    I just found your videos and they are so helpful! I have been growing house plants for many years. A few weeks ago I picked up my first Hoya. Then I bought another. This video has been so helpful. I bought a few ladder trellis that are 16” tall. I think I will order the bigger size since one of the Hoya I have is a Macrophylla variegated. There are 3 plants in the pot and after watching this video I realized how large this plant could get. Again, thank you for all the great information. I have been looking at all the different Hoya on your website. This could turn into an addiction! 😂

    I watched your trellis video, episode 1 when i have only 2 hoyas to try....and they are successful in their growth and both flowered in 13 months from they were very tiny...thanks to being trellised with all the knowledge you gave us...and now guess what? I have 20 hoyas total, maybe close to 30 including doubles or triples...too bad youre too far from Toronto Canada...i would like to visit your greenhouse in person...is it even open to the public? I like to buy in person and not import so i frequent plant nurseries here in my community...thank you again, i hope to see more videos from you its been over 8 months since that time i saw your last one...maybe talk about caring for hoyas without grow lights, cabinet or tents which is becoming the trend ...i only grow my hoyas next to my windows, spring summer and fall are great, but i still dont move them away from the windows during our long winter months from December to March which can be minus10 to minus 20 Celsius which is harsh to my hoyas...but i find that they have acclimitize to our cold winter...just very little watering so they dont freeze and hold off fertilizer as they seem to be dormant or resting so i give them time to not do much work...but as soon as April comes, I start to water more and give half strenght water soluble fertilizer every 2 wks for 3 months, then reduce to once monthly till November...boy oh boy i can see they just grow so fast being awaken from their slumber....im just very vigilant about pests, checking under the leaves, nooks and cranies ...prevention is better than cure philisophy ...im a retired nurse so i learned that from my profession...

    So much great information. I learned so much thank you! Question......if my hoya has a ton of runners and those runners don't feel secure enough to grow leaves but I want it to be a hanging hoya how do I get around that issue?

    • @unsolicitedplanttalks
      @unsolicitedplanttalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Elizabeth, that's a tough one. If the vines are long enough, you can loop it back temporarily and secure it to the hanger of the pot. Once it starts growing leaves and it is mature enough, you can let it hang. (At least that's what I would try)

  • @AnnasViolets
    @AnnasViolets 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! Great plants! i noticed that the tendrils of some of my hoyas dried off because I didn't use any trellis earlier. I wonder if these clips can damage the stems, as they embrace the trellis so tight there is no place for the stems to grow, they may be squeezed and damaged, no? I try not to use them

    • @unsolicitedplanttalks
      @unsolicitedplanttalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it can damage them if used on a soft stem (newest growth/stem). We use the clips on areas where the stems are a bit harder already so the new growths are not affected. We only us 1-3 clips throughout the plant whether big or small to prevent too much constrictions. We move the clips around as the plant grows 🥰
      I hope this helps!

  • @marymiller5824
    @marymiller5824 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if you HAVe wrapped the vines too tight (in the beginning of my plant journey) But the plant is really huge, about 3 feet, beautiful big leaves??? should I try to take the clips out and losen the vines? Uugh! I’m so afraid it’s gonna die at some point. Hope this wasn’t confusing! It’s a pubicalyx splash. Actually, you just showed exactly what has happened to mine, with the extra shoots 😂 So that must be why it looks so beautiful! I’m just afraid unwrapped and looped too tight on some
    areas! The plastic little clips are the best!

    • @unsolicitedplanttalks
      @unsolicitedplanttalks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to undo them ☺️ just let them do their thing when they continue to grow and twist them the right direction. They’re very forgiving and that’s why I love them 💚
