I have to tell you - I not only love your Prequel products, but your packaging is outstanding. I will never throw my Universal Skin Solution bottle away. It sprays the finest mist that I have ever felt. I will keep it and put an essence in it. I have tried essences in other spray bottles and it feels like I am being assaulted by a Super Soaker. As a gynecologist, I really appreciate your comments about vaginal hygiene. I have seen sooo many women who think they have yeast infections, and instead their itching is due to overcleaning. Many fall prey to the hyped up marketing around feminine washes, or they will say "but it is natural!" Doesn't matter, the genital skin is very sensitive to any type of cleaning agent, especially if it is scented, natural or not. Thank you as always for your excellent content!

Oh my! When I had bad acne as a teen. We were told to scrub, scrub, scrub our faces. In fact, we were told to use a Buff Puff to scrub our faces at least twice a day. I remember how sore my face was. I am sure that it only made my acne worse and compromised my skin barrier. I was made to feel as if my acne was caused by me being dirty. Nobody took better care of their skin (at least with the products that we had and how we were told to use them). It was not until I was an adult and Retin A came along that I was actually helped. The dermatologist told me that I didn't need to be so aggressive with skin care. Just wash gently and use the Retin A. I will forever be thankful for that.

Love these tips so much, however I do have a sensitive topic question…
So, I’ve never met any woman who only used warm water to cleanse their vulva. 🤷🏻‍♀️ To me, that sounds like a rinse & not an actual cleanse. Could this be why so many women are self conscious of their natural scent, because they’re rinsing & not using a gentle cleanser?
The vagina is self cleansing, but the vulva is not and it consists of sweat glands, hair that can retain order, labia folds, & so on. I’m just curious about why cleansing is not the base line recommendation.
Thank you! I love your educational videos so much & appreciate all this free information from a certified derm. 🫶🏼

IPL for brown spots worked to remove my brown spots but also resulted in facial hair growth everywhere, including my entire forehead. The plastic surgeon who performed the IPL told me that the heat and light from IPL can, in some cases, cause unwanted hair growth, especially in Hispanics. I then had to spend thousands to have the hair removed with a different laser. I was not warned beforehand that this could be a side effect of IPL.

The problem I have is that if I use the recommended amount, my face is greasy. Even if I use less, my face will shine sooner than it would if I hadn’t put it on. Not a proponent of DIY skincare but while leaving in various parts of Asia, I learnt to do a mask with finely milled rice flour + a pinch or turmeric + a bit of yogurt + a bit of honey. apply let it dry slightly and wash off in a gentle exfoliating motion. Even with rosacea and psoriasis, my skin loves it and feels so soft and refreshed. It actually really helps my psoriasis flare ups. My understanding is that Turmeric and honey help with inflammation and the lactic acid in yogurt or kefir is mildly exfoliation while helping replenish good bacteria on the skin.

Hydrocolloid patches have been used in a competitive bench (aka the control of the experiment.) In a clinical split face study of 49 subjects who had mild to moderate acne applied Hydrocolloid against acne lesions. The subjects used them for 11 days and it took them 6 days to see statistically significant difference. By the 11th day, %.6 of this group had recovered from their acne lesion. When you really think about it, 11 days is about average time that an acne lesion stays present for. I value this clinical because they tracked the mean diameter, the erythema score, and the mean lightness score. Conclusively, it appears that visually it might help but in terms of actually eliminating the breakout it seems unlikely. I believe people really enjoy them most because they like seeing that white build up on them after removing from skin vs how they an actually perform. It’s hard for me to believe that based on this information, hydrocolloid patches perform better than benzoyl peroxide used as a spot treatment which is a god sent for when I have a closed comedome.

I’m not a dermatologist but I’ve got similar rosacea and have been managing it for years. The best topical I’ve ever used is called Triple gel, by prescription, and has three active ingredients: azelaic acid, metronidazole, and ivermectin. Your derm can order it from a compounding pharmacy (I get mine by mail) and it’s $44 without insurance. That lasts me about 6 weeks. It will eliminate the red and white bumps and irritation that causes the redness. I used to get frustrated because my derm would give me samples of stuff that isn’t covered by insurance at all. Can’t spend $900 a tube! The Prequel cleanser, spray and moisturizer has worked well, too. Hope this helps!

One of the "worst" things that I did to my skin was wearing sunscreen but I didn't realize you needed to reapply it. I guess I through it was a one and done application.

if sunscreens are so unstable when mixing with anything, how can we be sure, the skincare and makeup we wear on the same day don't affect it?

I have ankolosing spondylitis late stages where i have tones of bone spurs in and on my spine as well as bone growth that has improperly fuzzed so.e vertebrae together, along with epidural lipomatosis, and cervical stenosis as well as lumber spinal stenosis...AND I NEED TO SLEEP WITH A HEATING PAD MOST NIGHTS!!! I keep it on the lowest of the 4 settings and it does turn off after 2 hours but i then turn it back on, i never sleep more than 3 hours solid because of the chronic pain so end up turning it back on multiple times. Luckily no rash and no burns

Honestly Dr Sam, some of the best advice I’ve ever heard from you is to get rid of your magnifying mirrors because they do not reflect how close people are to your face normally, and if they are that close that they might be so excited that they aren’t even concerned about your skin!😂❤

Oof yeah, I used St. Ives too. 😓
As for DIY - I used plain yogurt on my face…. But I also used lemon juice and/or hydrogen peroxide on my hair to “highlight” it. 😬😑
