After 4 years, I went back to visit the PYGMIES - who are genetically the shortest group of people in the world. The last time I met the pygmies, I was alone in the Central African Republic, and this time, I went deep into the Democratic Republic of Congo (4,000 miles away) with Deanna and our local friend, Obed.
The journey was not easy, as we battled flat tires, massive thunderstorms, and my camera nearly getting stolen from someone at a street market in Bukavu (the 3rd biggest city in the DR Congo). But the payoff in the end was pure magic - the pygmies are so welcoming and fun! They literally danced around the fire while beating the drums from the moment we met until we left (15 hours straight).
This is one of those stories and experiences that (when it's all said and done), I will be remembered for. It is a pleasure to share this story with you, that my team and I spent 5 weeks editing, and I hope that you enjoy! And don't forget to subscribe for more stories like this one! bit.ly/2hyQnZ1

The fact that the tallest people in the world and the shortest people in the world are all in Africa is testimony to the genetic variation on the continent. Apparenly there is more genetic diversity between Africans than between any other two people on the planet. Fascinating. Thank you for showing us the world.

I’m from Gabon 🇬🇦, for those who know, pygmées are among the kindest, most sharing and welcoming community ever. In Gabon they welcomed the bantous, taught them knowledge like spiritually (bwiti/ iboga), herbal medicine, and how to survive in the forest. But unfortunately, as they are a pacific community, we started to chase them from their natural habitat, force them to integrate in our society, and literally use them as we employ them for big hard work to pay them in chicken change. Thank you, for this video. It’s important to show to the world what they are going through, as they don’t ask much, just peacefully live in the forest where we found them.

We blame the white man for slavery yet black mistreat other blacks worst then the white man. From 2021- 2023 there was a civil war that took place in east Africa. According to military warfare experts. It was The most brutal war of the 21st century. If it wasn’t for Ukraine and Russia war. They would be talking about it all over the media. over six hundred thousand people dead. One million people displaced. Simply because one tribe did like the other.

The Pygmy tribes in Ituri province underwent genocide at the hands of 2 U S supported groups to clear them off the land. ~90,000 Pygmy people perished, this was in late 2002-early 2003. Look it up on Wikipedia. Rwanda has also been used as a U S proxy in the region as a middleman/ destabilizer of Eastern Congo in order to keep the region weak and the rare earth metals smoothly exploited and exported into international markets (via Rwanda). It's all incredibly disturbing.

I hope you are familiar @DrewBinsky -- having realized that your partner Deanna is Filipino -- that the first settlers or peoples of the Philippines were pygmies as well ;). We call them "Aetas" or "Negritos", the last term given by the Spaniards who encountered these short-statured (they're also about 4 feet+ tall although recent generations of them are taller now due to mixed marriages), dark skin-colored, and kinky-haired ancestors of ours. Their populations are dwindling now, although a great number of them used to live in Zambales, around Mt. Pinatubo in central Luzon. And like any other pygmy race, they lived as hunger-gatherers like their ancestors in the Philippine islands since about 30,000 years ago!

Drew, I came across your channel couple nights ago and loved these few videos I've watched. This video here is close to my own heart. I found out about 2 years ago that I have the bloodline of the Bantu people, possibly from Cameroon: found this out right after returning from my first mission trip to Africa in Malawi. I've been to Africa 3 times now for mission trips. Anytime I'm able to have the funds to sign up and go, I'm there,Lord willing. This video for the Pygmy people is similar to what's happening to the Massai people in Tanzania. It's sad. Thank you for not only having the interest to make your videos but also and more importantly loving and caring for people and their culture. Thank you.
