I have the Suunto Core on wrist right now and I love it to death but considering what the Garmin Instinct offers at a similar price point it's puzzling that they charge around $300 for the Core. I bought mine years ago at about a hundred bucks which I think is much more reasonable for what you get.
Fun side note: Denzel rocks the Suunto Core in the first Equalizer movie. I still to this day wish the stopwatch function looks like it did in the movie th-cam.com/video/wfNU6JfDN_c/w-d-xo.html
I currently have the instinct solar. It's a great watch, battery lasts long. It's great for exercise activities, especially when I go rucking in my unit. I like to keep track of my pace. Highly recommend. Was planning on getting the tactix7 but I'm getting the instinct 2 solar tactical edition. Basically the same as the tactix 7 just not touch screen or high end maps. Highly recommend
I really wish the suunto had a solar feature to power it indefinitely, that would really seal the deal for me. I love the price and design since its like a non smart garmin.
Its not actually. In fact the case itself is rated to 12000m but rhe movement being quartz can only withstand 5000m. The oil creates a pressure seal that prevents exteenal pressure from compressing the tiny amount of air usually found in watch caseback.
@@paperspeaksco I mean anything below 300m just stops making sense even for technical divers, which is already very niche product. So they could achieve and advertise even 20000m, that's just useless.
@@eugenetaranov4549agreed, it's not practical but then again a basic quartz keeps better time than a Rolex. The watch market isn't held afloat by its practicality 😊
Marathon is still the, maybe only, supplier of official U.S. military watches. Watches aren’t issued but they can be ordered through a units supply section. They have an active NSN.
Hello and thanks for this video. I'm not into smart watches, but I saw that you'll be reviewing different kind of watches, including "old school" ones. And this review allows me to discover a brand I haven't heard about before, MWC. I don't know if they are good or not, but the brand's website shows some interesting watches. 😀
garmin instinct 2 tactical is the best. cheap, with a lot of functions like GPS or night vision mode, easy-to-read screen and if you are in sunny middle-west country you just dont need to recharge it.
I’ve owned just about every garmin tactix and fenix. I also have a huge collection of gshocks and a stupid Apple Watch. The one I wear the most is gshock. You can’t go wrong with that. I also have a seiko dive watch. My problem with garmin is it’s a chargeable battery. Now I have plenty of garmin handheld gps systems. So really no need for the watch. Just carry a bunch of batteries or learn how to read a map. Plus you can’t bring the watch in certain places. Was also told to take it off during land navigation training. Now far as workouts it’s great. Plus if anything happens far as an electronic warfare, the watch is pointless. All my smart watches sit for the most part.
honestly, the US military uses GShock so much because every single exchange has a wall of em somewhere in the store. And the average soldier isnt gonna buy a mudmaster, they r gonna but the cheapest one thats in regs, that catches their eye first.
In the American army, for example, all watches equipped with Bluetooth are not authorized for obvious security reasons. Great video, the Victorinox is my fav in this selection...
Are you in the US Army? They've always allowed smart watched to be worn just not in sensitive briefing rooms or very select special operations or training.
I am not sure why a military personel would want a watch that uses non government developed software often developed with public repositories. Software that can be hacked or have bugs or might not operate where you are going or worst of all can track and listen to you. Even if it is Microsoft they get hacked and often find out late like "living of the land" hacks. For me a quartz/solar powered g-shock is best or a good old mechanical automatic GMT watch with dive capabilities. You can tell time zones you don't worry about power it can have luminum and you can use it as a compass and most of all reliable.
Never use quarts watches. I’d go with a diver a 5 day power reserve. Matte finish bezel with anti-reflection sapphire crystal on both inside and out with a rubber bracelet.
@@eugenetaranov4549 For military purposes, EMPs. An automatic watch is impervious to it. For horological purposes, it’s just an opinion. Once I got into movements I had less appreciation for quartz and more for automatic. It logically makes no sense because quartz movements keep immaculate time and watches are mostly used… to tell time. I see watches as many different things so I have watches that fill those niches. But as far as the theme of the video I would not have a quartz movement in this list if you are actually using these watches in a military setting. This is just my opinion as well. I don’t know how relevant an EMP is in military operations because I am a civilian. But I do know which field watch I personally would use. Regardless, buy what you like! A watch is only worth what you personally feel about it.
Question for thouse who served. What about noctovision on the modern battle field. Right now it's relative common thing (we can notice that in the RU VS UA conflict). This illumination on the watches should be bright as F. Mil spec smart watches have special low light modes for that, or display is just off. For my humble opinion lumingation on the hands is a good way to get killed.
I mean the title was military inspired, out of everything in the list I only saw one that was use by recon team when I was in service can’t be exactly sure which model of Garmin but even then it wasn’t the entire platoon rocking Garmin most people wore Casio maybe a gshock here and there

It puzzles me when I see something like the Suunto, but no one brings up the Garmin Instinct.
NVM, I see the tactix. I stand corrected.

some gorgeous watches, but the truth is the only military watch a soldier really needs is a gschock
Ewww gshock 😂
Every video needs a guy like him 😂
Dont forget the F-91W
you dont need all this. all you need is the instinct 2. thats it
I've been wearing my original instinct over 5 years and it's still going strong.
Probably the seiko in arnie solar in my opinion due to no worries about battery changes in the field. Along with quartz accuracy and robustness.
Yep. Can’t go wrong with that.
Why is there a different Luminox than the one on the thumbnail and beginning of the video? What is the all Blacked Out One?
On 0:14, which is the full black watch, 3rd one from the left?
Suunto core?
What's the fully black one at 0:15 . It's the 3rd one from the right but not actually featured in the video
Its Luminox turtle or something like that
The Garmin Tactix is the best one there by far. And you should've added the Garmin Instinct 2X solar tactical too
I really wish the suunto had a solar feature to power it indefinitely, that would really seal the deal for me. I love the price and design since its like a non smart garmin.
I do like my g shock. These are awesome too.
Surprised to see MWC make this list and not the Sinn UX Hydro which offers an insane 5000m WR and made of German Submarine Steel
The watch alone might be good, but 5000m rating sounds like a marketing bs

Poor QC these days
Really like the Luminox , but its not available easily in India so got the Casio MRH 200W
luminox is a garbage brand.
greaat content, to bring it to next level what you need is a better microphone!
Hello sir, I want to buy sunto Alpha stealth watch. How I can purchase it..??? Tell me plz
so a 30000USD panerai for the satisfying click on turning the bezels? who even turns the bezels and for what?
Do you know GAW watch from Italy?
