I love your layout choice for this block. I just finished my quilt top today with 4 of these big blocks which gives me a 5th star in the middle. My granddaughter's husband is a heavy machine operator and this pattern seemed somehow appropriate for him. Used some fabric from Northcott called "Construction Zone" that had a light grey background and didn't look too childish (I hope) and Moda Charcoal Thatch for all the dark fabric and sashing. I think he will like his birthday surprise.

Wonderful quilt in a beautiful colorway! I have one question though, how would you quilt it? Would you use swirls to represent the winds and tornadoes, or geometrics to represent the crops, oil derricks, and the Mother Road (Route 66)? Or something wild and crazy? Much love from Oklahoma!

Thank you for this, Laura. The first quilt I made was Road to Oklahoma in 1981. I have wondered what the background story is about the pattern and does it refer to the Trail of Tears as Native Americans were force marched west, many to Oklahoma. I have not been able to find an answer to this question and wonder what you know about the pattern’s story.

Hi Laura! Could you please help me. I'm looking for the video where you took a fabric panel of the New York skyline, cut it up into a "trip tich" (?), put a shadow around a portion of the pieces and sewed them all to a lovely background. I'm almost certain you did it and I've been fascinated by it ever since. I finally found the panel, but now I can't find the video. Please tell me you did it and can provide me with a video???? Thank yo so much. This charm pack wall hanging is so beautiful, the fabric is already on my table to be worked on. Again, thanks for this!. Have to go out and brush the 1 foot of snow off my car at -22C. Take Care and Hugs from Canada!!
