    If drones were silent as Mini3 from the first generation, flying in the national parks would not been prohibited. The noisy drone let birds abundant their nests. That's the major reason

    • @albertopartida2210
      @albertopartida2210 ปีที่แล้ว

      its not only for the nests, the big birds get their legs injured trying to hunt drones and the batteries of crashed drones could represent a thread for the environment due to its toxicity. IT'S OBVIOUS, AS A BIG DRON FAN I'LL JUST SAY THAT THE FIRST RULE IS TO USE THE BRAIN.

    The only reason I wouldn't make a switch is stability.
    I shot a wedding with a photographer who bought a mini 3 along, it was a windy day and holy sheet - the mini 3 was a mess. The footage from it was completely unusable and I was sure the wind was going to take it into a tree. The Air 2 on the other hand was decent and the footage perfectly usable.

    • @StianTorp
      @StianTorp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally get it. It is a bit scary in strong winds, and it is a small drone, so the wind could blow it away if it is strong enough. However, I do think it manage to be pretty stable in windy weathers..

    • @halo-halo9244
      @halo-halo9244 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just out of curiosity, I know the mini 3 is lighter and better to use when you travel to countries where they have a very strict rules about drone weights, do you think it's possible to maybe create a weight (like 200g) that you can attach to the body the drone which you can use on windy places? I see youtubers attaching/mounting a gopro on a DJI Avata it the drone can still fly and I would say it's perfect for windy environments (more weight = less shake). What do you guys think? 🤔

    The minis are fine as long as you don’t live somewhere where it is constantly windy. If you do, your battery will drain faster just fighting the wind. I prefer the Air 2S because it is more stable, and this year, I upgraded the controller to the RC Pro, because it is super bright at 1000 nits, plus you can load more apps on it, since it is an Android device. You don’t need to hot spot your phone to get the maps. I really don’t need the maps, especially now that you have to keep your drone within line of sight. DJI needs to come out with another 1000 nit controller that works with the newer drones.

    Gotta admit Im not crazy about the sticks on top of the screen.
    and these 1080p feeds that you get with modern DJI drones like Air2/S (30fps) and Mavic3 (60fps) just looks so good, that IMO you need a bigger screen then a 5.5" like this controller or a mobile screen.
    Its so crucial to sense the light that the sensor sees and adjusting accordingly, and we all know that feeling of getting home putting your SD card up on your big screen fx OLED TV and, it's "dang, why didn't I adjust for that" like that overexposure..5:28
    My main screen is a 1600p OLED 10.5" - Samsung Tab S5e LTE.. it's so thin 5.5mm 397g and you got all the tools to adjust windows with DeX on the unit.
    and after the shot.. you can watch it, on its screen where you can actually sense the quality as the screen is so good.
    The brightness peaks at a tad over 910nits, but that is only on sunburst mode and not sustained.. sustained its is more like 550 to 600nits... but it's OLED and that goes a long way, to have that inf contrast and not get that LCD layered blooming..
    What Im more curious about its the so-called backed in HDR in Mini3.
    its still that old relative useless rec709 4.2.0 and even in Cinelike where you have ability for 10bit.. it would reckon its still only 8bit colors.. rec709, so mehh..
    DJI should up their game, and get up to scratch with rec2020 as we have so many displays that can take advantage of actual HDR.. even here on YT.. we have seen consumer mobiles for many years, even Iphones,, like since Iphone7 recording in Rec2020
    You should do a test between the Air2 so-called "HDR-mode" and Mini3 with its Backed-in HDR with a direct sunset.
    The Air2 so-called "HDR mode" has been one of the most impressive things with that drone.. was surprisingly potent.
    Air2S is not even close to handling highs & lows as good as Air2 on a difficult task like a direct sunset.

    • @StianTorp
      @StianTorp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! A lot of good points here. I am no expert in this, but I like the mini 3 pro better than air 2 because of the size and controller. When it comes to image quality, I can see that it is blown out some times, as you saw in this video, and thats why I put the footage in the video, for peoples to see.
      The sunset shot would be cool to try out. I have to borrow an air 2 and go out shoot one night. Thanks👍

    About the controller issue everyone talks about, it is literally popping it onto bracket and connecting a wire. For the RC you have to enable hotspot on your cell phone, open settings on RC, go to wifi, find your phone and connect (since it doesn’t save your network and does not automatically connect to the hotspot). I timed it at 40 seconds on the N1 vs 1:23 on the RC.

    The DJI Mini 3 Pro RC is the most overhyped tech item I've ever bought.
    1. Screen brightness really isn't high enough in sunshine, only 700 nits, and the screen turns almost black in broad daylight.
    2. The screen isn't larger than my
    old Samsung S9.
    3. The screen recording resolution is terrible, and has improved only a little with the latest firmware.
    4. No maps unless you connect to your phone's hot spot. And that means that you're not able to update the home point if you're moving during flight. Which can be a disaster.
    5. You can't download videos or images to the RC from the aircraft.
    And really, you claim that you can fly 34 minutes IRL with the standard battery? The average is about 25 minutes...

    • @SkyWalker-wj9bq
      @SkyWalker-wj9bq 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that new RC is not great. It takes a while to boot it. No potential to work with Litch. Sticks are too sensitive. But if you fly without recording, the flight time is 30min or longer. DJI does not lie.

      You do not bother me at all.. If you look at my latest video, I am testing it at bit on a windy day. It is a smaller drone, so it will be more unstable in high winds than the heavier drones. But, I think the drone is doing a fantastic job in the wind when I look at the footage.

    Having to use the phone when flying is just a pain, and that is also why I doesn't always put up my drone in the air. But also with the phone you will have the map so it is easier to find the drone if you lose it.
    I love my Mini 2 and will stick to it still, and just because they weight under 250 grams we doesn't have to think so much about people when out flying.
    Air 2 is really good, in strong wind it is the only drone of those 2 you could safely put up in air.

    I know this is a late response to this TH-cam but I just saw it today. I proudly own both of these drones and can honestly say that both offer some abilities that the other does not! I will briefly say for Pros of the Air 2, I can still fly with my goggles and do flight plans with my Maven app. You cannot do that with the Mini 3 Pro. The Air 2 is louder but it also has more power that gives me confidence in high wind, more so than the Mini 3 Pro. The Mini 3 Pro is quieter and has a better camera but you cannot use 3rd party apps with it yet and they have placed a lot of those old capabilities on the Mini 4 Pro that I have been using with the Air 2 for almost 5 years, i.e. Home location, flight plans, FPV with goggles! Try that on the Mini 3 Pro! Not there! Again, I love both of these drones and the video quality is not all that far apart in daylight. Color-grading can bring the two really close if you know what you are doing. I also enjoy my Autel Nano Plus but it is lightweight and I do not trust it in high wind! Thanks for sharing.
