    Awesome review man I'm happy you liked the suff inside. BTW Hamburger is bacon we got that from Germans and Austrians into our cuisine (Hamburger Speck): Cooked bacon, in the region also popular under the name of hamburger, is made of streaky pork back fat. The cross-section displays evenly distributed meaty and fatty parts. Streaky cooked bacon is mildly smoked and has quite a juicy taste. We eat this kind of bacon often for breakfast.
    Sardines are popular food here since we have a long coastline, real name for this fish is European pilchard.
    Best Regards from Croatia

      Crombat Rations Honesty the word makes more sense when ham is used. Ham burger. I laughed as a kid because we got beef when it sounded like we should get pork.

      Crombat Rations. This is where the confusion comes from: Certain German street foods are named after the city where they come from. Frankfurter, Berlinner (a kind of Bagel), Hamburger from? Yep Hamburg. It has nothing to do with it being made from ham, a Hamburger is always made from beef.

      Karl P hamburger speck is totally different kind of food in Hamburg.

      Cromat Rations. I was waiting for this. You are correct. But it leads into what I mentioned that a lot of German/Austrian food gets named after the Town where it got provinence.
      Given that my German side family comes from Hamburg, I know about "Hamburgers" , but I'm also aware of speck (love it) which may have the same provinence. The "Hamburger" as such, as street food (stalls etc) is at least 300 years old. It's a wonderful world. Just don't get a Rheinlander talking about where Frankfurters come from.

    Croatian food in general is very tasty, the fresh stuff is delicious and even the canned meals are kept very natural - which is why you loved the simple beans and bacon one. Greetings from Germany.

    You can find all of these in any local store in Croatia. The orange drink looks like Cedevita, very popular in Croatia. Also, if the honey is crystalized, that usually means it has no additives in it.

    • @TrangleC
      @TrangleC 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since you seem to be informed on Croatian food, I'd like to ask you something:
      I had a Croatian grandmother. Naturally, my mother was ethnically Croatian too, but she was not interested in that part of her heritage and never really talked Croatian to us kids and never really cooked Croatian food, or anything like that. I only got to eat Croatian food when I was at my granny's house and she used to make a orange looking stew with white beans and pork in it, that looked very much like the one in this video, but I am almost certain she didn't call it "Grah", but had another name for it. I totally forgot that name. Can you tell me if there is another name for this dish, or maybe another, very similar dish with another name?

      @@TrangleC another name for 'grah' is 'fažol' it depends on region your grandma comes from. 'ž' is pronounced similar to 'sh' but more like french, like that 'ge' sound in word prestige. I hope you understand haha. I don't think we have any other food with beans in it except grah/fazol so yeah it must be it

Burek is actually originally Turkish and brough by the Ottomans, however adapted and adopted by literally all ex-Yugoslavian countries so it cannot be claimed by anyone specifically. Cevapi are actually originally from the Middle East and also brought by the Turks and also adopted and adapted by virtually entire ex-Yugoslavia as a type of fast food. Rakija is a Balkan specific drink which possibly predates even the Slavic "migration" and is also produced in literally every country from Croatia down to Albania and Greece. Even further a similar drinks are made in Hungary and all the way to Poland and Czechia. Ne seri kvake kad nisi bravar...

      @@rcgusto2427 its called a hamburger for the same reason as the sandwich... it originated from the german city of hamburg and its a style of steamed/cooked bacon as opposed to the usual dried/smoked bacon. it's really good and pretty common in balkans.

      "meat from Hamburg". Bacon, later grinded (the idea of grinding probably comes from times of Ottoman wars), nowdays it means just grinded meat between two slices of some pastry. But it means "from Hamburg" and it is widely known as processed bacon throughout Europe.

      +RC Gusto That is because Sardines and Tuna belong in the same family of fish...along with the Mackarel which I personally like the most. In Croatia we colloquially refer to all these as "blue fish" based just by their physical appearance...I am guessing Herring would be considered "blue fish" as well but we don't have those in Croatia since it's a North Atlantic fish which obviously doesn't live in the Mediterranean and/or Adriatic Sea.

    For future reference, in croatian the 'j' actually makes a 'y' sound, so the paprejak (honey/pepper/ground nuts/gingerbread-ish spiced biscuits) is said 'papreyak'. Pretty neat to see, it's not too MRE-specialized (more a collection of grocery/restaurant supply items) and not too difficult to recreate given that it's all/nearly all Podravka stuff.

      I hope im not mistaking but that is German word also? Hope im not wrong or offending Dutch but Podravka is also very popular in Germany and Austria and their translation priority is German and English.Also probably because Germans like hams and sausages so thats probably Podravka's best seller there.
      I didnt do any research this is just speculation so dont be mad if I got something wrong.

    Actually honey is probably the only nourishment that never decomposes. It has no expiration date and, if it crystallizes, means it is real honey and not some honey-flavored artifitial syrup.

    • @rcgusto2427
      @rcgusto2427  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fernando MCC you're absolutely correct. To dissolve the crystals, just heat it gently. Never goes bad. It also has natural antimicrobial properties, in fact, we use a honey formulation in wound care medicine.

    • @joekerr9197
      @joekerr9197 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You also don't need to heat it up in a microwave oven...just pour some hot water in a cup or bowl (depending on the size and type of the package) and put the honey in the hot water for a couple of mins...it should revert to it's original viscous state. ;)
