had VLC for years and did not know about the radio stations; violin solos, crime drama, plus music. learned something today. thanks.
For video playback I use Media Player Classic. The interface is based on an old media player that used to come with windows. It's very minimalistic. It'll play everything as well, just like VLC but it has a very simple interface.

Years ago I used to use VLC for many things, but one cool application was that if you had a video where the voice and video were out of sync you could correct it with plus and minus buttons. Making a note of the settings meant it would work perfectly next time it was played.

Potplayer does that as well, I use it as a substitute to VLC Player since this last one always gave me issues with fast forward.

1. Battery bar Pro - Shows the consumption details, and battery wear and capacity over time
2. Everything Search - So much better than the normal windows search
3. DNS jumper - smart switching between DNS servers
4. Duplicates Cleaner

I also like Panopreter Basic, which can turn text into speech from several formats and in many languages, either just reading it out or creating files in WAV and MP3 format.
This is quite brilliant. I've used FreeFileSync for years, and now finally I understand the options. I'm off to try the apps I didn't know about.

Yes, these apps do come in handy. For one, I have trouble with a bunch of redundant files. I can really use this FreeFileSync. I use VLC all the time. It plays EVERYTHING! You are the bomb with these videos.
I don't consider her a "TH-cam", she is a real productivity teacher!

Good recommendations. On apps to check the health of your HD or SSD, though, i would still recommend using the app by the manufacturer (Western Digital, Samsung, etc.) of your particular drive.

I would add "Everything" to the list. It's a powerful file search software that populates results instantly as you're typing. You can search local drives as well as network drives.
100% my favourite app, it's legendary.
They do need a different name for that app.

VLC is amazing, have been using it for years. It's particularly good for Android TV when playing remote media (on a personal media server or NAS for example) as the built in TV media player often has poor compatibility.
I heard lots of good words about VLC, installed it many times and deleted it all the time. Maybe I am picky but I hate that cone and poor looking design. But it works fine. Anyways, I stick with Windows Media Player.

What a stunning collection of apps. I agree about the versatility of VLC Media Player in the audio and video arena. An application which is extremely versatile in the imaging area particularly is IrfanView by Irfan Skiljan. It has a plethora of plugins and also handles video and sound. I particularly enjoy its batch modes.

Very useful software, thank you for the list. You may also want to consider "everything" which is a is a desktop search utility for Windows that can rapidly find files and folders by name or parts of names on any connected disk on your computer - a very useful and powerful search utility!

Nice set Leila. What I use or recommend for those functions:
1. PDF Exchange Viewer-used it for many years to work in PDFs.
2. Directory Opus-not free, aimed at the power user. Free with tabs: XYplorer, Free Commander-which also has dual panes.
3. I use Crystal Disk Info.
4. Simple Data Backup for file backup; Macrium Reflect for system disk image.
5. PotPlayer-best if you want options, VLC is my second choice.

Zoomit is another great tool...ZoomIt is a screen zoom and annotation tool for technical presentations that include application demonstrations. ZoomIt runs unobtrusively in the tray and activates with customizable hotkeys to zoom in on an area of the screen, move around while zoomed, and draw on the zoomed image.
You might take a look at Total Commander, is fantastic. The sync feature is part of it, along with many, many others.
Another rec for Total Commander, though it is not supposed to be FREE for long term users. Payment is not forced, but is expected once you decide to keep the program.

Amazing tips, Leila! While I do use these apps, one small nifty thing that I use and find very handy is listary: find any file on your computer, anywhere, speedy, super easy! Most importantly, it also has a portable version, like many of the apps you showcased!
