I bought my 1st Bass Hunter boat in 1988. I had 4 of them, over the years. The latest (and best) was a Bass Hunter EX. It was rotationally molded, for expedition strength, it was a beast. I had a 4hp Mercury outboard and a 27lb thrust Minn Kota on it. Even when I had Stratos Bass Boats, I fished out of my Bass Hunter. I caught TONS (literally) of bass from those little boats. Big bass, too. Being so unobtrusive, they allow you to sneak up on bass. I even devised a carpeted deck, to flip and pitch from. I caught several bass between 7 and 10lbs from my Bass Hunters. That was in my younger days, when I was more agile. You're right, the trolling motor must be in the front, if you have a big motor. Be careful with hornet nests; warm weather (or temps in your house) can bring dormant hornets out. They WON'T be happy! I don't know who wound up owning Bass Hunter, but that EX model was hands down the best 2man boat. Better than Bass Raider, Bass Pro, and all the other two piece boats. Because they're rotationally molded, they're ONE PIECE, like a kayak, making them basically indestructible. They're fun, inexpensive platforms to get you out there. Enjoy! /\ / \ / \●• / \ / / ¥ < ____🪨___🪨🪨
Just saw your text message to John here, and you're definitely right, as it concerns that Hornet's nest. That's my biggest fear, is having unhatched larvae hatch out, cause John a bunch of problems!
Love your videos brother John. This is the first time I’ve noticed you didn’t conclude the video with Scripture! One of my fav parts. To me it makes your videos stand out from everyone else’s. God bless you bro and keep up the awesome work!
My set up on the Bass Hunter was so cool. I would put both motors on; Merc on back, Minn Kota on front. I'd also put both (TEMPRESS, they're AWESOME!) seats on. I'd raise the Minn Kota when I wanted to run. I would then tighten the steering tension on my hand tiller 4hp Mercury down tight. Once I opened her up (from turtle to rabbit), I would then go from the back seat (2' apart) to the front, planing the boat out and making her GO! Since I couldn't reach the tiller, I'd just lean on the left pontoon to go left and the right pontoon to go right. It was probably a little less than legal but, with just a full tank (encased in the motor) and another quart Gatorade jug full of pre-mixed gas, I could run for miles, for days. I caught more bass outta those little boats than I did outta my 4 Stratos boats! Biggest bass was a 9-13 giant that came from Florida's Ocala National Forest, circa 1989. I also caught spotted bass, 2 at a time-(one on the front hook, one on the back)- FIVE TIMES in one day, on a ¼oz chrome/blue Rat-L-Trap, on Alabama's Lake Mitchell. That's right, Five times. I did it by following my childhood hero, Rick Clunn's advice. Rick once said "when you catch a bass with FOLLOWERS, work him in a figure '8' at the boat, like Musky anglers do. Inevitably, the followers will strike the lure hanging out of your fish's mouth". I did this to perfection that one day so long ago (circa 1992), on PUBLIC WATER in Alabama, from my li'l Bass Hunter boat.
Great drone footage, John! I was smiling remembering kayak fishing that same entire shoreline, and even passing you without realizing it was you that night! Thanks for bringing those memories back and making this old guy smile!! God bless! :-)
Oh my. I have had two boats like that I bought from Bass Pro one in the late 70's and the second in the early 80's. I caught more fish out of them than I ever have out of a bass boat.
That is the way they are. I collected one during late fall when I was a kid. I took it to shool and it ended up in the clock room. About a month later a blood-curdling scream came from back there. Hornets had begun hatching from it. Be careful.
One thing i would get for it is a rudder. With the electric motor in the back, it will track straight while using the front trolling motor. Without the motor on the back, when you use it on windy days it will drift out the back. It gets aggravating. Rudders are easy to make maybe even buy at this time. They are stationary in line rudder. That electric motor is awesome, another great video.
John, there could be eggs in that nest that will hatch out next spring. I know this because my sons brought one into the garage and as it warmed up, the hornets began to appear.
Cool hornets nest. My dad and I got one once while there were still hornets in it. We put it in a bag and put it in the freezer for about a month. They do make a cool man cave decoration
Get a regular Minkota hand control. Losen the screw on the side and spin the controls. Then you are pulling it and have better control. I fished out of these through high school and right after it. Great fishing boats.
Windy days make these lil boats hard to manage. I used an old trolling motor base n shaft. Bolted a piece of aluminum to it to make a rutter. Best thing ive done to mine for fishability. Tracts straight n folds up when docking. Really enjoy watching.
That motor looks so cool! I just added a little outboard to mine. These boats are a ton of fun. If you’re ever over near Maryville area, yell at me and we’ll do a tiny boat fishing armada!😂 If the fish aren’t biting that day… we can just race our boats and you can capture it in that drone😂💪🐟
That’s a nice setup. I will be switching the head around on my husband’s trolling motor and adding a mounting bracket to the front of his raft. That turning around to run it gave him a stiff neck. I like my motorized Old Town kayak just fine and I don’t have to worry about popping it. I even had to put a new drop down bow mount trolling motor on our aluminum 16’ boat this summer and then we never ended up taking it out.
There are a lot of electric only lakes that little boat would be perfect on. Maybe travel with it during the colder months when a kayak might not be practical.
Nice little set-up. I read all the comments, everybody has their own opinion. It seems to work out pretty good, but take it out under different conditions and then give us an update. Great drone footage ! John, I don't know if you were wearing a PFD, but please be careful. We need(must have) your videos for the rest of our journey in this life !! 😁 We love ya Brother ! Always be safe ! Randy B.
That makes hungry just to watch!! Those are hard to find around here. That's a similar setup I've always used on the rivers for all day floats. But I use a 55pd. Thrust Minn Kota with a deep cycle Optima Blue top battery battery. Never runs out of power on a day float. It's about half that price.
May have been mentioned..but wire in a foot switch to the trolling motor. Then you just have to tap the foot switch to keep you off the bank or move around
that e-propulsion motor is cool i can only bet big buck but i like that the battery is enclosed in it , it would be cool on my pond prowler as i hate batteries and a lot of junk in my boat - less is best imo. as for the trolling motor on the front you should switch to a little Watersnake 18# thrust as it weighs nothing than a small dry cell battery in a ammo box so much easier and you have all that power in the back. anxious to see how long the e-propulsion last and the cost.
Great video John! For goodness sakes though attach the kill switch to something on the boat perhaps. I’d hate to see you lose it out on the water when your fishing. Lol weather is still nice huh? Thanks for sharing!🤓🤓
On getting hornets nest best to get them when its in the 20s that way if they are in their they are dormant. They want come out of the nest until it gets about 60 degrees or warmer. I found a nest that was about 3 1/2 ft. long by about 18 inches. That was empty. Found one that still had hornets in it also. Couldn't tell until I cut the limb it was on. Only about half the size of the big one I found but a lot heavier just tied it back with some string and still in there when spring came around. Just make sure to put in bed of truck and not the cab in case they are still at home.
I live at Pebble Isle Marina on a houseboat for the past 4 years and here is the Hook line and sinker to come fish my way. The Buffalo River is running with large smallmouth, I went from linden Tennessee to Humphreys county on the river. It's a 12 mile track on the river. I killed it with a hellgrammite, you have made me love that lure.
LOL... My favorite opening video clip. Love the look on that fish just before he slaps the camera with his tail LOL. Thank you for all your effort to share your fun with us. Regards from central Arkansas.

Those perch made me hungry. Hope you can do a catch and cook later. Quality fish. Beautiful area! Like that boat set up too. Seems like it'll be able to cover a lot more area with that setup. Great video John. Nice drone footage too.
Awesome! I would love to build a monster lithium 18650 battery for that motor. I’m thinking about getting a huangkai motor off Amazon to give a try on my raider.
Loved the drone footage. I know I would rather use that craft and e-motor than my kayak on a lake the size Parksville. Looks like more comfortable and easier to fish, let alone the ability to cover more of the lake too. Wish I had a setup like that.
Love the perspectives and this video. I do enjoy the 8 ft Pelican pond hopper my brother and I have. Fits nicely with either of our trucks and they're surprisingly stable. It moves pretty good with the Minn Kota and gel cell battery. Heck of a lot lighter than the old ones. Might take that advice on adding a rudder. We typically mount the motor on the back. Blessings and Merry Christmas brother
I remember last summer unloading my kayak and getting ready and realized I forgot my Oar.. lol, luckily was only 15 min away and in a private spot.. how did you like that lil boat?
Catfish Dave has a electric trolling motor that he can control somehow with his phone, they would be great for you. I have heard of people taking those nest homes and putting them up next to their fireplace and then the nest gets warm and then Katie bar the door there’s gonna be a hot time in Johns place tonight
I have a hornets nest if you wait till you get a hard frost the hornets will be dormant. It looks like the birds got that one, won't be any hornets in that one. The crows and ravens get into them after it frosts eating any larva that are in there. You can put it in a big trash bag and spray insecticide
check out the, “twin troller x10 by Freedom electric. also check out PacMotor. Both systems are really cool as far as more modern and lightweight and no hassle propulsion. love your video’s. keep em coming, great work.
Except for the queen, hornets die at the first hard freeze. The queen hides in leaf litter on the forest floor, where she lays fertilized eggs (new queens) and unfertilized eggs that become the first male workers to take care of the new queens. When it warms up they head out and make new nests. So, after the first hard freeze, you can collect them safely.
Awesome buddy 👍 👍 It reminds me of the 2 seater my cousin had that we Crappie fished out of growing up . That thing is gonna make for some cool content . Has some torque too !!!
Old timer told me long time ago that if a hornets nest builds it on the ground, it’s going to be a hard winter if they build them hi in the tress It’s gonna be a mild winter I really don’t know
You know that is a cool little all in one motor package. But for the price I can buy a good 55lb trolling motor and a 800.00 dollar Lithium 100AH trolling battery and have money left over for other things.
Classic Intro is best intro. My mind cannot be changed lol
I agree for sure

No pullin no startin...I been saying the same thing about my battery powered lawnmower for about two years now. That boat looks fun man!
battery powered mower don't sound bad
May wanna check a little deeper in that nest before taking it inside lol they cluster into a tight ball and don't get active until they warm up
Just one more fish, just ooone more fish. Lol. Every fisherman knows that feeling so well !
John, there could be eggs in that nest that will hatch out next spring. I know this because my sons brought one into the garage and as it warmed up, the hornets began to appear.
i will put it in a bag or something for a while
Highly recommend putting inside a bag.
Nice John those drone shots were killer I would've kept those perch you would've had enough for supper

Great video! That's a nice setup on the boat! Interesting choice with the hornets nest! Thanks for sharing!
That’s a nice setup for your boat John.

start a patreon, I would support this channel
That is a pretty cool set up. Does make me realize just how strong my Minn Kota Ulterra is my boat. It can pull it 4.2 mph and it's a 21 footer tool.
these little boats are really made to be stable not so much speed
It's nice to see you liking the bass raider Abit more. Love the new electric motor. Nice perch. Blessings 🙏.

I like that epropulsion motor you’re testing. It’ll be nice for those lakes that don’t allow anything but paddle and electric.
Too expensive. Blue top Optima battery and a 55pd. Thrust trolling motor will give equal power at half the price.
Enjoyed that one. Those little perch are so much fun to catch. You are right they will make you think you have a bass when they hit.
For sure!
I took a hornets nest home when I was young. When I got it inside and warmed up, the hornets came out! Not fun! Lol 6:13
You are truly blessed. It's 12/21/22 and it's -7 here in Stevens Point Wi and my Bass raider 10NXT is in storage. I need to move
Love your boat, I know you will enjoy it 💞
I had a big hornet's nest in my room growing up. I was a little nervous for you while you were swinging that spinnerbait at it though. 😆 Cool find!
There are a lot of electric only lakes that little boat would be perfect on. Maybe travel with it during the colder months when a kayak might not be practical.

Great rig rite there John... I'm re airbrushing my devil's horse think I'm going with that perch color...
Good choice!
Great video John! For goodness sakes though attach the kill switch to something on the boat perhaps. I’d hate to see you lose it out on the water when your fishing. Lol weather is still nice huh? Thanks for sharing!🤓🤓
You could carry a buddy heater on that thing too lol
love the drone shots!
SWEET set-up Jon!!!! I would love to have that!!!! Thanks for amazing videos buddy
John, that is a hot-rod set up! Stick it on a 'yak and you could ski!!!

We love our Spirit 1.0 Plus! Quiet. Efficient. NO gasoline.
Oh, and we have a TwinTrollerX10...
i do like how quiet it is
You have to fish trace creek, Humphreys county Tennessee. It eventually goes to Waverly and comes out at Pebble Isle Marina in New Johnsonville

You shoulda had yourself a perch fry. They are delicious
John Loved the footage, I've actually been sitting here looking at the same setup! Your demo. on that motor was great, I'm buying the whole outfit around march. Thank you for what you do, plus beautiful drone footage! God Bless you! (Glen). WV.
Cool, thanks
Spray it with hair spray(aqua-net) and it will keep longer and keep it dry
I was considering the same propulsion for my Raider
Good video John. Try putting your hornets nest in a trash bag and leave it in the freezer for several days, that should kill any life forms. I think the queens over winter elsewhere.
The wasp nest was super cool!
What a tank! That is a clean looking fish.
That’s how they look in cape cod kettle ponds . Even the pickerel are clean looking there .
Very helpful video. Just picked up an Epropulsion. Let us upgrade that mini hoop for you by the way.
I live in Colorado. I had no idea that Alabama is so beautiful.
That e-motor looks like a great setup!
I personally don't mind CATCHING those Yellow Perch, but man, I HATE takin' 'em off the hook! It's like you need a strong pair of gloves, just to keep yourself from getting cut. They can stab ya with those fins, they can bite ya a bit and, yeah, you're right-They can slice ya with those sharp gills of theirs. I found that out the hard way, back a couple of years ago. Hey i like that set up you have there. Very very cool John. God bless you and your whole family...🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
This late in the season there should be nobody home, and another way to tell is if it starting to break down.
Also an old saying and I believe is the lower a nest is to the ground the milder winter will be.
Also I love the set up. I'm wanting to get one of these boats
Man that thing is cool. Good video as always. Merry Christmas !
The new trolling motor is awesome, looks neat and seems to have good speed
I’ve never caught yellow perch anywhere like lake Raburn in N Ga. Schools of them as big as walleye, which are in there also.
Nice bass, man! Cool boat too
Cool. I would think about getting a second battery.
Awesome job love watching your videos I think seen every one you done
I think you could pull two people on skis with that motor
Thank you for doing this video I've been planning on getting a boat 🚢 like this and motor
Good to see your channel keep growing. That was a good review of the .ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Evo
Thanks!

I used to put my 4hp Merc on, whether I used it or not, just for the advantage of the rudder.
Dope video man! That largemouth was nice! 🎣🎣🎣
Appreciate it!!
I remember last summer unloading my kayak and getting ready and realized I forgot my Oar.. lol, luckily was only 15 min away and in a private spot.. how did you like that lil boat?
im liking it more as i get comfortable with it
Jonathan gots all kinds of toys. ❤👍
Catfish Dave has a electric trolling motor that he can control somehow with his phone, they would be great for you. I have heard of people taking those nest homes and putting them up next to their fireplace and then the nest gets warm and then Katie bar the door there’s gonna be a hot time in Johns place tonight
Awesome! Keep Up The Videos!
Good footage with the drone
Just be sure there aren't larvae in that nest. Be a shame for them to hatch in your studio!!
Great trip, guy. Stay blessed.
The e propulsion motor retails for about $2600 if anyone is curious. Pricey but nice .
Nothings cheap anymore
Speed is relative. In that thing, 5mph is approximately 500mph is that thing.
Love the new boat
Nice setup! I thought about getting one as well, but can't use them in the lakes by my house 🤷🤷🤷
Not enough room in that boat for me and a hornets nest! I got stung between the eyes by a giant hornet, I looked like lion boy!
I have the same boat there great but my seat brackets are aluminum it looks like you have the steal ones where do you get them at?
I have a hornets nest if you wait till you get a hard frost the hornets will be dormant. It looks like the birds got that one, won't be any hornets in that one. The crows and ravens get into them after it frosts eating any larva that are in there. You can put it in a big trash bag and spray insecticide
If you turn that torn up part to the back when you display it I think it will look cool.
check out the, “twin troller x10 by Freedom electric. also check out PacMotor.
Nice catch👍
Awesome buddy 👍 👍 It reminds me of the 2 seater my cousin had that we Crappie fished out of growing up . That thing is gonna make for some cool content . Has some torque too !!!
thanks man, i think i will get some good use out of it
Gotta love Greasy creek on a windy day!
oh yes it was so calm in there
That’s bad ass John!
Nice set up
Old timer told me long time ago that if a hornets nest builds it on the ground, it’s going to be a hard winter if they build them hi in the tress It’s gonna be a mild winter I really don’t know
You know that is a cool little all in one motor package. But for the price I can buy a good 55lb trolling motor and a 800.00 dollar Lithium 100AH trolling battery and have money left over for other things.
sure can
Somebody got a new drone!
