The old man (aba) and the old lady (ane) with the big nose plug are my grand parents. Aba used to be priest (a very renowned one during his active days) but had to retire due to old age. Thanks for visiting Ziro 🙏

The shaman at 6:43 is from my Village. His name is Mudang Pai (you can see we have the same surname), he is one of the few remaining shamans in our tribe. There are lots of families who don't have a shaman anymore, and while performing any traditional rituals they will play the voice recording of the prayers/chantings. (As they don't have a priest anymore)
Fun fact: Mudang Pai has played a role in a Bollywood movie "Bhediya"
1 more fun fact: While Aate(Brother) Pai is a priest for our traditional indigenous trbal religion, his wife is a Christian, but they live peacefully together. Both of them respecting each other's religion.

Fantastic video! It was so interesting to see a little bit of how these lovely people live. :)
It does make me sad thiugh that the origin of the nose plugs for the women was to make themselves "ugly" to avoid kidnapping... it's very sad that the women were desperate enough to mutilate themselves so they could try to be safe.
At least now it's something the ladies seem to be proud of.
