    I've a New Zealand marked No.4 Mk.1* Long Branch from 1943. Like yours, it's also in excellent condition and very accurate (2 groove barrel). Your video is the only one I've seen about NZ No.4's and I very much enjoyed it.

    Nicely done. Drive by the factory when i am in Western Massachusetts along with Springfield Armory and Smith Wesson.
    Looks like i will be watching your videos when i go to the land of 🐊.

      Thanks for watching. I would love to check out some of these old factories when i get to visit the USA. I've been to Lithgow which is a great experience and well worth a visit when you are here

    I had a US marked Savage 2 groove plus a few more Enfields but .303 ammo is expensive n primers are now 100 bucks.... Don't know why .303 brit. it's expensive they made enough too.... should be like 54r ammo.......sold my brit rifles..be well.

      Depends where you are i suppose. Where I am .303 is much easier to find and cheaper generally than 7.62x54R .

    Hey dude, I cant find your socials to flick you a message, but I have a couple of questions about the Savage No 4s. I've got one in the shop for a restore, and it seems to have a lot of mismatched parts. Just trying to dig up some information for the customer. If you could flick me a message that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers man.

    Hey mate, the muzzle on mine has no bayonet lugs, any ideas as to why that might be?

      Most likely a commercial replacement barrel

    Not as good as the mark 3 star

      In what way is the No1Mk3 * better and in that logic wouldn’t the no1mk3 be the best rather than the *? Just curious as the No4Mk1 was generally seen as improvement due to things like the increased sight radius, better sights (mk1 singer) , stronger action etc

    • @anthonyryan9706
      @anthonyryan9706 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@servicerifleshooter the mk3 star was sighted to 2000 yards and the mk4 only 1300...the mk3 was hand made craftsmen and the mk4 was mass produced and had a sloppier action and not as heavily grooved and not as accurate

      @@anthonyryan9706 The sight thing has me baffled , do you actually believe the No1Mk3* had a 700yd longer effective range than the No4Mk1?

      @@anthonyryan9706 Sorry for disagreeing with you in certain points... following is my opinion and there could be some minor inkorrekt things that i write cuz its only from my top of the head without grabbing my books..... The No1 SMLE models are also kinda mass produced. They made about 7.9 millions of them (Time Frame from 1903/5 to 1965 isch). The No4 Variants just 4.6 millions (Time Frame 1948 to 1956 isch) The sight Radius and peep sight on the No4 are far better i my Opinion. The barrel on a No4 is in general a little thicker and had less bedding Problems than the SMLE. Both Modells SMLE and No4 had a Lot of Handcrafting / Fitting work done by Skilled workers. I personally own a bunch of them and I can say some SMLE are not as nice as a No4 AND vise versa BUT it depends on the Year and Factory of origin / make AND the Condition they are now. A lot of them are badly maintained or are worn out. Both technically could reach out to 2000yards cuz of the same Cartridge and other similarities besides obvious sight system. There is a difference in Accuracy if you compare the 2 grooved Barrels to the 5 Grooved barrels YES but mostly after 300yards. SMLE's had mostly 5 grooved barrels the No4 had a mix until 1948 then only 5 grooved ones. With Heavier grooved do you mean the grooves where deeper? or as i mentioned the groove count cuz the groove style is like almost he same 1/9-10 twist rate for what i know.. ?! I get it the SMLE is the Icon AND most people love it cuz of the Nose cap and Bayonet etc.. I like the Simplistic and straight forward style of the No4 way better. Both have their places and both can be very accurate if the shooter is also capable of it. Enjoy your Enfield rifles and the hobby of collecting and shooting these. Wish you a nice Day. 😄

      @@patriks_surplus_kitchen5251 I think you know your stuff...only my experience with the mark 3star convinced me on a rifle range that the mk3 was a better weapon..it seems to me your knowledge might be greater...thank you for corresponding with me...respect to you sir
