Haha, you think that’s bad. I have lived in Australia for my entire life and they fly up to my balcony ever morning for worms. It’s like having 23 2 year olds that can fly.
Australian here. Kookaburras are also known for eating snakes as well. (Kookaburras around, just to be extra careful) And plus too, I know some areas where Kookaburras will literally steal your sausage sandwiches and rolls from your hands. They are indeed fearless.
dude i remember when i was about 8 watching my dad cook a BBQ in the royal national park and this kookaburra swooped down and picked up a whole snag the proceeded to do it 2 more times. ballsy cunts.
*every other creature feature video* : "these aren't pets , but look how cute they are! Isn't this just the sweetest" *this video* : "look at my boyfriend's bird from hell"
I will never forget travelling in Australia, falling over walking back to our glamping tent from the shower room, and having a chorus of kookaburras laughing all around me. I have never wanted the ground to swallow me up any harder than i did at that moment 😂
Can confirm as resident of Australia for 25 years and citizen for almost 20 that adoration is the correct response. "Kookies" are very much loved here, as much a national emblem as the Kangaroo and the Koala.
Here in Australia we get taught a song at the age of like 4 that goes something like ‘The kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, merry merry King of the bush is here, laugh, kookaburra laugh, kookaburra sing your song with me’ If you didn’t get the hint kookaburras are very loved here
and the "kookaburra sitting on the electric wire, jumping up and down with his pants on fire, ouch kookaburra ouch, kookaburra sore you bottom must be"
Cant say I have ever heard anything about Kookaburras before or during grade school. As a non American animal I’m surprised you learned about that here in the US
I have. My indoor cat Harlequin was very happy to show off her first mouse kill to me. Now she hunches over it and viciously growls her brother and me. And I mean really vicious sounding. Although she hasn't bit or attacked once I take the poor field mouse away. But then again I gave her a can of her precious canned food. God forbid I ever run out because I think by she might eat me. She's a bit of a scary 6 pound cat at times. The rest of the time she's really sweet and let's me bury my fingers in her ultra soft n silky fur.
I absolutely adore how much effort and knowledge you put into these videos. I'm currently in college to become a vet tech and work at an animal hospital but I want to work close with exotic animals. You definitely inspired me a lot! 💕
I was unaware that they were kingfishers. When you look at them side by side, it's so obvious but it just never occurred to me. Thank you. I learned something new.
I love kookaburras!! I have a family of them living in a tree nearby and one always comes by my place to hunt for lizards and stuff. I love hearing their laughing call, however it can make you really self-conscious when you’ve tripped over or done something stupid and 2 seconds later, you hear them laugh lol.
I always get them round my house they land on my verandah i feed em bread with some worms n they drop snakes in return sometimes they come inside the house n they make good alarm clocks lol
Bread is the absolute worst to feed to animals, especially birds... especially carnivorous ones! Feeding wild animals in general is actually gonna fuck them up. Not only is it not their diet that they need but they breed more, don't teach their babies to scavenge and hunt but beg from humans and then when you go away or stop feeding, those babies will die of starvation because the parents will stop feeding them. They might go to another human to be fed but that doesn't always work. Just don't do it ever lol
I love this video; it reminds me of my childhood; once in elementary school, our music teacher taught us this song called, "Kookabura"...Kookabur sits on an old gum treeeee, eating all the gumdrops he can seeeee; laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra see what you can see; I will never forget that song, and our music teacher was named Mrs. Russell; thank you for bringing back childhood memories; we enjoyed the video!!!
We had two Kookaburras on our fence this morning having a competition to see how annoying thy can be before someone shoos them off. 6 AM. Kookaburras cackling like a couple of avian Hyenas. I was not amused.
This is one of the funniest videos i've ever seen! These birds are hilarious and what you write/say makes it even funnier! Btw I really love your videos, I've learned so much already! :) Much love from Canada ❤
Maybe some people disliked this video because of how the thumbnail says that “he’s evil” to the kookaburra that was seen in the thumbnail of the video. Either way, that’s probably my prediction.
Kookaburras are such cool birds to watch. I have seen them swoop up young snakes and fly them up into a tree. You can hear the bones break as it bashes the snake into the tree trunk before it slurped it down like spaghetti. It was eye opening to witness.
When I was five or six years old a kookaburra stole my sausage-on-bread right out of my hand! Let's just say, I was very distraught (Also, Happy Australia Day to you too, Em!)

Babakook, a regal bird yet dauym that laugh was indeed creepy when slowed down, not to mention loud! I did find him super adorable on how he was chatting away happily once he got his daily mice
I could listen to you educate me all day. You’re great at pulling people in. Well at least pulling me in. Lol love this bird. How beautiful and amazing sound is this being?! It’s so fascinating
My parents live next to a zoo. The zoo has a kookaburra.
So THATS the thing that wakes me up every time I spend the night at my mom’s
Haha, you think that’s bad. I have lived in Australia for my entire life and they fly up to my balcony ever morning for worms. It’s like having 23 2 year olds that can fly.

Imagine a world where kookaburras are found in every neighborhood. Alarm clock companies would go bankrupt!
I'm all for the loud, natural way.
