Awesome new features for the spirit 1.0 evo. I love the regeneration charging while sailing, bigger battery, and range. This is on my list for an outboard replacement for my small sailboat. Time to save up. Keep up the great work.

Looks like spirit is about to set the standard in small outboards. Floating batteries and generator mode is great but that 2.6k,price means most of us fish kayak guys can't afford it.

It would be interesting to see how the charging output relates to actual charging time..like, at 4 knots / 40 watts,, how long would it take to charge the battery 10%?

Is the regen and display the only improvement over the Plus? When not using regen (no sail) should I still pay the extra 300?

Those three things are the only difference over the Plus. In my opinion, if you are not using it on a vessel that has a sail, then no reason to pay the extra for the Evo.

I'm a little confused, if it charges as you propel how come it has the same run time as the spirit plus?

The Spirit Plus and Spirit EVO are the exact same motors and batteries so the run time is identical. The Evo simply adds the ability for the propeller to turn backwards and act as a generator when the vessel is being powered by a sail. You are then dragging the motor, which will mean you are moving slower than if you were not dragging it, but it is recharging the battery. Like regen braking on EV.
Run time is a measurement of how long it takes to discharge the battery during use. You are either under windpower to move your vessel in which case you can be recharging the battery or the vessel is not under windpower and using the motor to propel you at which time you are discharging the battery.
