Seth is the kind of man who doesn't see what can go wrong, but what can go right
I mean on one hand yes, but on the other, he's the guy who will teach arena zoomers about prison decks.
To be fair, jank is more about seeing funny and wild shit, not about trying to win, after all. Obvious, but bears repeating.
But he scoops so early he has thrown games with the answer in his hand a million times
The best way to play magic!
Is this why he always ask "how can we lose from here"
I was cringing watching Seth happily making his creatures arbitrarily large when the opponent could give their Ghalta deathtouch with Sorin, meaning it could trample over after assigning just one point to each of Seth's creatures. And then it didn't happen. He got extraordinarily lucky there, because he was 100% dead.
Good thing the opponent missed it too ;)
You don't see a creature with deathtouch AND trample that often so it's not surprising that people don't realise how that works.
@@MTGGoldfish Sometimes the opponent doesn't have it ("it" being the rules knowledge to win on board)
@@beanburrito9215It's also a pretty unintuitive interaction imo. I think in most people's minds (myself included before learning this) the way combat effects like that work is "creatures assign damage as normal, then check to see if the conditions for trample/deathtouch/etc. were fulfilled, then apply them."
Also missed that he could have just swung with Ghalta and the Priest, make a 2/2 dino with trample, and win there too. Seth was 10000000% dead. Opp double-punted
Seth and his opponent in game 3 both forgot about how deathtouch and trample work together.
i was about to comment this lmao, the whole time seth was comboing i was thinking "oh hes gonna be so sad when the trample hits him" and then i saw the sorin activation...
Came here ready to say how funny it was seeing Seth comboing off knowing it was all useless and... well... I can't say it was funny for that reason, but it was funny for another reason. Guess that's one reason to never concede. (I would've conceded the game xD)
@@MrKhornMore evidence against "early" scoops.
Yeah his opponent tunnel visioned on the fact that Sorin's targeted damage is 3 and Seth was at 4 life. Happens to the best of us and if opponent is anything like me, they realized it as soon as they sacrificed Ghalta.
Sometimes you just have to be confident and hope the opponent misses it like you did ;)
Classic Seth. "This hand sucks. I'm gonna keep it." Please don't ever change.
Another classic seth quote, right next to 1 land 1 keep
On that last game something that could've been cool would be infinitely proliferating the one ring burden counters to kill them on their upkeep
yess! I was thinking the same.
Was searching for this comment
I’m shocked that it’s not one of the default selections for proliferating on arena.
presumably it’s classified as a beneficial counter because it increases number of cards that are drawn but yes, that would have been hilarious.
upkeep tap one ring to draw their deck and if they have at least one answer in their whole deck they might be able to live, like a stifle or something to gain a lot of life
you could've proliferated the opponent to death by increasing their ring's burden counters
I had to scroll really far past the people complaining about game 3 to find this exact comment
Ohh, that's hilarious. Good call.
@@MTGGoldfish I fully expected the new "Emrakul, the World Anew" to come down and steal your board. They had the mana for it. That's possibly why they didn't initially scoop.
Opponent punted at 28:22 by not giving Ghalta and Mavren deathtouch with Sorin. Ghalta would have had deathtouch and trample and Seth could only absorb 3 damage total, 1 for each creature, and would have died.
Came here to say this. I was facepalming the whole time Seth was combining just for opponent to miss the line.
Last opponent was so cool to actually let all those shenanigans happen!!!
Seth, to speed up this kind of combo, if you press spacebar, it presses the orange button. So you can keep your mouse over your creature, press space, click creature, press space, click creature, etc.
If that Sorin player put deathtouch on Ghalta and Mavren I think they would have won.
I was just waiting to see Seth's face when op gave ghalta deathtouch after all that math/clicking... but op denied me that
deathtouch and trample is a devastating combo
Watching that vampire player punt as hard as they did by not plus on Sorin to give Ghalta deathtouch to be able to trample over your incredibly large creatures with the combination of deathtouch trample was absolutely mind boggling
Casual 1.2 billion overkill, noice.
Love when people queue up in timeless with a fully historic legal deck, the format is just better
Yeah, I don't really play Historic hardly at all anymore, I just like Timeless more.
We just got a new card revealed called iridescent vinelasher that has landfall - ping the opponent, I can't wait for Seth to try that combo.
It's not a good card, but Spitfire Lagac was printed in Zendikar Rising that has this exact ability. I know personally, as I've previously built a Maskwood Nexus/The World Tree combo deck that won by getting out every creature in the deck, including up to 4 Lagacs and Ashaya (making all your nontoken creatures Forests in addition to being creatures, so they'd all trigger landfall on the way in).
Agree! Aftermath Analyst + Pitiless Carnage w/ the new rat dude.
Let's go.
Yeah, I was just thinking it would be a great finisher for this deck.
Another potential win you could have gone for against the Eldrazi deck was you could have proliferated the burden counters on The One Ring so they died to it's trigger during upkeep
I like that the first opponent let you actually play it out instead of scooping. With ganky combos I really appreciate people who let you play it out.
No, the dude was a sore loser and make Seth play it out, hoping to run the clock out.
@latinojackson9694 both possibilities are equally likely, I just try not to be so negative and assume the worst of people I don't even know.
@@latinojackson9694Was there a clock? This was best of 1, no?
"7 counters ought to be enough"
Opponent: -868 life
lmao, never change, Seth
If you run a few copies of Blinkmoth Nexus or Mutavault or something it also does it along with a Lotus Cobra effect
Im disappointed Seth didnt shout "It's over 9000!!!!!!" :o
Also, i think your last opponent was so impressed by the numbers you brought up that he said: Yea, imma let him hit me so we can see the total XD I know I would do that haha
You know Dragon personally? What are the odds, lol
This is both tremendously funny and fragile as a combo. I absolutely love it
Springheart is one of my favorite cards from mh3. Glad it’s getting some love
You mean some non-Nadu love, right? :P
We did it guys. We broke springheart.
"I think we're fizzling." Seth said calmly, tapping Nykthos for 27 mana, with 5 draw engines on the battlefield and a dozen cards in hand.
He could have win by just doubling the counter and attack with bill
Asking again, we would love to see you do more limited content seth!!
Agreed
Oh, yeah, I definitely thought about the infinite land possibility back when Springheart Nantuko was previewed.
20:15 I mean... Ocelot Pride and Ajani are played in Boros Energy, it's not necessarily cat tribal
I love how Seth can just take any random card and beat the best decks in the format with it in the coolest way possible
I had a commander game recently where we just threw out the math because i had bristly bill and kami of whispered hopes on the battlefield. And with both out and bristly bill with 150 counters on him, i was able to activate his doubling ability approximately 4100 times in a single turn. Which when you do the math its an astronomically large number lol. Granted we didn't do the math because whats the point. 😂
I dont like it when Seth concedes in these matches instead of letting his opponent of getting that win. I know they still win, but it feels different when you win because you won vs you winning because your opponent gave up.
edit: Yo....that player "Dragon" was awesome for allowing Seth to do his combo. He could have scooped, but instead he let you enjoy your deck do what you designed it to do. Satisfying.
This combo is relatively simple to set up in Brawl too. Jolrael, Voice of Zhalfir and Joati, Moag Ancient are both simic commanders that make land creatures. Just slap Springheart Nantuko and lotus cobra/Nissa and some landfall cards in and you're good to go.
Also works with Ashaya
Copies of Jyoti's tokens would also be creatures though, and have summoning sickness and not be able to pay for the next trigger.
that's true actually, didn't think about that. Could be countered if you have lotus cobra + creature nissa but that's kinda unreasonable
The best part of this video was watching Arena struggle with all those counters . I'm amazed that Arena didn't completely brick.
28:22 Man, that was funny and awful to see at the same time! TRAMPLE DEATHTOUCH, DUDE!
I no joke JUST built a Bristly Bill deck just like this with slightly different cards like 3 days ago. Crazy to see it here!
In the final game, you did also have the hilarious line of proliferating your opponent's one ring, to get it to 32 (or more) counters, meaning that they die from their own ring trigger!
At 26 minutes when you were worrying about the vampire deck. All you needed to do was get the two untapped to 28 and swing. He had a SINGLE untapped blocker and no open mana. You didnt need to buff the land or go on and on about losing at 1 "anyway". He had 3 damage, one blocker, you had two swingers. Idk if you know math, but 56÷2 is still 28... and all you need is one swing to connect.
I always thought it was "NanTOOko," but Seth has converted me.
that last hit was over 1.2 BILLION damage lol
17:58 best question/quote of the game
One of my favourite cooks, is a spicy lil board state using and abusing patchwork crawler? the guy who exiles a creature card from your graveyard to gain all activated abilities of said creature -- exiling Asmodeus the Archfiend ( they have a static ability that balances the card, so this is a way to ixnay that )
At the end of it you get a creature that can let you draw seven for 3 mana, and with the other ability you get to return all cards exiled by Asmo( rule text states that for all intents and purposes you replace Creature names with the patchwork, and since the ability doesn't specify otherwise, all cards exiled by patchwork can be returned to you -- I don't believe MTGA had this working when I last tried this, but OTB would be easy )
Good luck in your games, may your cooks be spicy
"You can concede at any time"
I remember saying this to a new player while playing turbo fog in pauper when he asked if he is dead.
Winning is over rated. Not dying is what is up
That last game...Holy cow! ❤❤❤
23:59 Is the power creep of MH3 breaking mtg?
00:00 turn 2 a planeswalker and a 13/13 Vampire isn’t powerful enough to stop our MH3 deck! We did it! 🥳
13/13 was enough, the oppo just missed lethal.
It was powerful enough, the opponent punted. Sorin could have given Ghalta and Mavren deathtouch and it would have trampled over and killed Seth no matter how big his creatures were.
Just to be clear, when I see Saffron happy playing, I am happy watching.
Still, the MH3 powercreep scares me 😰
"Were not doing anybof that" proceeds to just huild another nadu combo
The finish of the last match reminds me of a simic deck I built about a year that does something similar. Pretty sure I stole it from Mono Black Magic.
Step 1 - land ramp with Scute Swarm, make army of bugs
Step 2 - Play Zopandrel (who doubles power and toughness)
Step 3 - cast Echoing Equation, making all your bugs into copies of Zopanny. Even at 10 creatures, it's hilariously lethal.
51:47 Actually, you can kill your opponent using exactly their one ring! Infinite proliferate means that you can put a million counters on the ring, surely opponent can draw their deck on the trigger but then they should be very dead.
In moments like this I wish to see a Declecting-Palm-like card from the opponent, just to see Seth's face.
Seth missed that he could have infinitely proliferated counters on The One Ring in that last game to kill the opponent with their own One Ring
You know it's a good video when negative life totals enter into the ten-digit range.
Super fun tech. Good video.
Thanks!
@51:00 you could've proliferated your opponents one ring up to infinity so he dies on upkeep
another fun outlet for this combo would be Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer to make infinite 3/3 Badger creature tokens
Saw this in historic. I think it works better there when you don’t have to deal with things like bolt and mana drain and all that
That last game was pure gold hahahahaha
Thr Ghalta/Sorin opponent was still able to win. Sure Sorin to give Ghalta deathtouch, swing in and assign 1 point of damage to each blocker (1 damage is lethal due to deathtouch), then win woth trample damage.
This...makes me wanna remake a mono green EDH deck because land tokens seem fun XD
It would have been hilarious if Seth proliferated the One Ring counters, so unless the have flash speed One Ring, it would have dealt a million damage
Has 2 battles on the board. "No sense in attacking because of The One Ring." At least he caught himself with the Karn.
Timeless? You could add Iridescent Hornbeetle for a way to win. Though I guess it would just be a better idea to have one in case of fog.
Oof - last game just needed a single Questing Beast, and I made this comment just as he said that! :D
Very satisfying first game, ngl.
think your opponent for the eldrazi thought you were going to storm the festival
If you did a simic version of this with tatiova you could win through thasas
One billion, two hundred forty seven million, four hundred twelve thousand, two hundred eighty two was the opponents life total in the last game
17:56 was waiting for the brazen borrower
44:52 It's over 9000!!!
A trillion damage in that last match, no joke.
If you add a single altar of dementia, you can sacrifice a single creature to mill your opponent's deck
In the last game, it would've been possible to proliferate the opponent's One Ring counters and make them die on upkeep.
For those wondering:
Negative one billion, two hundred and forty seven million, four hundred and twelve thousand, two hundred and eighty two.
Saddened that Seth didn't take the snarky wincon in the last game and proliferate counters on his opponent's TOR until it was more than his remaining library and life total. The lines you sacrifice in order to hit your opponent for over 1.2 billy.
Opponent is dead for all future games, that was deep :) (The new landfall damage creature will be good with this.)
the million proliferation triggers in the end could have gone on the one ring and killed the opponent on their upkeep
its “NAN TOO KO” NOT “NON TUCK O”
Tbh I have been able to make infinite lands in standard with dopellgang but the game tends to crash on me past a point (I mean I got to the point I got 3900 nissa triggers on the stack and then I just quit xD)
This was before mh3?
Thats not INFINITE though, just an exceedingly large number because lol Dopplegang
This loop is actually an infinite combo, since its mana neutral and loops itself, the only things stopping it are token limit and timer
@@syrelian it is infinite, with dryad revival and shigeki you can get dopelgang back and recast it infinitely. (you get shigeki with revival and with shigeki you get revival and doppelgang (and worldsoul rage) back)
It's unfortunate the vampire opp didn't see that they can just tick up sorin on ghalta and make him a 13/13 trample deathtouch and swing for the kill through Seth's board of 1000/1000's
sweet combo seth. good to see some other uses of nantuko, but why not play this in historic? im pretty sure every card is legal there and the combo potential would also be higher..
In casual i just put the natuko on a mana dork and have fun!
28:00 opponent missed lethal +1 sorin on ghalta is lethal due to deathtouch
I once tried making the biggest bristly bill but around a couple of trillion counters is the limit
Imagine counting it all on paper magic.
You should have been proliferating the Burden Counters :D
Seth should have saved this for after bloomburrow so we could have Frog Nissa.
hold your horses i want the list of the first opponent. i really miss my aetherwork marvel deck. couldnt make it work on arena :(
In last game you could prolifirate counters on One Ring and kill opponent by his own Ring
Guys I spotted something that literally nobody else spotted or commented about so I have to comment about it: opponent could have given Ghalta and Mavren deathtouch
It would be funny if Stone-Seeder Hierophant was on Arena!
43:13 nice amount of mana
That was magnificent
Ah, when your true enemy is the timer.
Seems easier than my infinite primal wellsprings concept. Mine takes ~ 4 cards and only comes online as infinite after you reach 3x untapped primal wellsprings. Yours is smooth. I doubt I could ever pull mine off in Timeless. Only sparky will ever know its glory ;p it's such a steaming pile of cards.
28:36 opponent missed the line, he could have given his Gaulta and Mavern lifelink and deathtouch with sorin. Trample plus deathtouch doesnt care about your board at all.
15 squirrels can draw with Emrakul. Infinite forests however can beat it.
If I got it right, that last attack dealt 1.24 billion damage.
1 billion 247 million 412 thousand 313 damage.
Or as seth said enough damage to kill opp for the next 62million games of best of 1
Wow! 1.24 trillion damage in the last game!
one billion two hundred forty-seven million four hundred twelve thousand two hundred eighty-two Is how much damage done on the last attack of the video it is crazzy
So if that last games opponent were to carry that damage through games he would instantly lose 6,237,061.4 games. BONKERS
If Sorin put deathtouch on Ghalta and Mavren would they have won?
Yeah, deathtouch and trample means 11 damage would've gone unblockled. Opponent didn't see the winning line though.
For a deck that needs to hit a land drop to combo, why is it only running 16 land + 4 MDFC?
Seth, please take out 1 Old Growth Troll and put in a single Doppelgang, it'll give you something else to do with your infinite mana =D
Deleted my comment noticed summon sickness. Still doesnt mean all you needed was buffed up = to their life dudes. That game was never a loss.
I would hate playing against that deck...
