The measure of a man comes down to moments, spread out like dots of pain on the canvas on life. Everything you were, everything you'll someday be, resides in the small, seemingly ordinary choices of everyday life.....Each decision seems as insignificant as a left turn on an unfamiliar road when you have no destination in mind. But the decisions accumulate until you realize one day that they've made you the man that you are. Bear in mind that the measure of a man is the worth of the things he cares about.
I own a small piece of wooded land in Ky. I'm the same as you Drake. I go out in the woods to make that connection to the past. Well said! I really enjoy your videos!!!
So glad I came across your channel. I shared two of your videos on the coalition of historical trackers Facebook page. I’m from Virginia, and I would be dressed like you if I was still back there, but I’m in Missouri. A little later in the historical timeline. Very active at Fort Atkinson in Nebraska, where I portray a French Canadian frontiersmen. I love bringing the old fort to life, and I enjoy this hobby, for the very reasons you were able to put into words. Keep up the good work. You’d be a perfect fit at the “School of the Longhunter“ at Prickett’s Fort, West Virginia.
Great video I have to agree with you I love putting on all my gear and just go walk around In the woods sometimes I get up in the morning put my gear on head out cook my breakfast out the way they use to I just set and enjoy life.
I live in the Ohio River valley, and my 6 th Great grandfather was Captain John Baker,of a militia group. He had a fortified place, called Baker's Station, that was in existence from 1784_1794 in the Western Virginia frontier, today West Virginia. It's probably a 35i minute drive !!!
Seeking a connection un fortunately most of us have lost. .a connection to nature and our ancestors.. more of usl need to get back to something we as a ppl should of never given away in the first place ... thanks soooo much for what u are trying to do . Hopefully, u can bevan inspiration. For this generation to preserve history so its never forgotten...
You do it, because a person watching you will learn way more than a classroom. I had an discussion with trying to explain about heat exhaustion, frostbite and other weather related troubles outside. I was talking to a know it all, of course his buddies jumped in to argue me down. Like on one of the Sunday talk shows. One conservative too 3 or 4 liberals.
Hey Drake! Hobbies require motivation... and like most hobbies... you either, "Get it!" or you don't. Reenacting the life of someone living on the 18th Century American Frontier is not for everybody... but for those who do... the rewards are many! I'll see you down the trail!
Tell us about your clothing. I’m interested in all of it, but particularly your leggings. Where did you acquire the clothing patterns and cloth? Thanks
I love your channel man, i got started in living history with 1700's kit i would hunt up in michigan in the far north woods with my flintlock i made, along with the clothing. I agree with getting lost like its back in time all over again even just for a little bit. Now i got into the 1850's and early 1900's. Keep up the outstanding work!
I do but not one set up yet to receive emails. If you have an Instagram that's the easiest place to get me. If not my flintlock operator email should be up and running within the next week or so and i'd be happy to help or chat!
As soon as I step off the road into the “woods” I’m a frontiersman… you keep doing what you’re doing! It’s awesome! People will follow!

Remember if thats "in your blood" as you say, if that is your heritage, then you owe no explanation to anyone. It belongs to you.
Kindred spirit.
Did you make the frock
I did! It was the first garment I ever sewed. Thank you for watching!
@@FlintlockOperator did a really nice job on it 👍👍👍
can you do an audiobook or something? I could listen to you talk all night
Living History is more available to do, since you do not have to reproduce exact military representations.
This channel is amazing! As a re-enactor myself I totally resonate with all of this. I’d love to connect, does your channel have an email address?
