    That Eclipse in the beginning with the nice seats should be the bus they use more often on this route! Most suitable one out of the roulette of buses they belt out on this service, with its ZF gearbox, comfy high-backed seating and modern design!

    Nice to see one of my favourite darts enjoying further use out in the country! Some of its sisters still soldier on down here with Damory and Southern Vectis. (Who she was new to). Could tell it was one of ours by the seating before the reg lol.

      Ah well the HW54 at Hulleys is certainly a survivor and real oddball in the fleet I must say!

    This was a nice video and I like the views, through the countryside. I liked both buses on this route.
    The MPD did well on this route but I personally think this should be an all volvo route. Pity hullys didn't standardised the fleet with more b7s.

      Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it! I do agree, once passenger numbers can afford it, to standardise a fleet of vehicles on the route both from a customer prospective and for the purpose that the B7RLE has much more power on the hills

    Personally, I don't think Darts are good for this route. They should order more Double Decker vehicles and turn them into pink branded for the snake with E-leather seating. Probably Enviro 400s will do the trick.

    • @AndMoreCentral
      @AndMoreCentral  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The issue is the service doesn't have enough passengers to allow double deckers to be used yet, plus there is a slight high wind problem at the top of the Snake Pass. The dart did okay to be fair though it did struggle on some hills

    • @AymanTravelTransport

      @@AndMoreCentral maybe a new single decker with all them bells and whistles; issue is the ability of such a small company being able to afford such luxury!

      @@euanboard6417 the problem is these newer buses always lean to smaller wheel like 19's & 17.5's (small wheels like the darts, mmc's have ect) due to slightly quicker acceleration but arnt suited to these long high speed runs, the likes of volvo & scania chassis are more suited to them so like a new mcv b8 or like a older scania omnicity ect would be suited alot better... a new mmc or streetlight wouldnt cope on this route for long

      @@ItzChaza That does play a part but generally speaking the more modern stuff is built to a poorer standard. E.g. a dart will perform better than its euro6 equivalent - i.e. enviro 200mmc

    while I do like the route/concept of the X57 by hulley's, I am quite disappointed with the buses used on this route, along with the timetabling. I believe the timetables isn't very competitive considering national rail have a timetable of 3 trains an hour Manchester - sheffield, for example sometimes there is a 2 hour wait between services, in a ideal non pandemic world for a service like this, every 30 minutes would be good. The fleet used on this service is mixed, while some of the buses are good and powerful, it's not very standardised and once I got a enviro 200 with urban 90 seats, considering it's meant to be a intercity service, I do not believe the allocation was appropriate and would wish for a slightly news, more luxurious buses for a long trip, look at transdev or trentbarton for inspiration. Finally the prices, personally I believe they're on the higher end of reasonable, slightly competitive there.
    Let me know what you think

    • @AndMoreCentral
      @AndMoreCentral  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Aye well a lot of it is to do with the current loadings like that MPD dart we had back was due to the last run been quiet as it was fully empty from Manchester to the top of the Snake Pass however I don't agree with buses with Urban 90 seats operating this service. On the timetable side its not really meant as a regular service in competition with the trains but a cheaper and more unique way to travel across. With its route, passenger loadings and time its takes end to end it'd be pointless having it too frequent however I must say an every 90/120 minute regular service in the morning would be better than the random departures from 6am, 7am then 9:30am that I feel missed an opportunity to gain extra custom for daytrippers

    • @transportmanchester3299
      @transportmanchester3299 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndMoreCentral I feel like they've put more emphasis on the time it runs than how frequent it runs and whats run on it. It's good if you want to have a walk in the pennines, not so good if you want to go to sheffield for the day and not be overly restricted by the time table.

    • @AymanTravelTransport
      @AymanTravelTransport 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AndMoreCentral (1) Hulleys of Baslow are a much smaller company than even High Peak, so they probably can't really afford nice fancy buses like Transdev / TrentBarton and (2) the route isn't made for end-to-end travel; it's more geared towards the providing remote communities across Snake Pass a link to either city, as well as a direct link from Glossop to Sheffield, especially when the train isn't that much more anyway - you can easily get 2 advanced singles (booked as close as the day before travel) for a total of £11 for a Northern-only round trip (only a quid more than the bus) between Manchester and Sheffield and even that 'slow' train alone is still quicker than the X57 (even more so given it avoids traffic), twice as frequent and has a wider operating time throughout the day so there's not much point in saving the quid in that case (this is undiscounted fares without railcard)
