I'm really interested in doing something like this, always a fan of those flintlocks and some firelocks, but I want to start with clothing of course, and I just can't seem to find any good replicas and I would really appreciate any input you could offer, and by the way, these videos are actually really great and I totally agree with your idea of preserving history and love the videos.
Thank you so much for your support! I'd recommend looking at South Union Mills or Samson Historical for the clothing. Unless you have a particular persona you're going for start putting together a "general civilian" kit. I'd probably get a shirt, waistcoat, breeches or linen trousers, buckle shoes, stockings, and a round hat. A coat is nice but not absolutely necessary starting out if you have a waistcoat. For flintlocks there are a ton of options. Pedersoli makes a range of good starter guns, Veteran Arms offers decent musket and smoothbore repros, you could get a kit from Kiblers Longrifles (they're one of the best), or you could buy a kit from them, Jim Chambers Flintlocks, or one of the other many makers and have someone make it. There are some kits that are fully assembled and the wood just needs to be finished. Let me know if you have anymore questions! Oh, the "I love muzzleloading", "everything black powder", and "dualist 1954" are great channels to watch. I think all three channels have a video about starting your journey in muzzleloading. Also, thanks for the rifle recommendations, I have a few replicas, but I've been looking at Jim Chambers to make a purchase for a functioning one, I'm looking at getting a "Mark Silver Virginia Rifle," since I like the look of it. Of course don't use wood from trees like pine or othe resinous woods unless you like the taste of turpentine.
