      After seeing someone post a 0-60 of over 7 seconds in his N Line, without complaining about wheelspin (wheel hop, really), I gave mine a go.
      TC off, sport mode, S1, no driving/lane keep nonsense. It absolutely shredded through first (no hop!), went into second and spun a tad before it somehow wheelhopped. I let off and looked at my speed. I was pretty surprised, but confused about how quick I could've been going when it wheel hopped. (figuring a quick 1-2 shift would be OK, I did not expect to be doing over 50 so quickly, let alone no wheel hop until it goes into second? Fun car but wheel hop is so bad in these things)
      Takeaways: The N Line is underrated. The stock tires on the US-version DCT are stupid. The car is way fun with everything turned off, and would probably be absolutely incredible with an LSD and some nice engine mounts to stop that damn wheel hop

I’ve never seen so many damn Kia’s and Hyundais. They need to make a change next generation and bump up the power a bit imo. I've watched this video 3 times. As someone who was vascillating between the SI and the N-Line for a while-- it's so satisfying to watch the N-Line take the cake in a drag and roll. The SI is a fun car to drive, but the DCT, the much better interior, and the tech you get for the N-line make it a better value by far-- especially because the N-line is really easy to get at MSRP, whereas every single civic SI dealer I've seen across the country marks it up quite a bit to the point where you're paying thousands more for less performance and less tech. I've always been a Honda fanboy, but Hyundai has stolen my heart with the major strides they've made in the past few years. And I'm not going to debate reliablity-- as I'll get rid of my car in 3-5 years, so I'm not looking for a car to last me past 250k miles or something.

    After 54 years of driving from most of the muscle cars of the late 60's and early 70's to the gas saving 4 cylinders of today. I once bought a 98 Honda Civic with a 112 horse (guessing) 4 banger that had a manual transmission. I learned that cars that are low on power and grunt are much more fun to drive with a manual. I always thought of it like this, take for example a Ford Escort with a manual and one with an automatic. Put them beside each other and race, the manual is much more entertaining to drive because you decide how far you want to wind the engine before the next gear change. A one hundred horsepower motor with the A/C on and an automatic transmission would be a slug off the line while the same car with a manual may not be that much faster, it will definitely bring more smiles than the auto gear box. I've owned an estimated 15 vehicles since I was 11 of them were manuals and 4 were automatics, when you decide when to shift it always brings a smile to your face unlike just stomping the go pedal and waiting for the thrust you'll never get. Out of all the manual gearbox cars I've owned, I've only replaced the clutch in two of them and when you know how to use a clutch correctly you don't burn them up. My clutches usually lasted over a hundred thousand miles. On one car the release bearing wore out while the clutch plate material had very little wear. I could replace a clutch in pretty much anything, automatics have just too many little, tiny balls, springs and are just too much for me to deal with, manuals don't have all of that, just a flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate and release bearing. I've never had much faith in automatic transmissions, just not reliable and just too easy to burn up.

    I'm not even a Hyundai/Kia fan, but once again we see that the Civic Si is an overrated car. For this year it actually loses power and turns in slower performance.
    Edit: Don't get me wrong, the Honda certainly feels better, drives better, and in fact is a superior car to the Elantra. But is Honda showing early signs of going full Nissan? The styling went from origami/Transformers bizarre to Camry/Jetta bland. Toyota seems to be pulling out of their low performance disease of the earlier 2000's, and it seems every car maker goes through phases, much like a teenager. Time will tell. I'm not bagging on Honda or the Civic, just think the Civic Si (no, not the Type R of course) has long been overrated. That's all.

Even gives my bros 2022 Elantra N a hard time in N mode. I pull on him for at least 4 going into 5 gear from a dead stop. His is still all stock. Excellent video, Sam! Thank you for doing this friendly face-off. The Honda Civic Si is still a great car. However, I think this video demonstrates and really puts a "nail to the coffin" that the Hyundai Elantra N-Line is the best vehicle in its class. The Civic Si has the LSD and thought it would make the biggest impact. I'm surprised. I'm very surprised. I suspect if Canada had the Elantra N-Line in manual transmission and you were to do the face-off between manual vs manual transmission, I think it would be a much closer race. However, I bet that the Hyundai Elantra N-Line would slightly pull ahead as it looks like it has better torque and pulls a bit stronger at higher RPM. I have the Elantra N-Line in manual transmission as it is available here in the US. I love it and it is my first Hyundai purchase. Again, thank you for adding this vehicle to your awesome channel. Watching this video just confirms, for me, that I made a great choice in my car purchase; performance on a budget. For best in class under $30k, Hyundai Elantra N-Line WINS. Elantra N-Line is priced around $25k with 10yr/100k warranty. Nevertheless, both are great vehicles.

      what is there to be surprised about, lsd only helps at launch after that its up to the gear ratios and shifting. • @BrownSofaGamer
      @BrownSofaGamer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Manual to manual the Civic would win probably, the only reason it was getting caught was the DCT because it makes a huge difference. Honda claimed no power bump, for the new generation Civic but the power curve is way better, and manual to manual the old Civic Si is faster than a N-Line Elantra. Also the LSD means the Civic would eat the Hyundai around any corners because of the LSD traction.

But many of the comments suggest that course driving is irrelevant. - A course - or real day to day driving - could completely turn the tables where this comparison is concerned. Or even many other comparisons involving the new Civic si. I would bet the lsd and suspension mating would prove harder to beat on a course.

    Does brake boosting the DCT help the1.6t Hyundai with the 7sp in any car seem awful off the line. with a manual handbrake I could revving DCT on the HB and dropping it maybe . Even without an LSD it could use some revs coming out of the whole and then it pulverize the Honda.
    the real race is DCT vis Honda CVT . The MT Honda beats a MT 1.6t Hyundai , I have one and they are stupid cars to drag race in reality and launching them is kind of goody in any situation but I do know that launching or even rolling into full throttle in 1st can cause bad spin and tramping and wheel hop in the Hyundai and in that regard the Honda has a giant advantage drag racing even if I think drag racing 200hp cars is goofy and not their purpose of where they shine which is decent power and ability to cave a road up pretty good and have just enough power to feel fast in regular driving if your adept at keeping the car in the right gear / power band .Basically just enough power to enjoy the manual and shift more cause you gotta be in the right gear and for my hyundai you can't hit 60 in second gear , I think it's like 54 mph and shifting earlier is better as by 55 your past peak near limiter , . but you gotta be on your toes in both these cars for gear selection and know the engine well to pick the right gear compared to a powerful car . I love my 1.6t shockingly as I never thought I would say that about a tiny engine with only 200 hp pushing 3000lbs as I am used to more like double pushing similar weight or at least way more low torque , but because you can ring them out all the time without doing 150 MPH they are amusing to downshift Rev match and find the sweet spots . Also pretty fond of way my 1.6t sounds in cabin as I have never enjoyed 4 cyl sound beside maybe MY STi and although not particularly loud in cabin it's a pretty nice noise when your on it . Back in the day 4 CYL cars sounded awful , buzzy , whiney and like they were going to come apart in this class of car .
