I bought my Suunto from an infantryman that used it on a tour in Afghanistan and then used it for a while after discharge and I bought it a year and a half ago for 50$. It still works perfect and after I put a new strap on it it looks almost new too. Battery life sucks ass tho. I had to put a new one in it 2 weeks after buying it and I just replaced it again a few months ago so I got around a year. I just replaced it with a gshock mudman gw9300. I just wish it had the barometer and altimeter. It's only dual sensor but still a great watch.
Finally! A list of reasonably priced watches that actual military/law enforcement officers would wear! I was getting tired of those lists with 2k+ mechanical watches in em! The GGB100 is defo a great pick for the top spot, I have only nice things to say about mine. I too hate the Apple watch and I know for a fact they have about the same durability as a banana. They're made of aluminum and there's nothing protecting the screen.. plus the battery life is just terrible and I can't even call it a watch if it won't last a day.
I was initially impressed by the beauty of the Suunto Core all black, got one and used it every day for two years. It got a lot of publicity bu the equalizer movies, and although it is a nice watch and love the crisp negative display and backlight, strap cracked and tear apart after two years and pushers started to stick making the watch impossible to operate. So I changed to a G-Shock rangeman. And also a DW-6900 both very resistant watches.
Yeah. I've seen it a lot (the AMOLED edition is awesome) in military related videos where grunts are shown doing stuff. And also the Garmin 2X Instinct series. Both are extremely well done watches and very useful either in the field or out of it.
Man thanks to your review I bought a dw5600bb, man this is what I was looking for, straight heavy duty watch, simple, functional, great price!! I like the suunto too, I’ll get it soon!
*update* recently got the Suunto, and it’s the best looking watch I’ve ever seen, but one button stoped working, and it’s got no fix, need to replace the whole thing and it’s a pain in the ass reaching out to Suunto! It’s cheaper to buy a new one, than sending yours to them and wait till they sent it back! I don’t know if my suunto had some factory issues, but it’s extremely good looking and comfortable that I might buy another one
I used a Timex Ironman in 2003 during the war in Iraq. It worked well even with the sand getting into it during sandstorms. Never let me down. Other than time, I would use the stopwatch or chrono feature, if I remember right, and the indigo would light it up at night to look at the time when figuring out when to wake up for radio watch. I didn't need all kinds of crazy sensors or stuff like that. Not any special Ironman watch, just the normal basic one. I think I got it at Walmart back then for like $20 on sale. It was all I needed.
DW5600BB here. 200m water resistant. NATO-ish style factory band. Love it. (ETA: I did add a 9H tempered glass screen protector.) If they ever come out with a version that's Tough Solar/atomic clock set, blacked out, same band, I'm going to be all over it. 😅
Agreed. What I wear on me for work as a patrol officer. I did a review a couple months ago and have been recommending it to fellow officers. I upgraded the case and strap however!
Working security the watches I see are the G shock/casio, Timex Ironman which I wear and has served me well and I'm seeing the apple watch and I feel the same way about it. The problem with large watches is that they are a complete pain in the butt when putting on or taking of clothing, rucks, webbing, SCUBA gear etc. They just get hung up and caught on everything. When you are dog tired and trying to get your ruck on or off its just a complete frustration having your shoulder strap all hung up on a huge watch every single time trying to not rip the thing off of its strap.
100% true. I would say it’s not even taking anything off. It is only putting it on things like a ruck sack. That didn’t even cross my mind until you brought it up and then I was like, “oh shit, that’s right”
I'm not a tactical type but I do run on trails and beat the crap out of watches. That said, the Fenix series was pretty indestructible. But I just turned that in for an Apple Watch Ultra that I got as a gift and after messing with it, I'm probably never going to back to Garmin, Suunto, or anything that I used to wear on trail. You can toughen up an Apple watch and with the Workoutdoors app, you've basically got a beast. I wasn't crazy about them either but the Ultra is awesome.

You have to make sure that it doesn't get stuck after pressing it. It's designed to be recessed within the bezel so you have to use a fingernail or tool to press it, and because of this it can sometimes catch on the inside of the bezel and leave the seal open. This is very likely why your watch let in water.
The top left button is, by design, almost flush with the case….and requires a bit more intent when pushed. This is NOT a defect. Too many folks are sending these back thinking it’s a stuck button. IT’S NOT STUCK.
The apple watch ultra is half decent (pricetag is not justified) but at least is less ugly than the regular iwatch and has better WR and titanium case.
When it comes down to ABC accuracy, Casio is the last company you wanna rely on. There is the Garmin Instinct and that's about it, forget about the rest. When you don't need an ABC watch, a digital Timex expedition is the way to go. The Expedition series is more useful than the Ironman series. A basic digital G shock is also fine but vastly overrated and not really necessary.
Hi, I enjoy your video very much. Would you like to do more about “ what watch do air force pilots or Seal Navy wear?” I would like to know more about that.
Honestly, I don’t know what to think. It’s a smart watch, but it’s only just over 100 bucks. So it makes me a little nervous that it would hold up as well as they say it will. I guess this is what I would say, 100 bucks is not a lot to throw away on a watch if it last you six months. But if you get it and it breaks within a week, I would be pretty pissed. Then you have to assume that it’s platform is android, which most people use Apple. And anything outside of Apple watches do not work very well with Apple phones
I just bought one of those smart armour indestructible smart watches so I’m keen to see how good it is. I can wear my Apple Watch, but I dont really want to scratch it or damage it, especially if I can get one that I think looks nicer, for about $100. I’m going to do a flush out of my G Shocks, there’s some I bought and regret, like the all black 2100, because you cannot see anything on it at all, and there is a few I want to sell to make a profit on. There’s not really anything new that I want to buy at the moment, watch wise, but I’m on a bit of a bike kick at the moment and I’d like to buy a nice Norco or something similar, but I dunno, I’m having a blast riding my Stranger Things Schwinn Predator at the moment.
It all depends on what your designation is, while you’re in the field, where you are in the field. Understand that if I had a base on deployment, let’s just say outside of Baghdad, that bass is full of a lot of military personnel, 70% never leave the base and have jobs that are administration. In that fact it doesn’t matter. Most people aren’t gonna wear an Apple Watch outside the wire because they don’t want it to get broke first and foremost But, everything has a caveat of it depends
Trust me, I hate to say the Apple Watch is the most worn watch by tactical people. I do not have an Apple Watch myself, I think it’s a waste of money when I have my phone already in my pocket, but that’s it. The other four are pretty good though
Bro using your watch as currency "behind enemy lines" is so dramatic. Your watch is getting taken either way. If you are so fixed in having some leverage then slip a few thousand USD into your boot.
What about garmin even though it has gps and all that crap some garmins have stealth mode which turns off gps and connections and a kill switch which basically erases all data if u get caught and they r very durable too and some models have solar. or a automatic watch like a seiko or Rolex Bc all the the watches on this list can be effected by EMP or electronic warfare now I’m not hating on g shock I own one myself and it’s very durable
The Suunto core has probably the worst watch face of any watch I've ever seen. Except under perfect conditions you can't read the damn thing. I bought one, you can have it.
One, as a first responder myself, what makes you think I’m mad about what first responders wear on their wrists? I don’t care what you wear on your wrist, you could wear a giant dildo for all I care, I was pointing out a fact. So, I believe words are important, and your words are misused
It depends on what case you have on it, and most of the screens are actually pretty tough. I personally have only seen one broken, but that’s because we were in the middle of a fight, and the officer had his wrist slammed down onto the concrete
Sunnto is a beautiful watch too bad the bezel and the band are absolutely trash. Bezel scratches too ez and the band breaks after wearing it all the time.

And anything outside of Apple watches do not work very well with Apple phones
all g-shock have 200m water resist
I just bought one of those smart armour indestructible smart watches so I’m keen to see how good it is. I can wear my Apple Watch, but I dont really want to scratch it or damage it, especially if I can get one that I think looks nicer, for about $100.
I’m going to do a flush out of my G Shocks, there’s some I bought and regret, like the all black 2100, because you cannot see anything on it at all, and there is a few I want to sell to make a profit on. There’s not really anything new that I want to buy at the moment, watch wise, but I’m on a bit of a bike kick at the moment and I’d like to buy a nice Norco or something similar, but I dunno, I’m having a blast riding my Stranger Things Schwinn Predator at the moment.
i love the 5600bb
Agreed!
do for 2022 pls and provide the links pls
Surprised the GW6900 Tough Solar didnt make this list. Its more common than the 5600BB…
Just telling you what I see! Lol
Is ironman better to expedition
Yes, the Iron Man is slightly Tougher
I didn't think military personel were allowed to wear GPS watches out in the field. Isn't the Apple Watch a GPS watch?
It all depends on what your designation is, while you’re in the field, where you are in the field.
Understand that if I had a base on deployment, let’s just say outside of Baghdad, that bass is full of a lot of military personnel, 70% never leave the base and have jobs that are administration. In that fact it doesn’t matter.
Most people aren’t gonna wear an Apple Watch outside the wire because they don’t want it to get broke first and foremost
But, everything has a caveat of it depends
All the ones I know on the west coast wear g shocks
Apple watch?
Oh no no.
100 percent true. I don’t own an Apple Watch, but generally that’s what most people wear
Apple Watch, really ?
I was looking for anything but a Apple Watch.
Now I’ll take another look.
Sapphire would be nice.
Great real world review.
Trust me, I hate to say the Apple Watch is the most worn watch by tactical people. I do not have an Apple Watch myself, I think it’s a waste of money when I have my phone already in my pocket, but that’s it. The other four are pretty good though
Apple watches are a fashion choice, people buy it cause it shows well with their iPhones. Shouldn’t even be called a watch, it’s wrist iPhone 😂
G-shock mudman 20 years.....then last 10 year Garmin Phoenix 6.
I had a suunto once, puece of crap had the buttons stuck
Bro using your watch as currency "behind enemy lines" is so dramatic. Your watch is getting taken either way. If you are so fixed in having some leverage then slip a few thousand USD into your boot.
Easy there….
Garmin love can be found in the running community.
The Suunto core has probably the worst watch face of any watch I've ever seen. Except under perfect conditions you can't read the damn thing. I bought one, you can have it.
Cool
Cops and military members wearing APPLE WATCHES?! .....
It’s sad, but yet they all wear Apple watches, lol
Yes they do...
Thank you finally not a fucking ai video
eleven hundred blind ; who said the sunlight
fashion nova II axis accents
Apple Watch? 🤡
I'd rather wear Coros than that expensive but always recharge everyday.
U can't kill a gshock, whatever u do
That’s a fact
of course you can
@@aboutmyfathersbusiness6907 If G shock on your wrist has died, you have died.
@@cv600rr .....nope im still here...g shocks NOT
@@aboutmyfathersbusiness6907 okay......
cool story
I love my GD 350 b
Apple watch is not tactical watch.
And yet it is the most popular watch worn in all these tactical jobs. From experience, which is about 10 years now.. 17 years adding it all up.
GShock GBX series = law enforcement
geez these all probably too big for my wrists
Why are you so mad about first responders and service members using the watch that works best for them? (Apple watch)
One, as a first responder myself, what makes you think I’m mad about what first responders wear on their wrists?
I don’t care what you wear on your wrist, you could wear a giant dildo for all I care, I was pointing out a fact.
So, I believe words are important, and your words are misused
@@allthingsrandom8137 you didn't sound very happy when you mentioned that Apple watches are the most common watches used by your career.
@@nochillwill5903 like I said, honestly don’t care. It’s just funny to me in a career filled with impact and badassery
Rangeman 1st without any phone connection n solar power ...Apple watches don't belong in the list lol
GW6900
Aren't apple watches easily broken?
It depends on what case you have on it, and most of the screens are actually pretty tough.
I personally have only seen one broken, but that’s because we were in the middle of a fight, and the officer had his wrist slammed down onto the concrete
Sunnto is a beautiful watch too bad the bezel and the band are absolutely trash. Bezel scratches too ez and the band breaks after wearing it all the time.
My casio rangeman Is better.
Good watch
Mud master out performs them all
