For Fly More combo + DJI Care Refresh + Taxes you are paying ~$400 more for the A2S vs MA2. For those that need (or just want) that professional camera the A2S is probably worth the price differential for the Fly More combo. DJI bumped the Fly More Combo differential to $300 vs $189 for MA2 Fly More Combo....but you do get 1 extra ND filter with the A2S Fly More Combo for that extra $111 price delta. Hope it's a really good ND filter. Also the CareRefresh is $20 more for the A2S...and obviously taxes are higher for the A2S. I'm jussayin keep that in mind when you are making that decision and looking at the Fly More combo with CareRefresh. Also keep in mind that the CareRefresh Replacement costs are higher for the A2S vs MA2: 1st Replacement: A2S ($119) vs MA2 ($69) 2nd Replacement : A2S ($149) vs MA2 ($99) Fly away: A2S ($499) vs MA2 ($399)
Great comparison video Billy. I would suggest that the Air 2S is a better upgrade for a person coming from a Mavic Mini or Mini 2 opposed to a Mavic Air 2. I think the Air 2S is a better proposition than the Mavic 2 Pro at this juncture in time.
The fact that the Air 2S is being closely likened to the Mavic 2 Pro than the Air 2 says a lot about the improvements they did on this drone! It's that good an upgrade
This is a slap in the face to the EVO II drone. I have been on the fence about buying my 1st drone but this 2S has the camera I want at a lot less than the EVO II. The batteries for this drone are 50% less than the EVO II. This is perfectly positioned price wise for me and I can still afford an iPad mini!!! win!
I've been using the Air 2 and Air 2S. Regarding the Air 2S, you can't shut off the downward sensors to land in hand, and I don't want to put tape over the sensors. Switching to sport mode doesn't fix the problem. Now we have to mess with focus on the Air 2S. The focus should be fixed like Air 2, and most other drones. Air 2S is much noisier than Air 2--loud even at 1000 feet. Everyone knows there's a drone in the air but that wasn't the case with Air 2. Finally, the Air 2 is cheaper and flies longer. So it's not as simple as many of these videos suggest.
Also take into consideration that a 1 inch sensor is better in low light conditions and therefor your video and images will have a lot less grain in them which to me is a game changer.
Fully agree with all your comments.. my biggest annoyance as a Air2 owner is they upgraded too early i feel.. I bought an Air2 in June20, it came out only a few months earlier? A little bit annoying that it’s now out of date after a year!! Thanks DJI, not happy as everyone goes for the newest model, and certainly don’t expect a facelift in a year of a new drone ?? 👎 My thoughts, but your video is spot on!
I am buying right now and the Mav 2 is now $500 less than the Air 2 S. Would you still buy the Air 2 S fly more for $1299 over the Mav 2 flymore at $789?
such a modest, incremental, insignificant and cosmetic changes. with each generation of drone release, obviously as you except, there are some changes, but the huge drop in sales of these drones, just comes to prove how tiny, slow and incremental those changes are. Unfortunately, as I believe the technology is there, it just that, for commercial reasons, DJI (and others) want to squeeze a few more generations of drone "upgrades" purchase from us...and obviously the public is not stupid, so they just stick with the drone they already have, and wait 4-5 generations. before the combined upgrade is significant enough to commit to invest.
This guy is a paid influencer. There is not enough difference other than the 1” sensor, which basically gives you better “off the card” or ready for social media posts. Plus, with a fixed aperture, DJI intentionally crippled the full functionality of the 1” sensor. If you are already a MA2 owner, wait for the A3. If it’s your first drone, switching from a different manufacturer, or upgrading from the Mini 1 or 2, it makes perfect sense. Personally, I’m waiting for the M3P.

Love my MA2, but super jonzed that this new one came out with better options, especially the 1" camera! Oh well, been enjoying the Air 2 for a year, great tool nonetheless.
The air 2 looks a bit like a mobile camera especially in low light but I know it isn't but if it was it would have to be a good one due to its crushed blacks in Windows of buildings and lack of detail and grain in dark areas (which is the sensor) I've bought the air 2s but if you don't want to spend the extra money then go for the air 2, but if you want to do more things low light I would recommend the air 2s.
The only thing stopping me from buying the air 2S is the fact that it is no longer compatible with the goggles V2 when the Drone first came out it said it was getting an update to make them compatible now that has changed when it's compatible with the goggles is when I will buy it
Great job Billy! Your video is as good as any as I've seen on YT :) There is a lot of confusion about the 48 Mp sensor. I compared it to my Nikon D850 (46 Mp) and the luminance resolution is similar. Of course you have the feed the 1/2 sensor a lot of light to make similar photos. So I agree with you on the selection of the A2s over the A2 in every category. Again, good job!
Thenk you for this video, and for the demo pics and videos to compare the two drones. I fly a DJI Spark right now, but am looking at either of these two....leaning towards the A2S.
The Air 2S is nice upgrade over the previous model. But if your on a tight budget it's probably not a 'must upgrade' option. Great video breaking down the differences between these two great drones. Thanks for sharing.
I originally purchased the Air 2 for my first drone because of the price break with the Air 2S. I was hooked! Purchased the Mini 3 Pro and the differences put me over the edge. Just purchased the Air 2S from a friend and could not have done any better. The Air 2s with it's features will be my go-to when I don't feel comfortable putting up the Mini 3. But I'll keep the Air 2 for times when my adult kids what to learn to fly! Thanks Billy! JoeT
I can only fly about a mile away in my neighborhood with my Mavic Air 2, but with clear line of site I've flown maybe two miles or so away with good transmission. But you said Ocusync 3 changed the way you fly...over the Air 2/Ocusync 2? I did have a similar experience comparing my Mavic Air 2 over my older Mavic Mini, but just how far away are you flying I wonder.... I would definitely pay the extra money for the 2s if buying new, no question. But if I had a Mavic Air 2 already and $2K I might instead choose a Skydio 2 or something a little different. I'd really like the drones be a lot smaller and quieter, but with the same features. And I'd like to see the Autonomous Flight Apps mature: Dronelink (supports Mavic Air 2) Maven (supports Mavic Air 2) Litchi (more popular, but doesn't support Mavic Air 2) Thanks for another great video Billy Kyle.
Just sent my air 2 into a pond and the gimbal no longer works... if I buy a 2s without any accessories I should be able to use my old controller right?
"...is it really worth the upgrade?...I can't give you the answer". WHAAAT?? Then this.."to me the camera and transmission system make it worth it 10X over". Come'on man! This is why we watch your video's Billy!!! So you do recommend it!!
What i did is basically bought a dji air 2 fly more combo without the drone or the controller and then bought a dji air 2s drone and the controller for like 450 dollars from a random guy on ebay and i love it ever since i bought it one year ago
Another Great video. However, There many DJI drone owners that are looking to upgrade to the DJI Air2S that would like to know if their investment in the DJI Smart controller/Crystal Sky tablet/DJI Goggles are compatible with Air 2S. Your video would have been much more informative if you had included this information in your video. Thank You, Big Fan!
I just ordered the Air2s fly more ..I chose it over the autel evo lite plus and mavic 3 because I felt the autel has to many bugs right now and the mavic 3 is just to expensive especially for the fly more package..I feel if the air2s had a 40 minute battery it would be the top drone on the market…anyway I can’t wait for it to show up
Think your saying the Air2s camera is better but you won’t notice the difference on TH-cam due to the compression? I’ll stick with my Air2 until DJI release the classified drones in a year or so.
we have to remember that this is DJI .. they make the 2 products, never had any signal strength problems with my mavic air 2, the quality is great, HDR video and photo is awesome. if you dont have the mavic air 2 and want to buy a drone then yes, go for the mavic air 2s. DJI knows that....we mavic air 2 owners are really wating for the mavic 3 pro.
I have been looking for a replacement for my two P4's for some time. I was very disappointed with the P4 Pro. The videos were not as sharp, the colors washed out, the cameras were bigger and heavier and tended to wobble when the drone was going sideways, ruining my videos, and they had mechanical issues like compasses that would not stay calibrated, the things would slowly rotate in a circle and not stay pointing at what I was shooting, and antennas that would cut out every few seconds even when the drone was sitting right in front of me. I tried both version 1 and 2 of the P4 Pro and even the Advance model. Sold them all at a loss and kept the P4's. I tried the original Mini but that's practically a toy in comparison. It has a slew of issues. The controller is terrible. The sticks are stiff and hard to manipulate. Trying to make smooth turns while making other adjustments is like trying to draw a circle with an Etch-a-Sketch. Impossible. The range is also terrible. Fly over a tree and you immediately lose signal. There is no fan inside the drone and there is poor air circulation, so if you have your drone sitting on the ground waiting for an event to start it will overheat and display a multitude of warnings or just shut down. The compass never stays calibrated. Every time you move to another spot you have to do the calibration dance. I hear the Mini 2 fixes the range issue and has a better controller, but I'm looking for something better. I uploaded to TH-cam so even in 4k it's likely the camera quality improvement between the 2 and 2s won't make much difference. The problem I have with my P4 and mini are neither shoots 4k in 30fps. The mini doesn't even shoot 4k. So you get choppy video at 24fps on the P4. The mini 2 at least supports 4k 30fps I believe. The ONE thing that appeals to me to upgrade to the 2S is the greater range. I do a lot of flying out in the open, scenic videos. Range is VERY important to me. If the controller is smooth and the range is good and the video is at least 4k 30fps that's what I'm interested in.
The colors are sadly very washed out on the Air2s 8:06 but maybe thats a fluke personally I dont see a big jump from Air2 to Air2s and often prefer the footage of the Air2 but we also saw it with the MA2 pro.. that you could get some beautiful shots, but it was a handful and often a hit or miss and took more footage skills, also often a tad too soft.. but when there are low light situations, its no contest so if you fly at night or in a low lid environment.. sure.. I would not go for the Air2s with an Air2 in house, not least with an MA3 around the corner., The Air2 also I recall had a bigger sensor than Mavic 2 Zoom. try to blow it up on a 4K OLED fx 55" in YTs 2160p from 8:55 and see shots by shots.. out of the gate I gotta admit do prefer the Air2 shots, way more richness in the shots.. I do not dig that washed-out look on air2s.. sure the Air2s.. you can color-correct and adjust in post to your heart's desire but from a fly-by-wireless 4k60 and shot the Air2 is punching surprisingly high for its price. ..I recall I also preferred the Air2 over the Autel Evo 2. but maybe its me.. put the footage up on a 4K screen like an OLED TV and see this clip above.. definitely many shots that I prefer the Air2 at the skyscraper and the footage at the beach I prefer the Air2s.. though its the panorama stitching & bracketing where I have seen the Air2 really excel and deliver pictures that knock the normal 12mp or 48mp smart mode out of the water.. sadly can't link on YT as it is not politically correct..
The issue I have is that 3rd party software cannot work with this drone until DJI release the SDK kit which will allow 3rd party developers to increase the functionality of this drone. As an example DJI have only just released the SDK for the Mini2 and the Air 2s which is one year later! If dJI released the SDK earlier the issues could be addressed by 3rd party software developers, or at least as a combined effort between both parties.
I think I wait for Mavic 3 for big upgrade. air 2s is a great drone and if someone don't have a air 2 I recommended to get a air 2s.but if you have a air 2 in my opinion not worth it so much. and i never have a signal drop problem on my air 2 always rock solid even in far distance.
Hey Billy Great video! Do you think the Air 2 or the Air 2S is to complex for someone that has never flown a drone? Should I be looking at the Mini 2 instead? Thanks!
Complex? They use the same controller and have sensors all around. They are easier than the mini 2. I love my mini 2 but i have to be more careful than when I fly my P4 Pro+
Coming from the air 1 and now owning the air2, personally i did not think the refresh was worth it for me as i'm still just having a lot of fun with the air 2. Was tempted for the mini 3 pro but seeing how half the people are having range issues i will skip that little guy and wait for the air 3 or mini 4 pro. Or mavic 4 pro lol. Basically stick with what you got quit playing your not a real photographer blah blah blah so just go out there and just enjoy with what ya got. Learn to fly, learn to take great shots or video clips, learn to edit them and when the time comes after honing your skill then get something a bit higher quality.
I already have the Mavic 2 Pro and I wanted to have a back up drone , specially for traveling ...so I think I made the right decision to get the Air 2 S .Also , I don't have to wait for the Mavic 3 and also break my bank !! Hahahaha...:))))
If the DJI doesn't allow it to fly as long as Autel, I don't find it so interesting that they added a better camera, a better signal, but I don't know for sure and 2 sensors more, so interesting an drone. AIR 2 will last longer to fly and I'm happy with it for the long flight. DJI should change this and get closer to Autel II PRO
Couple of things better on the mavic air 2 Not all the specs of the Air 2S camera have been improved compared to its predecessor. The older Mavic Air 2 has better slow-motion capabilities at FULL HD resolution (1080p@240fps vs 1080p@120fps). - 3 minutes better flight time. - 48 megapixel still shots Air 2S doesn’t support 8K hyperlapse and Focus Track, but Air 2 supports 8K hyperlapse and Focus Track!Unlike Air 2s 20MP camera, the Mavic Air 2 48MP camera makes 8K Hyperlapse footage possible. In hyper-lapse mode, the quad takes a series of photos using the full 48MP sensor and automatically merges them together to produce the final 8K video. Madi And let's not forget something someone mentioned the air 2 has HDR that is second to none that is so good that when professional photographers have used it have said If you use it right you don't have to change anything in post-production.. or you could get away with not changing any color in post-production!! Simply amazing!!!
@@brokensword2621 yeah I think I wrote that somewhere else. And the HDR on the air 2 is really second to none when everyone tested it. It really is amazing some people say it's so good if you use it right you don't even have to do anything in post-production. Again just like Captain Drone said The Air 2S is a cash grab DJI trying to throw some stuff out there giving you a little bit trying to grab some money. All these guys get geeked up about it throwing their money at DJI as usual. Trying to justify losing all of their money lol. And then DJI will do it again next year and again and again in the keep dumping their money for no reason. NOT REALIZING IT REALLY DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE REAL WORLD.. IN OTHER WORDS THEY DON'T SEE THE FORCE FOR THE TREES THEY DON'T SEE WHAT MATTERS AND WHAT DOESN'T. ESPECIALLY FOR THE MONEY ;) But it's their money if they want to lose it and waste it oh well good for them 🤣
@@mariellerebours8050 Stick with the regular The regular air 2. 2S is just not worth it especially with the way social media compresses everything. Doesn't really matter in the real world and in tests no one could tell the difference and guess which was which.. Save your money get the Air 2 regular
Very good review, excellent, one question, the 2s, the drone have ocusync 3.0, with 4 antennas, but the controller is ocusync 2.0, how is the transmission better if both are not 3.0? Thanks.

I would definitely pay the extra money for the 2s if buying new, no question. But if I had a Mavic Air 2 already and $2K I might instead choose a Skydio 2 or something a little different. I'd really like the drones be a lot smaller and quieter, but with the same features. And I'd like to see the Autonomous Flight Apps mature:
Dronelink (supports Mavic Air 2)
Maven (supports Mavic Air 2)
Litchi (more popular, but doesn't support Mavic Air 2)
Thanks for another great video Billy Kyle.
Great video Bill. I love the Air2s , Mt son just bought the Mavic Air2. We are both very happy 😊
Just sent my air 2 into a pond and the gimbal no longer works... if I buy a 2s without any accessories I should be able to use my old controller right?
How'd it end up in the pond?
Yea
Great video! As a side note, my 1st and middle names are William Kyle... Billy Kyle
Incredible review!!!! Thank you so much!!
I bought my Air 2 on day 1 last year. Really tempted to upgrade to the A2S. I do a lot of low light shots that come out with a lot of noise
Hi Billy. Love from the Philippines. Can you compare night shots?
It was a nice comparison. Thanks
Just learning to fly drones! I plan on buying the Air 2S soon. Thanks for tge great video!!!!
I upgraded from mavic air 2 to mavic air 2 S. Thanks 😊
Never had a drone in my life :D but after this video: DJI Air 2S it is
Mavic Air2 is qualified for an additional 10% students discount now, this makes it a great value for money for new buyers.
What about 4K 60 crop?
Most people share their footage/pics from drone to social media. Unless you care to watch your own vids at home on your 4k screen then stick with MA2.
Great information as always 👍 I have both now, and I enjoy flying and the good pictures and videos 📹 😀
Well doing my friend nice simple informative
Air 2 has HDR video, A2S - not. Because of the different sensor types!
we have to remember that this is DJI .. they make the 2 products, never had any signal strength problems with my mavic air 2, the quality is great, HDR video and photo is awesome. if you dont have the mavic air 2 and want to buy a drone then yes, go for the mavic air 2s. DJI knows that....we mavic air 2 owners are really wating for the mavic 3 pro.
Thanks for all the info. Still cant believe it has no goggle support. Using goggles is such a better experience. No more screen flying for me.
Woah congrats on 100k subs dude. Great comparison vid.
The colors are sadly very washed out on the Air2s 8:06 but maybe thats a fluke
personally I dont see a big jump from Air2 to Air2s and often prefer the footage of the Air2
but we also saw it with the MA2 pro.. that you could get some beautiful shots, but it was a handful and often a hit or miss and took more footage skills, also often a tad too soft..
but when there are low light situations, its no contest so if you fly at night or in a low lid environment.. sure..
I would not go for the Air2s with an Air2 in house, not least with an MA3 around the corner.,
The Air2 also I recall had a bigger sensor than Mavic 2 Zoom.
try to blow it up on a 4K OLED fx 55" in YTs 2160p from 8:55 and see shots by shots.. out of the gate I gotta admit do prefer the Air2 shots, way more richness in the shots..
Thanks. Well done again.
Wow! Now I'm torn between the two. 😄
Thank you for the great information and advice
The improved tracking made the upgrade worth it for me.
I recently got the Dji air 2s and I’m loving it, it also has a great quality.
Nice job. Thanks.
spectacular review
I already have the Mavic 2 Pro and I wanted to have a back up drone , specially for traveling ...so I think I made the right decision to get the Air 2 S .Also , I don't have to wait for the Mavic 3 and also break my bank !! Hahahaha...:))))
Good video Billy
If the DJI doesn't allow it to fly as long as Autel, I don't find it so interesting that they added a better camera, a better signal, but I don't know for sure and 2 sensors more, so interesting an drone. AIR 2 will last longer to fly and I'm happy with it for the long flight. DJI should change this and get closer to Autel II PRO
I want to get the 2S to replace my IMU sick Mav Air 1: Should I get the 2S.... All the bad reports I'm hearing online are turning me off.
Good comparison!
Couple of things better on the mavic air 2
Not all the specs of the Air 2S camera have been improved compared to its predecessor. The older Mavic Air 2 has better slow-motion capabilities at FULL HD resolution (1080p@240fps vs 1080p@120fps).
- 3 minutes better flight time.
- 48 megapixel still shots
Air 2S doesn’t support 8K hyperlapse and Focus Track, but Air 2 supports 8K hyperlapse and Focus Track!Unlike Air 2s 20MP camera, the Mavic Air 2 48MP camera makes 8K Hyperlapse footage possible. In hyper-lapse mode, the quad takes a series of photos using the full 48MP sensor and automatically merges them together to produce the final 8K video.

And let's not forget something someone mentioned the air 2 has HDR that is second to none that is so good that when professional photographers have used it have said If you use it right you don't have to change anything in post-production.. or you could get away with not changing any color in post-production!! Simply amazing!!!
you forgot about air2 has hdr but air2s hasn't :)
ESPECIALLY FOR THE MONEY ;)
But it's their money if they want to lose it and waste it oh well good for them 🤣
@@muzikmon2267 so which would u recommend after all the gimmicks and bells and whistles. I’m trying to decide on air 2s vs air 2
@@mariellerebours8050 Stick with the regular The regular air 2.
2S is just not worth it especially with the way social media compresses everything.
Doesn't really matter in the real world and in tests no one could tell the difference and guess which was which..
Save your money get the Air 2 regular
@@muzikmon2267 appreciate u
Very good review, excellent, one question, the 2s, the drone have ocusync 3.0, with 4 antennas, but the controller is ocusync 2.0, how is the transmission better if both are not 3.0? Thanks.
The remote is just a reciever while the drone is the transmitter idk how they do it but it's how it works
Thumbs up well done, full view 👍
