I've visited dozens of indigenous tribes around the world, but no experience has been quite like this one, on the tri-country border of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. My wife, Deanna, and I spent 2 days driving on long dirt roads to meet the Vadoma tribe, who are the only humans on earth that genetically have 2 toes on each foot.
I came here to find out their story, spread awareness about their struggles and learn what life would be like with this shocking condition. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below - have you ever heard of the Vadoma tribe? What do you think about their feet?

"The Path Guided by Gods and Buddhas
O people of the world
To save you, I fear not the red demon’s cruelty
The truth I offer you is your hope
It will help you cough up the pill of delusion you were forced to swallow
Seeing Dafa [Great Law] that guides your return to heaven
And hearing the Creator’s call
For this you descended to the world, enduring bitter sufering
Saving people amid danger is my promise

A Song in My Heart
In the depths of my heart is an ancient song
Its melody flows with a longing
Whenever I’m wounded, in body or heart
Whenever I feel lost in my life
This song I will sing in my heart, silently
To kindness I hold on, and there will be hope
Our home is in heaven
This melody I’ll never forget
Autumn 2011

True Words
Formation-stability-degeneration-disintegration is the law
Cosmic bodies will meet with disaster at the end
Seeking Dafa to save beings in heavens
Myriad Gods came down to the world, enduring hardship
Do not miss what you’ve been awaiting for thousands of years
The Creator, the Lord God, has come long ago
Spreading Dafa widely and saving all beings
The red demon spreads lies, churning up dust
Hard to tell truth from falsity-heart is the guide
Don’t you see the heavenly gate is open, after eons
In delusion, you’ve forgotten who you are
The truth of Dafa solves the riddle
Your heavenly family is waiting
Quickly board the Fa boat, shedding your human skin

He's referring to slight disagreements regarding water management but he blew it way out of proportion 😂
Do Zambians see it the same? Putin also said it was not a war, while Ukrainians said it was! Lol
@@eswarjuri No, Zambians don't think they're at war. Like I said in my previous comment, it's minor disagreements over water management. All countries that share a border along a major river both sides rely on will have disputes. It's governmental and as the original comment suggest; the people aren't even aware, that's how minor the dispute is 😂
Thank you for the truthful information about your country
This is why a diverse gene pool is so important to prevent things like this from happening.
What do you mean?
@@jdos5643 Having a gene pool without diversity leads to deformities like this. Most small communities all around the world struggle with keeping the gene pool diverse and as a result have a much higher rate of defects like this. This is also why royalty (which practice incest/family intermixing) had so many deformities.
@@G33K01345 so in other words you’re trying to say sweet home Alabama?
@@jdos5643 Not necessarily. Most communities that are small and distant from other areas just don't have the travel of persons in and out to encourage more diverse meetings. There's also a lack of sex ed and keeping track of genealogies.
Unintentional incest mostly where red states don't have an excuse.
@@G33K01345 It's sad you had to explain that to someone. When you see common deformities like this it's always these small tribes in the middle of nowhere, where everyone is at least distantly related. Almost everyone has that gene that creates the deformity. You see this problem with small tribes in Tanzania where Albinism is common.
There’s no conflict between Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 and Zambia 🇿🇲. $125 for a permit 😲! You were scammed by both your driver and the officials. I come from that district and the major issue in that area is poaching that’s why there’s a lot of Police activity

I'm Tanzanian, I follow very closely all events in Africa, I've never heard of a conflict between Zambia and Zimbabwe
True. Zambians and Zimbabweans are the same people and share a lot of history.
There's lots of news about escalating tensions between the two countries. It is related to Russia starting trouble and spreading disinformation. To say nothing is going in between these two countries is just inaccurate. There are numerous news reports about it.
Same I'm also from Tanzania samia noo
Thanks for putting this together. I am Zambian and I had a chance to visit the region and met the Vadoma people. It was such a beautiful experience being among them. Just to point out:
1. There's never been ongoing conflict between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
2. The lady said in Africa we clap before eating our meals. That's probably a practice in that region but not all of Africa.
I think his driver just scammed him out of $125. LOL
I was thinking the official inside wanted $25 for permit, and $50 to write it up. So driver smiles and says ok and relays the $125 total to the rich Americans.
Everyone happy. 😁
@@A-Milkdromeda-Laniakea-Hominid My thoughts exactly. These people are just doing what they need to do, on behalf of their families. In the U.S., $125 might feed a single person for maybe 2-3 days (if you're frugal). However, in places like Zimbabwe, a local could potentially feed their family for at least a week. As westerners, who come from wealthy countries, we often take for granted how much of a privilege it is to be able to afford to travel, in the first place.
@@MattipedersenDid you literally just say $125 might feed a person for a few days? Are you insane? $125 could last 14 days easy
@@syeddaahmed7460 14 days on a buck and a quarter would be mighty bland eating. Let's say a week so we can have milk and meat. But their overall point stands- we're very lucky to live in the west where we get a fully prepared chicken for $6 usd (chock full of pesticides and hormones but hey, we didn't even have to catch it.) Or a beef steak for $15 and we don't have to use the whole animal before it rots. Every kind of fruit under the sun just sitting there in piles in the produce section.
Food security is a wonderful thing.
😂 yeah & the way the guy said it whispering like he was lying 😂
There has never been conflict between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Zambia has always been peace. We supported our Zimbabwean brothers and sisters fight colonialism.

Here in the Caribbean, there was one boy in the village next door, who was born similarly, with 2 toes on each foot, and and 3 fingers on each hand. He grew up doing everything that a normal boy would do, batting and bowling well when playing cricket. His writing hand was exceptional. He was in no way handicapped.
That’s beautiful to hear. I believe this condition happens though as a result of low folic acid during pregnancy. It could be that many women in this tribe are nutrient deficient on top of the defect being hereditary
I believe it's from inbreeding.

@@nouvel0001I agree. Mostly because my concern is that he may get bullied or the bike stolen or someone may pop the tire…something. If I were Drew, I would try to find some sponsors or buy at least 10 for the community to share. No offense Drew, I know it’s a lot when you visit people in need but can’t give everything. But singling one out when others may need this in that community may strain the one who has and definitely the ones that don’t.
As someone who was trained to work in physical therapy. It is very important to think about what you are saying. Saying "normal" toes vs theirs with two, when you were repeatedly corrected as it being a "gift" and that they are "special", you should have picked up on that and at least used the term "different" or "special". We were trained to say "new knees" "new hips" ect and didn't shy away from saying "stumps" when talking with patients who had amputations.
I do admire that you visited and brought a bounty to share with the people. Bringing light to this tribe and smiles to their faces. All of us, no matter our differences are fearfully and wonderfully made by our creator. May God bless you and yours on your journeys, sharing other people, cultures and lands with your viewers. I'm always amazed and look forward to your content and experiences.

Thank you for this comment, because I was thinking the very same thing, regardless of what some of the commenters here may believe. The Moorish Temple of America ( that has since dissolved) mentioned a doctrine( Yacobites), explaining our history regarding a nefarious group of originals that were cloning to create a lighter skin tone. They created a variation of black phenotypes in the process of lightening the skin(ie., Pygmy, negritos, siddis, aboriginals, etc). Some had blonde hair blue eyes as a result of trial and error. This video is another example of cloning dissimilarities
Instead of discarding these people; they would later have them interbreed with the lighter complected clones, and/or clone the cells of each phenotype to produce more. This is why we see light complected Asians, South Americans, and islanders ( as we know them today dominating the scene.
