticlimactic
I wished Steven’s fusions were bigger than what they were, Smokey Quartz and Rainbow Quartz 2.0 size made sense. However Sugilite and Sardonyx larger! Amethyst is probably is close to Steven’s hight and weight, however Sugilite was HUGE and Sunstone was kinda small for a 3-Person (or in this case 2 Gems and a half Gem half Human) fusion.

I was one of those people who was disappointed by sunstone at first but I’ve grown to love them
