I buy hoyas to suit the conditions in my home, so small and medium leaves. I love the Carnosa hoyas. Have have a lovely Retusa, cheap and cheerful, it thrives in my home. I can understand folks who see all your wonderful hoyas, and taking water over their heads. Miro, your advise is worth listening to before you buy a hoya. Hoya of the month serves that purpose for info on the pros and cons of different types of hoyas
It makes sense that caudata could be seen as a dupe for undulata; I have several caudata and was wondering why I was drawn to them. Now it makes sense! I have wanted an undulata for forever and was trying to fill a need. 😅
I mean, a lot of people who dislike undulata would probably tell you it is a better choice :D Some features are missing for sure, but I think it is a good overall vibe :)
I enjoy watching your videos and your plants are all very beautiful! You mentioned moving away from pon and that there are some issues you are having with it. I would love to know why and what issues you are having?
I feel your pain. I have anxiety as well there are times I rather stay home with my 2 beautiful furbabies cats Prince and Princess Sapphire. My crimson Queen grew like wildfire since I made the change to the light after watching your video.
Great video! I was wondering how did you use pon in a self-watering pot with a wick? I use pon, but can’t figure out how to get that wick through the mesh that I use to keep the pon from falling out…maybe you use a special type of pot? Right now, I don’t have drainage but looking to change that. Thank you
You have lovely hoyas as usual and it was very interesting to see your suggestions. Of course, Hoya Clemensiorum is an ultimate goal, but as long as I'm still struggling with Callistophylla and Peninsularis I'm not even touching the Clemensiorum with a 10 foot pole. Way too expensive to just casually kill on the side 😶 But a girl can drool... Meanwhile I have Hoya Erythrina thriving on the balcony and she is preparing buds. I am super excited and I am sure you're wrong about her flowers not being too impressive. Even you can't know everything 😏
I'd say clemensiorum is easier than peninsularis and definitely easier than callistophylla. Hoya callistophylla clones I had have all been really nasty to grow. Haha, maybe you will like the flowers of erythrina. :D I just think they are a bit small :)
Wonderful Sunday afternoon session….nothing nicer than a cup of tea, feet up and learn more about the Hoya world….or better said universe as this species never seems to stop expanding. 🤹🏼♀️🌺💫
Was it the summer? Was it the already-established plants' vibes? All the new Hoyas (about 7 of them - nothing near your Villa Hoya) are going crazy with growth. There is a Hoya leaf today which is a chocolate/olive colour - impossible, but there it is!
Love your new haircut ❤❤❤ also I hope your undulata will deliver her flowers for you this time and start to flower constantly. Wish you All the best ❤❤❤. Take care of yourself ❤️❤️❤️
Very clever! I absolutely love my Hoya Caudata Sumatra! It's beautiful and finally growing like crazy! What more could I want!! Lol Dang those fungus gnats coming in on soil! I've almost got all of mine gone! Lol
Great video, Miro! I have hoya Nabawanensis var and walliniana they are really alike. Variegated heuschkeliana had reverted on me once :D I also think Lata Iskandar can be dupe for clemensiorum? They're both in my wishlist 🤩
Oh really? So interesting to hear it reverted on you. I have never heard of that happening :D I guess anything is possible. And yes - you are right! Hoya peninsularis (formerly sp. Lata Iskandar) is definitely close to clemensiorum. I could have included that one too as I have it :)
My new Big Beautiful Crimson Queen got root rot and since I’ve never dealt with this I lost most of the plant. It had yellowing dying leaves since I bought it so I know now what to watch for and how to deal w it. It was my first Hoya I bought last month. So sad
Fantastic video Miro!! Thank you so much! I’m considering some of the dupes you mentioned and I think you did a fantastic job with your logic and insight behind each. Thanks for sharing 🪴💚🪴💚 adding to my list🤣🤣
I don‘t understand the whole concept of duping _H. undulata (wavy leaves)_ in the first place. The only replacement for it is a splashier one… or maybe the clone with less wavy leaves…. wait, what am I talking about. You cant replace something with something else you need to own both of… 😂🤣 Not really comparable to your clemens, IML 0905 is on the same level of satisfaction it gives, but in a completely different game. (You need GPS 7020 and NAP 01 as well.)
Oh I am not impressed so much with undulata anymore. I am not in love with the atitude at all. There are many more grateful species out there :D I even think mitrata is a good replacement even though it does not have undulate leaves. And versteegii might even be better. :D I have seen GPS7020, not fully convinced. NAP01 - I have seen couple of plants go under that name, some looked like sulawesiana. I will definitely have to look into it.
@@BasiePlants of course, I can understand your feelings towards H. undulata. It is a little b*****. I killed mine, except for a little node, and am hopefully regrowing it from there. There are easier Hoyas to hoard, but I like the ones, that are a little bit more difficult. They teach me more. 🤣 I think Rics NAP 01 is the real one. GPS7020 underside of the leaves! The veins look like there is real blood in them.
I know what you mean, but it is like you want to eat pasta, and instead of it, you eat noodles😅😅😅. Clemen, ondulata, Tangammus... are so so so special..
Another suggestion: get a bunch of pairs of tweezers, glue them together into a sculpture, and it'll look a lot like Hoya retusa from across a room.
I knew this was coming sooner or later 😂
What, wait, retusas are not made like that?
@@_hazplants Pile of tweezers and a wish upon a star, yeah.
tooth picks would he cheaper
Another great dupe for Hoya undulata: a pile of dried out, sun-cooked lizards. 💀
LMAO okay this one I was not expecting.
😂😂😂😂

Thanks would love to see a part 2 of Hoya Dups.
I think it could be fun! We need more hoyas :D
Love this idea!!
@@BasiePlants We're waiting for a second part :P
@@misterplantastic yeah… about that…
I am continually amazed at the variety of hoya and how different they are. Every one is beautiful.
I think that as well :)
Amazing plants!! Fascinating/ Charming / Unique individuals/ and Beautiful ❤❤
My Hoya wish list just increased.
Ooops. :D
definately want more dupes
Thank you for this video. Although curse you for showing me more Hoya i may have to track down.😂
Hahaha sorry! :D
I could listen to you talk about Hoyas for hours. Great video
Thank you! Nice video as always.
OH. My favorite is the Hoya sp. Tam Dao. Fascinating!!
Good thing that there is no need to dupe for Miro but a clone could mean even more frequent hoya videos😅.
Love the choices. Also Retusa is so easy to root in Moss in a prop box. Great video.
totally agree that there’s no true dupe for clemensiorum! bring on part two 👍
Haha :D Especially for this clone! :)

The "cabbage" look is what makes me not like undulata. The texture, size of leaves, color and flower is gorgeous.
I think the Caudata is prettier
Awesome video, as usual, wondering where you get your self watering pots from?
Awwwww!! I feel your love and care for us, Miro!! What an epic Fabuloso video with wonderful Hoya alternatives! Kiitos paljon!🙏🏽😘🌸💖
I am glad you liked it :)
😘@@BasiePlants
Bought both Walliniana variegated and Lacunosa variegated... melted the Lacunosa 😢
Thank you Nero, great advice. Looking into them right now! 💚😎💚
I hope you can find some cool ones :D I definitely recommend walliniana :)
@@BasiePlants 😀 same

I'd kill for a video on how to make those trellis you have. I'm hopeless with DIY stuff!
It is coming :D

Oh no! I am sorry to hear that. It takes some practice in the beginning. Did you manage to take some cuttings?
Aww sorry you had that issue right away but trust me that first Hoya is something you will look back on fondly.
@@BasiePlants yes about 1/4 so a good start. I just wish it was a plant I didn’t care for as much

may I ask, do you think that Hoya meredithii and vitellinoides are the same?
Some say they are, I am not so sure. I have not looked into the type sheets, to me they look different, but I will have to get back to you on that :)
A Treubiana might dupe an Excavata and vice versa. A Pachyclada might dupe an Obovata, from a distance!!
Indeed! And then some people always confuse H.australis with carnosa too.
