This video just changed my life. I made two of these trellises this morning and I will be making several more in the spring when I do a bunch of repotting. I already had a big roll of the wire leftover from a different project anyway. This is awesome.
Hi Betsy! This was a great tutorial for making a DYI trellis. You explained everything so well that I'm pretty sure that I can do this! LOL! I just need to get the PVC-coated fence/mesh. I have some similar velcro for plants and really like it. I like how it is just one piece and linked together with it's own wire. I'd been trying to figure out how to make something like this, but I was way over-thinking it. Thank you so much for sharing!
Be careful for mealy bugs that love to hide inside of stuff like that. 😅 That's why I like the Velcro strips. You can detach them and check for mealies.
Thanks, Betsy for a very informative and easy to follow DIY trellis video! Can’t wait to pick up some “rabbit fence” and get started.....Good tips of putting the actual Hoya on the trellis too! 😘
@@betsybegonia Oh that’s hysterical! Love your sense of humour! We call it “rabbit fence” here, because used in gardens to theoretically keep rabbits from munching on food crops, although the rabbits often outwit the fences....Wrascally Wrabbits!
Thank you for making this for us. I went to Miro (Basie plants the first time I heard you share him with us!! He’s as fun and adorable as you are!!! I subscribed to you both right away 👏🏼
Thanks for the vid!!! I've been searching for these trellises since watching the Swedish woman with 400+ Hoyas (Summer Rayne). Just ordered the fencing via your link.
When you bounced the empty pot and trellis around LMAO! Thanks for this idea, I just got my first hoya and instantly took it off it's circular trellis because I didn't like the look. But maybe I'll try this instead, to make it look more natural!
I understand your excitement over AH074 silver, I purchased one a few months ago, they are gorgeous. Rather than Velcro May I suggest orchid clips? They work wonderful for me. Loved your trellis video, first time watching.
@@betsybegonia Someday it will happen that I reasonably go to bed at 10 PM and have my 7 hours in land of dreams haha. Until then my physis takes its sleep that it needs 😂
I just discovered your channel and I love it! You're really funny and quirky haha 🌸 I also love begonias, but I have had such trouble keeping mine alive as my local environment makes it more difficult (superrr dry air, verrry hard water). Eventually I'd like to try to build an Ikea-greenhouse thing when I have money, and would like to fill it with beautiful begonias. I also have a hoya that is on its last leg 😭 I think I'm prone to over-watering it; I think it just does not use as much water as my other plants so I've had trouble keeping the balance. It lost its new growth and other stems... It is now a single leaf clinging on to life 😭 I'm trying very hard to maintain the moisture levels; the plant wasn't cheap, like almost $20!
Hey, sleepy, I had trouble with Rex begonias in my dry (northern Nevada, USA) climate. I don’t use a humidifier in my home. Try cane begonias! Try a “lucerna”. If in USA you can order it from Steve’s Leaves, they have lots of cane begonias to choose from once you find cane type work for you. Also, use reverse osmosis water or distilled water. I have luck with hoyas here, but only water when dry. Good luck with your plants!
@@lleo9703 Hi, Leo! I appreciate you commenting! :) I will definitely look into your tips and check out the cane begonias. At least now I'm developing a better intuition and understanding of how plants work 😅
😂 I love these hoodies, I live in them. Today is the first time I didn't put on something different for a video. I assure you I climb right back into these after filming.

I just started making trellis like this after watching Doug Chamerlain’s trellis video. You did a great job explaining the process too!

This was super helpful, especially discussing where to start winding the plant and cutting the width of the Velcro. 👍🏾
I'm glad to hear that! Thanks for the feedback.
I'm so glad you made a video on this! I've been trying to find some videos for ages! :)
It's super easy! 😁
Wow! I usually let my vining plants hang but this is so fun! I’ll have to try making a trellis and letting it grow up!
You're so awesome! I was just in the mood for one of your videos, and didn't even know it!

I suggest keeping rabbits away from your Hoyas, the fence won't keep them out.

I ordered the fencing after watching Miro's video lol Your instructions are so helpful! I can't wait to start making some 😊
I've recently been getting into hoyas and actually just bought a hoya wayetii today so this video is perfect timing lol
